    One of the better K&K pure mini install videos here on YT, IMO. Thank you! Had a little trouble hearing you at points but I just rewound those parts! Cheers!

    I'm an experienced amateur luthier and found your video really excellent - I normally install piezo under saddles but keen to try this one. Thank you fro taking the time to out this up.

      jiefuster Thank you. I'm hoping to install another one into my Taylor Style 1, currently have an Lr baggs m80 in it. The k and k is half the price and I think a lot better, plus no magnetics in the k and k to impact on the strings' vibrations like the m80. Also planning on installing a pure mini classic into a good classical guitar soon, so keep an eye out for that, plus a review now I've had some time to use the pickup.

    I installed the end pin first this time but usually I install the other sensors first like K & K recommends. But I slipped up on the middle sensor and didn't place it on the jig position right. It closer to the Low E side so how do I get it loose and move it without damaging it. It gives me some feedback or I wouldn't try or have to. Do you have a best way?

    On my first of 3 sensors I got close to the edge of the saddle on the underside of the guitar. Will that matter in terms of sound quality? Im assuming as long as it’s secured and completely on the flat surface of the saddle inside the guitar it will work fine? I sure don’t want to have to re-position it because that would be a challenge. Please let me know.

      @@petecooke1707 Thanks, I've subscribed over there and will browse the videos. Thanks for creating them! I play nearly every Sunday at my Church so I'm actively playing guitar all the time. I love it very much so any tips, tricks or methods you have for continuing the learning experience would be great. I need to break-through playing in the Key of G so much. I do use a Capo but it would be nice to know some exercise routines or methods to break through to playing more Flats and barre chords so that the sounds are more dynamic. Anyway just thinking off the top of my head, since that's where I'm at in my guitar journey. Cheers!

    Can you use the string pegs to line up the template if you don't have the original kit?

  • @rowlandstraylight
    @rowlandstraylight 6 лет назад +1

    Be very careful using a drill bit like that, some are very brittle and can easily snap. An Allen key is probably better if you don't have a screwdriver that fits.

    Thanks for that excellent video. Could you write out what you're saying at 4:17 - 4:27, I don't understand it what you were saying acoustically. And I have another question: Why did you use a second nut outside the guitar, wouldn't be the strap-knob enough to tightening? Just wonder, because K&K delivers just the one nut for the inside with their pickups. Thanks much!

    • @petecooke1707
      @petecooke1707  7 лет назад +1

      Hello. At 4:17 I'm more or less saying, "Make sure the washer and the nut are fully wound back and that they are not preventing the endpin from going through the hole". At this point we are trying to match the hole we have drilled to the diameter of the end jack. If the washer and the nut on the jack are too far forwards they will stop you from being able to push the jack through, regardless of the size of the hole.
      The end cap is cut to fit a nut underneath itself. So personally I would fit one. I'm pretty sure mine came with that nut, I didn't go and buy one. Hope that helps.
      Visit sound tuition and please buy my books if you know anyone looking to learn guitar.

    Great video, cool name too :-), ive got a Takamine Ea10 and want to install the K&K but the Tak has a steel housing and no pegs, have you got any ideas on how to tackle that, i really would love the K&k mixed with the ust......thanks in advance.

    • @petecooke1707
      @petecooke1707  4 года назад +1

      Congratulations on the name 👍I'm not sure what you mean by steel housing... But if there aren't any string pegs that go through the bridge it's still totally possible to install the pickup. Because you can install the pickup into a classical guitar which doesn't have bridge pins. Hope that helps. Let me know if not and I'll try and suggest something else. If you get chance have a listen to my band Three in the Dark. I play uke on our album One More Yesterday and the uke has a k&k Ahola fitted to it. All the best.

    How about the extra amount of wire on the inside do you fasten is some how to keep if from vibrating against the body??

    • @soundtuition1280
      @soundtuition1280 5 лет назад

      Yeah definitely tape the wire down to avoid unwanted noise. 👍 Hope the video helped. Check out my Sound Tuition book series on amazon and Lulu. The series is available for guitar, bass, ukulele and piano. Just search for Sound Tuition Ultimate Guitar Textbook and the others should be easy enough to find. Best, Pete

      The manual suggests tightening the end pin so as to put a twist in the cable, so that it forms a loop - this will keep it away from the back and soundboard.

  • @brcole777
    @brcole777 6 лет назад

    others have put the pickup between the strings it appears you put the pickup on the ends directly in line with the E strings

    • @petecooke1707
      @petecooke1707  6 лет назад

      B Cole you can use blu tack to test the position of the pickups on top of the guitar and to see the different sounds, different positions create. I've always been happy with the result I obtained with this pickup. I used this guitar at a friend's wedding this weekend. Still sounds great. The output jack has come loose, so I need to tighten it, but otherwise the pickup is still performing excellently.

    Does pure acoustic guitar sound decrease after installing a pick up?

    • @petecooke1707
      @petecooke1707  5 лет назад

      Great question. I'm afraid I don't know the answer. But the output of these pickups is impressive. I also use an Ahola in my ukulele (basically the same pickup but with only two transducers instead of three) and the output is surprisingly high. I'd still recommend a preamp to make sure you can work with any system but output has never been a problem for me with these pickups.
