Our mine sites use them a lot.
They're the most common vehicle.
They are very rare in the US

yup, if you want reliability & cheap servicing/car that will run even if you miss services, then toyota's the way to go. My mechanic told me "don't you dare buy a European car, buy a toyota!" cause he knows how bad I am at actually getting my car serviced. He told me straight out my new car would be a write off within 3 years if I buy a European one with the way I service it lol. My current corolla hasn't been serviced since some time before covid, can't remember when, is due for an oil change at least....... Battery & wipers are the only things I've had replaced on it

One of the primary schools I went to didn't either...but the school had a system where student could leave school grounds to go to an oval and sports field one block away.

Our school had two ovals, a few rugby fields, a full 400m running track and two soccer fields. The cross country track went around all of them, about 2km. Yeppoon, Queensland
FriendlyJordies is a quite polarising person here in Aus. People seem to love him or hate him. He does investigative journalism that mainstream won't touch, but delivers it in exactly the same way as the video you just watched, which can be a bit off-putting to some. He recently had his house burned down by ..... persons unknown..., but he has been investigating some powerful figures here recently and is no stranger to controversy.
His investigative journalism is bias towards the left so no he's not as brilliant as you would like to suggest. I'd even dare to suggest he's being bankrolled by the likes of Kevin rudd etc 🤷♂️

Now that you mention it, every school I went to had a full sized Aussie Rules field (yes, called an oval and yes, it was where all the fights were coordinated because it would take the teachers minutes to run across it to break it up).
I'm glad you're supporting Friendly Jordies. He is a national hero currently fighting corruption. They fire bombed his house for the work he's doing. He's got some great Aussie content as you've discovered to go with his political commentary and satire.

Although dark chocolate in general has been getting more common as part of other chocolate items even in regular Aussie stores these days. Dark chocolate used to be mostly just for plain dark chocolate rather than chocolate covered snacks but now you have to watch out that you pick up the right snack.
Every school does indeed have an oval. Not all of them the size of a professional AFL Oval, but they all have one.
Maybe in Victoria, my school had one for both sports, Rugby League and Soccer.

It's true about the bananas mate.
If bananas are green you put them in a paper bag with oranges and the gas the oranges give out makes them ripen much faster.
Doing this with ripe bananas, makes them go brown and rot much faster.
Can also use oranges to ripen avocado faster too.
I think you may have this the wrong way around (though I see 10 people have liked your comment so it's possible I'm deluded here). Bananas produce a lot of ethylene (or ethene) gas which will speed up the ripening/rotting process of other fruit near them. Though most fruits produce small amounts of ethylene, this is nothing like the amount from bananas, and citrus fruits produce considerably less ethylene than other fruits. I guess it's possible that oranges in a bag with green bananas could ripen them ever-so-slightly faster, but bananas themselves will rapidly ripen any other fruit they're near.

Yep,I was told to ripen a green avocado quicker throw a bunch of banana's directly on top of them in the fruit bowl and it worked brilliantly
Our ovals are just a flat grassy field used for various sports but doesn't usually have the seats around.
Normally has a oval shape that's made white chalk powder, and is 400 metres round in circumference.
Then lanes are marked around that.
That long thing at the game you saw is a beer snake. If you have managed to gather a few empty plastic beer glasses at the cricket (or another sport) together with people in chatting distance, you might start stacking them together until you get a foot or two of empty plastic beer glasses together. If you then hold up your baby beer snake above your head, you are sending a direct invitation to every other patron in immediate chucking distance to gather up their own empties and chuck them your way, thus helping you to grow the beer snake. If it gets really big, people may begin to gather empties for you from far and wide.
In Australia that snake will be clear, in America it would no doubt be red. You seem to have red plastic beer cups over that way.

Hilux is very common Australia.
Every school in Oz has at least 1 oval, sometimes more. And usually has a bunch of other outdoor sport areas- cricket pitch, basketball court, etc.
I went to a relatively small (~700 students) public high school in a somewhat low income area and the school had an oval (complete with cricket pitch), a soccer field, cricket nets, 3 tennis courts, netball courts, an indoor basketball court and a couple of outdoor basketball courts.
our schools are also quite 'outdoor' based (unless you live in an inner city area, even then its not to bad). there tends to be 'blocks' of classrooms instead of just 1 big building. so you will have walkways between them. we also don't have cafeterias, you just eat your lunch outside somewhere (either packed or bought from the canteen).
For my school 700 students is alot, my school has around 400 students.
My primary school (around 200 students), had 2 ovals as well as 2 sports court things
700 is not small..There were 64 kids all together at my primary school. We had 2 ovals.

Most schools in australia were built 100 years ago, 100 years ago towns were small surrounded by bushland, so they built school's on the edge of towns and they had all the land they wanted for most school's in west sydney atleast that each school has, a rugby field, a cricket field, a soccer field , small training fields like nets for batting practice, and 2 basket ball courts, on sports day all sports can be played at the same time in there own area, so when we vs other schools on sports day each sport does there own thing.. if you look at schools on google earth from above view, youl see most aussie schools are surrounded by huge sport fields and empty fields, but there empty for a reason for obscure sports like, long distance cross country, or javelin throwing , or for things like nature studies, or studying farming and animal husbandry alot of schools have a mini farm with cows pigs sheep goats vegetable gardens ..
In the west yes, in areas that have seen large population increases, such as the north shore & central coast, there's basically no oval space left, they're all covered in demountables & kids have lunch in shifts to use the tiny open areas available to them
@@mehere8038 yeah it makes sense in those areas that may have happened, it would have been much smaller than a bit west back in the day too , because lets face it its one the most wanted most expensive places in sydney today and 150 years ago.. and yeah when i was in school in blacktown we had the demountables you mentioned, and a few extra rows of them are there today 20 years later , but those ares scholls are better off because housing was built right upto school bounds back in the 60s and 70s, so that helped lick in the schools hige sizes including surrounding paddocks and stuff so they had room for 50 new demountables and still you wont see a decrease in land, to be honest you see an increase in new sport fields and mini farms
@@4kays160 North Shore was also subject to political games, with labor closing schools & selling off the land in areas where it knew it was never going to win any seats, while there wasn't the money available to liberal if they tried the same stunt in areas they weren't going to win, due to lower property prices. Central Coast I don't know how it happened though, should have been the same situation as western sydney, but it was the first to suffer serious overflows
Yeah, pretty much every school really does have an oval, sometimes more than 1. The kids who used to smoke at school would always be at the back of the school oval smoking to hide from the teachers. Wasn't uncommon to see students being marched by a teacher from the back of the oval towards the principals office, occasionally with a bong as well

That was me in the 80's! Recess and lunch time in high school was hanging around on the footy oval, smoking (ciggies or joints/pipes), and kicking the footy around!

Oval is a generic term for the open grass area at schools where students play during break time. Although it is occasionally an Aussie rules field

Friendly Jordies was a target of a NSW Politician. The State police were tracking and intimidating him because he hurt their feelings. Yes, most schools have Ovals. My school growing up had 2 Ovals and a Soccer ground.
A thieving Polly that made a million-dollar job for himself in America witch inclued a A top end apartment in New York city

Yes Ryan, you do need binoculars at some school ovals. The last school I taught at in Brisbane, the oval was 250m long and over 150m wide in some places, but the width varied considerably. It was carved out of a past landfill in the early '80s and has extremely steep sides. This is similar to many in Brissy and I imagine all over Oz. In the time since it was built' the surface is amazing, and the school is no longer on the outskirts.
Once had an angry student run at us with a stick from across the oval, luckily the distance was vast enough that he had time to think and get puffed 🤣
Toyota Hilux is very common here in Australia, I have one as a "second car" to my Honda Civic, especially for trips to the big box store Bunnings.

GO-LO was a discount variety store that sold knock off or confectionery (lollies and chocolates) that was originally not meant to be sold in Australia. Even band name chocolates were sold cheap and made out of lower quality ingredients to where they tasted nothing like how it should be like when you buy them from the proper supermarket

Hey Ryan, my dad has owned two Hilux's (tray back not style side). They are solid utes. Both drove/drive up and down the east side of Australia with alot of inland trips. They're tough and a great reliable ute. The kilometres guage maxed out and rolled over. It eventually stopped working. Then the speedo stopped. He eventually replaced the old hilux with the new one. Basically the instrument cluster stopped but the engine never did.
Bananas make other fruit ripen faster than usual because they release significant quantities of a gas called ethylene (also known as ethene). This gas causes ripening/softening/rotting of adjacent fruit by the breakdown of cell walls, conversion of starches to sugars and the disappearance of acids.
When you buy some fruits like pears and stone fruit, they are never ripe enough to eat straight away. Put them in a fruit bowl with a banana or 2 for a day or two to ripen, then in the refrigerator for a day then get stuck in. Ethene in the gas used commercially to ripen fruit picked green in order for it to be available in the off season.
Every school has an “oval”. A grass oval field that we play sports (PE) on and/or play on at recess and lunch. Also we don’t all swear or keep dogs outside etc! :)

Friendly Jordies is my favourite Australian comedian :D I've gone and seen him live twice myself. He's a big political commentator here, to the point that he's home was fire bombed and he had to slow down a bit. Won a defamation case against a big political figure, exposed a bunch more for dirty dealings. And did it in a way thats hilarious! I recommend some of his earlier skits for some Australian humour. His jokes revolve around the scummier side of Australia that you'd probably not see much of if you were a tourist.
Friendly Jordies is one of the best Aussies that have shown people doing the wrong things especially pollies the worst thing is that some have taken upon themselves to make Friendly Jordies life is threaten.
Lots of schools have cricket/footy ovals. My high-school had 3. But most suburbs have at least one oval, so often a local hang out for teenagers.
I attended 9 schools in 3 different states (primary & high school) and all of them had at least one sports oval (field) or more. Some had (outdoor) multi purpose sports courts - basketball, volleyball, tennis etc (older ones were asphalt - newer ones rubber crumb polymeric surfaces). Then we normally had 1 or 2 indoor gym / courts. Besides competing against other schools on their home grounds, the only other sport we did “off campus” was swimming - this was normally at the local (council) swimming pool.
Friendlyjordies recently got his house firebombed allegedly by "clubs NSW" because he was looking into their money laundering complacency. Worth a sub if you want to know what's happening in Australian politics or even if you just want the odd laugh at a video like this.
Could have been the illegal forestry people, Bruz, the fixated persons unit numpty, or ant number of people. Obviously I'm not trying to minimize it, but there's many suspects

Schools do have ovals 😅 not always size of the afl oval but mine is. It’s just like having an open grass area and some schools have a small oval and a big oval for people of different ages, it fits 😂

Toyota Hiluxes are everywhere here. Everywhere. Theyre used in the mining farming tourism horticultural and trades industries. As well as privatehome use. They have/had an awesome reputation for toughness and reliability. Tho' they are the most expensive of that type of ute. There a lot of other brands that are now that are giving it a run for the money. And yes bananas produce ethylene which makes other fruit ripen and rot quickly. Yes most schools have an oval for sports. Its big enough to play footy, soccer and outdoor PE classes (physical education).
They found the capsule by driving down the highway at 70 kph with a special detector in the car . The capsule was a couple of metres off the side of the road but I don’t know how long it took

An oval is basically a big piece large area of grass, usually in an oval or square shape. We then have a seperate playground with like swings, slides

Modern laws are dog abuse... back in the late 70s our suburbs dogs were able to hang in packs just like the teenagers!
@@bloozee pets shouldn't be left out at night as they can get hypothermia and are more likely to get ticks and other diseases. Pet owners that leave dogs outside all times should be jailed/fined and not allowed to own pets
@@blairchristie910 never left the cattle dog out at night . She slept in the bed. She travelled everywhere we did in the car. ( she had to as she could get to the border of the suburb before my Morris1100 could get there) but she was able to live as a dog with the other dogs during the day. ( I think her footprints are still on the sidewalk concrete in the old hood now, 40 years later).

WOO JORDY! The voice of nearly 3 generations of disillusioned Australians. His live shows actually pretty great, he generally does smaller venues and that tour got an extra sold out date in my city. He's done other tours since. His on screen persona can be intense but he's genuinely a Friendly Jordie in person.

The playing surface is oval in shape, 135m to 185m long and 110m to 155m wide. The preferred senior oval size is 165m x 135m as this provides the greatest flexibility to cater for all standards of play.
In the case of school ovals they can be even smaller and somewhat ironically, a different shape.
The "oval" is where the "cricket pitch" is located. Every Australian school has a cricket pitch, even the all-girls schools. If you have a full sized cricket oval then you can it will be big enough to play any other sport on it including a large athletics carnival and even set up the annual school fetes on it. The oval is really just a reasonably sized piece of flat or flattish ground with some form of grass on it and less bindies on it, for at least part of the year, that may otherwise be indistinguishable from the general playground area except for some coloured lines and the odd set of goalposts.
Pretty much every school has at least one oval. We have 2 square kilometres spare for every single person 🤣
8:45 the oval is basically the sports field for schools. Typically is an oval for track running and also for footy. Usually if you got your Sports/PE teacher you'd be going out there occasionally.

Growing up in Oz we had multiple sports ovals for ball sports/ athletics/cricket/t-ball the list goes on and multiple hand ball sports basketball/netball the list goes on... and usually a pool for swimming sports. And that was just primary school (year 1-7) most high schools (8-12) had even more

And my animals are in when the heat is at its worst, I don't know many people who leave their animals outside during high temps. we had a number of ovals to chose from, we used to be a town out in the sticks but its been built up for a few years now so properties are getting smaller. not many pigeons in shopping center food halls unless their outdoors. the beer bit is a beer snake plastic cups. Hilux awesome vehicle for beach fishing, outback driving and occasionally bush bashing. (or just getting up stubborn tracks)
Love your videos! I sorta feel like your part of Australia now hahaha. Nah the hilux is rare in the usa, they are like f trucks but smaller. Toyota Landcruisers, Hilux Prado and the FJ old and newer like you have there are well known for being one of the most reliable cars. I mean if terrorist use hiluxes to mount guns on the back you know they gotta be built tough.

Confectionary is basically candies and chocolates. or sweet snacks. Go lo and discount stores sell crap ripoffs. Coles is just a grocery store here like woolies or woolworths.

Most schools do infact have either an AFL/Cricket Oval or a Rugby League field, some schools even have both.

Confused how you're surprised about the ovals, out here in the country there's a full size oval in every town and every school, primary and secondary. Regional centres have multiple, I went to high school in the regional centre and our school alone had 3.

The oval is legit any large field of grass, most schools have them but only some have footy goals on them. We had two netball courts though!

I’ve heard so many Americans say “HELIX”. It spelt HILUX. It is pronounced…..wait for it…..HI LUX.
I was in California smoking sick weed with this “farmer” dude, at the late Bruce Brown’s house, (made the movie On Any Sunday, that old dirt bike movie), I just met at the Figueroa Mountain brewery, and he kept calling em a Toyota Helix. I had to set him straight even though I was stoned AF…thanks to him 😂. Good people over there. ✌🏻 🇦🇺
Yeah, most of the 6 schools I went to growing up had at least 2 ovals, tennis courts, gym, and a couple had pools too.

10:20 The teachers knew a fight was on because a big crowd would gather. One time a big crowed gathered and they just wasted a whole lunchtime yelling at each other from a few metres away. Scary stuff might be where the modern real life drama TV was born.

No, he was saying that "buying chocolate and candy" from Australian "cheap shops" ie $1 shops is noticeably worse than when you buy the exact same thing from a supermarket or a regular shop.
Keep your bananas 2-3 ft (0.61-0.91 m) away from other fruits and vegetables. Other fruits and vegetables, like avocados and apples, give off the same ethylene gas that causes bananas to ripen. And since they ripen at different speeds, it could spell trouble for your yummy yellow bunch. Set your bananas somewhere away from other produce to let them ripen at their own pace. Also don't keep milk or dairy products in the fridge door... anything kept in the door is where the largest fluctuation of temperature takes place, reliably causing dairy products to expire and grow mould colonies significantly faster.
Pretty much every school has some kind a large "oval" grass area. Few actually "Aussie football" sized though. But still pretty big.

Definitely "Left-Leaning" (Labor) and not "right-leaning" (Liberals) however he will come at and expose anyone doing dodgy things on any side of the political spectrum. Sometimes getting himself in trouble with legal suits made by certain politicians who would prefer that he "shut up". Even having his home and office raided by police and his fellow content creators threatened.

Nearly every high school does have an oval. This is a grassed area where u play Aussie rules, rugby, or soccer. Most sole have a canteen for take away food. It's usually healthy. But we don't have indoor seating, like in a Cafe. The kids sit on the grass on the oval

Hi Ryan, some fruit produce the gas 'Ethene' (formerly known as Ethylene), which causes other fruits to ripen faster. While bananas produce this gas, apples also produce it in more significant amounts but are also more susceptible to it. There are more fruits like this but I can't think of them atm.
