Kia ora koutou ....in my understanding, there is a 'sunset clause' in the Declaration of Independence 1835, and those windup conditions are in section 2.
Just need to look closely for them...they are definitely there.
It is those section 2 conditions that was followed, by the writers, for implementing the Treaty of waitangi 1840[ Te Tiriti o Waitangi ]......................................................... The use of the term 'parent' has nothing to do with progeny...it to me appears to be a style of expression(and in a sneaky way, if I may say so), that relates to expressing a 'time relationship or time prior to a point in time''... a very important concept one has to grasp, to fully understanding both treaties...it actually establishes a 'time reference to a known event in time' ...ultra critical to the treaty and it is a 'time concept' expressed throughout both treaties...in the preamble in the body of the 'treaties' in the articles.
The other concept, to grasp is that there, are the 4 clauses, established in section 4 of the 1835 declaration. The last 2 clauses are easy to understand. Of those two, the 2nd clause ....it's about a clause object(we can all see that) while the 1st(of the last 2) is about time. So in a nutshell....one clause, sets the objective(be it Law or whatever) the other approximates a time or year for that objective or Law, of the other clause. ie"parent of infant state"...when was the infant(concept) born?...=> october 1835 so when what about the parent concept => it must have been prior to October 1835. So referencing a time relationship, is an overarching theme through-out both documents. A quick word on the other remaining clause(section 4 Declaration 1835).You will find that it's actually a combo clause(it has 2 clauses) and again 1 clause sets the law the other clause sets a time relationship, for the other clause.
Time is what they are talking about in the start of s2 ie 'what time is expressed for meeting , in congress? and what time is the reference point .......'autumn'.... when is autumn? .........and the next chapter is about .........Law?...so just drawing a broad picture here. In a nutshell it's about "a time prior to the reference point 'autumn'.
another quick example "royal protection".To enable protection is actually about Protection by Law. so how do you, account for a 'time reference'...... well if 1840 is the reference time point......the term 'royal' arguably refers to something that must have been accorded prior to 1840..lots of arguments for this 'extension', royal favour etc..........
enough for now....this is only just the tip of the iceberg............................apologies for the big font....don't know why this happened?..............Nga mihi, nga manaakitanga mea nga aroha ki a Koutou katoa

Johnny, I remember Dr Manuka Henare pointing out ( on one of your previous videos) that 'The New Zealand Declaration of Independence 1835" is the correct name for the document. This infers that the document includes all New Zealanders. When all the pakeha and tau iwi realise this fact, our founding document can and may take its rightful position in our land.

was no kupapa, the original flag which was Harakeke & the under feather of pouakai, was not recognised at sea when our people started trading exporting, & was impounded, so our people knew we had to get with the times, & chose Te kara as our trading flag, & acknowledged by other nations on sea & land 21 gun salute Hms aligator, so we continued on with no interference, so we then have a constitution & a trading flag, when Hone Heke saw the colonial flag flying at kororareka(Russel) above Te kara, hence he did the deed & cut down the flag pole, This flag was chosen by our Tupuna & is still our official trading flag, Patu one & wakanene also put their mark on He wakaputanga in 1839, along with Te Hapuku & Te wherowhero, He wakaputanga is our constitution & Te Kara our trading flag Tinorangatiratanga in exchange for Kawanatanga, still to this day this govt has no constitution & their flag is only an ensign, they are in fact lawless,...no reira kia tuturu awhiti whakamaua kia tina! tina! Kia ora hone, the way i see the signing of the treaty is as farcical as the translation itself, i have no doubt that Mr. williams and his son were proficient in maori study and the functioning of maori. However, that fact gets lost in translation when you consider the subtleness of language and the nuances that it encompasses, for instance, english have many words that mean the same thing like ,pants in english you can say pants as trouser, shorts or pyjama bottom and ,unless you understand the context or nuance of the statement in the form in which it was written then the translation is altered ,,,just like a realtor selling a crappy house near a sewer ,,he could write his ad stating it was a fixer upper with waterfront views, ,,,,,,so to the actual signing ,,,to me that sounded like that realtor trying to buy your land telling you by giving up your land and letting your neighbor run the show we will be your fiend,,,, how many idiots would sign that,, who in their right mind would sign over their lives and their land to someone else,, remember, the nuance of language thing of which i spoke earlier well here i will say the word kawanatanga represented here as meaning governor and that rangatira meant chief or noble,,, and so we come to the three words ,the interpretation in english which make my blood boil, those three words in english are (1)governorship= effectively saying maori give this to the crown ,the maori version being te kawanatanga katoa means the giving of total ownership of their lands ...the word(2) sovereignty had no meaning in maiori and like i said fthe nuance of the english translation had a totally different meaning the third and final word being, in maori as tikanga maori which has several english meanings like culture , protocol or customary law but as far as i was taught it meant doing thing the right thing or doing things the right way ,if I'm wrong please enlighten me and,, if you made it through my entire monologue" god bless hone"

As it said. The northern tribes. Not the whole of NZ. However the Treaty of Waitangi represented "all" of NZ. Even 26 of the chiefs that signed the 1835 agreement went over to the Treaty of Waitangi and subsequently sign and agreed to that. So the He Wakaputanga was an aberration. Just history on our road to a united New Zealand!! Be careful you do not cause separatism

Don't forget the Treaty of Waitangi doesn't hold as much water as Te Tiriti o Waitangi under international law so He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti run side by side. Btw He Whakaputanga can still be signed by other Rangatira today if they want, there is no end date.

He Wakaputanga 1835 was given Royal assent by King William 1V and heralded worldwide given a 21 gun salute and remains in International law

Hongi Hika was the Paramount Chief of Ngapuhi. Ururoa was more like vice president. Hone Heke was the first Ngapuhi Chief to sign based on Queen Victorias declaration to the chiefs who was represented by Henry Williams as translator that all land and resources are still obtained by the chiefs and all things they value.
