Finally somebody comes out and tells the truth. I am a great grandma now and I've always been living outside the box and I question everything but when I found out the truth about Vietnam it made me search for more trust concerning every war that we fought in the 20th century. The thing Oliver Stone leaves out as do all others commenting on history or politics is the fact that, after WW2; Bretton Woods which defined all currencies in relation to the dollar & our military with the Wars insure that the dollar remains as the world's reserve currency.
@@bitcoinbelle : Well yeah, maintaining the US dollar as the world's reserve currency is, more often than not, back behind all the wars we've had under Clinton, both Bushes, Obama, and Trump. These presidents have probably never thought about wars in this way, but they still have gotten us into wars for one reason or another. Eg. Just look at the gold which was held in the WTC basement vault at the time of 911 when no one can account for it missing now. Bretton Woods required all countries to reach parity, that is adjust their currencies value once a year, against the US dollar backed by gold, at least in international trade. Domestic trade and business is another matter.

It's challenging the context of American Patriotism its historical significance can not be denied, it is the essence of America's social revolution, it was nation building, serve a British Empire or build a Republic it was a brilliant catalyst, the rallying point and almost perfect as if it was pre ordained. Now stop for a moment and take a piece of British history, King John the Battle of Runnymede 1600's and a dour agrarian society oppressive and brutal ruled over by fifedoms of fuedal ancestry, a patchwork of wealthy landholders and inherent estates extended from Germanic ancestry. Wealth and power was essentially was the enslavement or bondage of people, there subjugation there repression. Such circumstances as exist for the rising up of common men that are made common by what they share which was hardship, toil, angst unanswered grieviance, loss of autonomy, they were bitter and they had nothing to lose. It is hard for a man to put bread on the table when there is no table Sounds like a rallying cry for a Bolshevik uprising, or a War of Independance, a Mao Tse Tung aspiration, or King John's Magna Carta. From such pivotal points as contagious as they may be greater Societies were built. In the modern context we have the expectation we may assert the same that some type of unifying experience will unite us all even though power has for centuries divided us, patriotism is the belief we should defend the nation. Yet there is a misapprehension we have politicised and Militarised every avenue of our freedom, we chose a path of enlightenment as intellectual reform, we became educated and the only time we changed our Society it was thru political reform. Our patriotism was either military service or the belief that we could defend a nation by making a greater sacrifice, our lives. We militarised the context when it had a much greater umbrage, Muhammad Ali was as great a patriot as any other American, he asserted his belief as an individual as a Freeman and a black American. When people become patriots it is not in servitude to the politics of the State, it is in defense of a Nation that has the character of freedom the liberty to choose, a system of justice and equality the same, the voice of reasoning is fair play for everyone, we will defend that as a soldier or a civilian afterall every one has the propensity to be a patriot.
Back in the Revolution, only 1/3 of the population were patriots, according to John Adams estimate, and all the soldiers were unpaid [the officers got paid alot more] Most ended up in debt. Read what Col.Alexander Hamilton who was sent with troops by Washington to collect taxes from the Whiskey making country folk thought of them and the Shays Rebellion. The Founders by 1787 were no longer the liberty loving patriots they said they were in the Revolution. Their drafted the Constitution which mostly served and protected their class, the white male property owning and commercial class, which gets the most from the Empire today .

And no, the French did not leave, but were getting ready to pull up stakes. When the U.S. could not successfully place an agreeable puppet regime in place to repress a thriving agricultural force and convert them to employees of Goodyear,Coca Cola, and various other industrialist trickbag operations, or by importing 100's of thousands of Catholics[S. Vietnamese converted by the French] to N. Vietnam as a way of softening them up by way of "religion", then they tried to achieve their goals thru the use of terrorist tactics via "military advisors" aka blackops, special forces, and other. Murder and mayhem was the the game. The fact they never declared war on these people tells it all. To refer to Vietnam, even abstractly as some trough for western plunder is obscene by and civilized measure.

Now the word "trough" may have many extended and very precise meanings but where I was raised the trough was either a "water trough" for watering the animals or it was the place where we fed the pigs "slop." And thus the slop that was fed to the pigs became a verb, "to slop the pigs." Also I think it might have been the Russian philosopher Gurdjieff (or his school) who came up with the term "hog in trough" to express those who lived life at the basest level and were the lowest type of people. Now, if you think it obscene to write a twenty word sentence and in that sentence suggest that those who started and conducted that bloody war in Vietnam were feeding at the trough, then I think your skin is simply too thin--perhaps because you have reacted without thinking and in the process have confused the means (language) with the ends which in this case was to communicate something important to people--in this case to help people to grasp the low quality of energy that was behind that war and no doubt in wars generally since one of the rarest of things is a Just war, eh? Now you can think that it is "obscene" to try to communicate what is truly obscene (war) till the cows come home, but I'm afraid you cannot do it without involving yourself always in contradiction. Lastly, it is not obscene to use any word that is the exact word needed to communicate with power something vital to those who heretofore have not seen it for themselves. That is what teaching is. But teaching so that all the facts are listed and placed in their proper places is not teaching. Why? Because "facts are stupid things until brought into relations with general principles." (Louis Agassiz) And facts that do not serve the understanding of those facts and which understanding requires the learning of those general principles is just, well, "memorization and regurgitation" and a perfect way to kill the spirits of those who when someone tells them to go and kill, will be happy to do it! And that is modern education which includes history and that is utterly obscene! It is also anti-education and anti-culture. Good luck to you! My friend tells me WWIII has already started. Yes, I believe that is correct because I think we have always been at war with our enemies, to some degree. I bet if we had a look in the presidential war room we would see a global chess game being played since the end of the last world war. There continue to be many casualties, not mentioned to the public. Make no mistake, all of our leaders carry the heavy burden of war strategy and avoidance of public casualties, every day. Leaders on both sides often communicate through mass media and spy intelligence, when they are not meeting face-to-face. When you hear someone complain about; area 51, military testing, political posturing, maneuvers, expenses, and secrets of intelligence departments, it is assumed that those people are hired spies, of our enemies, trying to get information the average U.S. citizen does not need!

Patriotism, love of one's country. seems to guise pride of Life notions & esteeming one flesh above another where it leads to alot of what is forbidden. Shedding blood. Root cause "l.et us make us a name"(genesis11:4) at the tower of babel debacle: we're provoking God's wrath upon us as our fathers did then. Hence all the disorder & many evil dynamics due to establishing our morality instead of God's in Christ.
Oliver makes a point when he says there is no "Peace Party," I am not too sure what good one would do, but, a pleasant thought. A good reminder of how many countries do not like the U.S. because of our liberties and rights. They dislike having to keep their citizens from defecting to the U.S. The question is how many U.S. citizens, residences, and nationals would pledge allegiance, to the U.S., to the end, if our enemies brought war to our coasts and how many would flee back to their country of origin? That is a theory all of our enemies would like to test.

Jay Warren Clark, a country boy who spent his whole life in schools first studying for many many years, and then teaching, i.e., helping people to use use our inheritance in History, Literature, Philosophy, etc., to wake up to what it means to be a human being.

Blocbuster discussion with Oliver Stone!
Sorry, with all due respect to Mr Sjursen, I tuned into listen to Oliver Stone, 4 minutes in on 23 min piece, he hasn't said a word yet.
No but it was nice to encounter a polite listener. 😊
Again the Pentagon, shitload of money there. Hmm, interesting

I'm done writing for now. I'm pretty much ready for action, I already have my title, format idea, even characters, blah, blah, blah, I hate typing, and my hand writing is the worst. I do best talking. Just being me. I am done with this typing, I have big fingers , plus arthritis.
Oh, analogy, I was a slave for 23 yrs.

I'm not moving for just anybody. I know my worth. These people are sewer level characters.
Danny you're the shit buddy!
Nothing has really changed...sad
Nail in coffin. Q
Bush - Cheney really set u guys on a bad path.
