Double Tap Playground is a great training pack to work on aerial reads, fast jumping, aerial first touches, directional air-roll, aerial clears, aerial passing, wall to air touches, etc. GREAT pack that translates well into game scenarios and freeplay reinforcement.
Dude. I’ve literally been looking for a video exactly like this since summer started and i have more time to play now, so i wanna maximize my learning. This is perfect
The problem with training packs is that I may not think about approaching the shot that a high caliber players would. If all training packs came with a corresponding video as to how to do each shot it would be much better
I have always wondered why this was never a thing. Fighting game tutorials will show you a “video” of how something is executed (combos, mechanics, etc) I would love to see what the pack creator had in mind when they set up a shot.
That would be nice but we have workarounds sometimes. Recently when I had no idea how to approach the shot I just search on YT how someone is doing that, simply by writing "Rocket League PACK_NAME" ;D
I'm get mixed feelings about these well constructed, heavily informative videos... They are extremely helpful for all ranks but they improve alot of people's game. Creates freaks that destroy me in 1v1!
For Aerials, I feel like I improved a lot quicker in free play on Pillars than I did in rings as it was easier to repeat the same conditions, whereas with rings I may not get to that same scenario right away and instead may need to play through to get to it. This method will only take me so far but for me this is where rings comes into it, especially now that I have a better understanding of my cars controls while in the air.
I like how you are caring to much to show us the real way to train so we dont commit to do the things in the wrong order and at the wrong way. Good luck man, and for everyone leave a like (to the video, not the comment) and keep working on.
I disasgree in regards to training packs. Training packs often times do too much work for you. One thing I had to learn the hard way for air dribble setups. In free play you still have to do everything so it's reinforcing good training habits.
For air dribbles yes training packs do everything for you but think about this from a 3v3 and 2v2 scenario. Are you constantly 1v3’ing? No. You are receiving passes in to double taps or flip resets, you’re making weird reads off the back board and ceiling, you’re saving balls from awkward positions. I trust ghost gaming’s Shock a lot more than some plat in a comment section still needing a training pack for air dribbles im just saying.
Training packs aren't there to teach you everything. Like he said in the video you isolate things. You learn airdribbles without doing everything yourself focusing only on the airdribble itself. When you're confident doing them you start to set them up yourself. It will be way easier to do because you already know how to do the hardest part.
For aerial car control I have to say that I really like to use the Pillars map in freeplay mode. Also there is a good workshop map for that called "Slaloms Practice". Of course there is also the dreaded "Rings" map, but if you just start out learning, I find the rings to be a bit too challenging at first. When I started learning how to control my air rolls I really liked, that on Pillars you could get a good training while you have a bit more space to get used to air rolling in flight. You don't have that on rings or the slalom.
I'm just tunnel vision focusing on Wayton's dribble pack then never getting a catch in 2s or 3s. Feels good being able to balance a ball on the roof of my car tho. Some day I'll do something useful
Recently decided that i dont want to play for a rank anymlre. I wasnt having fun because i was trying to push into to c3. I made it to c2 in about 350 hours and i hit a wall. I thought i understood more then i did and know i decided to just train and try and enjoy the game.
I have a hard time learning mechanics in Freeplay or training packs, it's actually easier for me to learn in games. I use aerial all star for stability and uncomfortable saves for calmness and I'm gud to go.
Isn't it better to train air dribble in free play, if you train it in free play you can train the set up + carry which you don't in training pack (only the carry since the ball is rolling).
Agreed. This is a problem I see with friends who train flip resets and air-dribbles through training packs. They always mess up the set ups in game. Good set ups are fundamental for being able to pull stuff off in game.
He stated if your trying to learn something from scratch then do it like that. However if you are looking to hone in that mechanic with more consistency then freeplay which I very much like how it was explained & heavily agree.
@@jawwilson5864 agreed for the most part. I feel like the freeplay checkpoint plug-in would be even better to learn the fundamentals of something like a flip reset 1 by 1
Being on console not able to use workshop maps is suuuch a bummer ijust wanna get my air roll down pat where I’m consistently getting perfect air dribble ball and car control can consistently hit flip resets and not having rings is a bummer. Wall to air dribble pack I’m stuck with
Question. I'm having a hard time controlling my car while trying to get in good positions in the air using airroll and stuff. I kinda keep losing control or turn the opposite way since its inverted ones upside down or when falling from the top of the map. Any tips?
Yeah. Press directional air roll and then move your joystick and watch where you go. Then start flying up, down, left, and right by duplicating what you saw. It's not more complicated than that. All the repetition is doing is making it so you can do those things without thinking about it. You don't NEED rings to do it.
@@the8413 I agree, I am console however everything else can be done in freeplay anyway. Just an added bonus that pc has although I would love to see the implementation one day!
What was that from 2:05 to 2:12? Looked like the second flip was used right after leaping off the wall, but then there was another flip without a flip reset. Am I blind? Is this a BakkesMod thing? Edit: one other random thought re: training packs, especially for console players - the new update gives you mirror shot and shuffle shot features, so you can keep larger packs (i.e. Poquito packs) interesting and unpredictable for a lot longer. Less inclined to prejump as well since you can't memorize the order of shots if they're shuffled. :)
a tip I have been grinding the rocket pass, currently tier 95, don't do this I have spent so many hours in games it has caused so much frustration that I have dropped rank from c2 to d3. I feel like RL needs to feel fun in order for your rank to go up as it puts you in a bad mindset
Does anyone actually make advice videos for strict console players that don't get access to workshops and plug ins? Like it really seems that without access to them we're losing out big time training. I truly appreciate this video for tips with the new free play changes. I wish I could change the shortcuts because it eliminates one of my air roll buttons
I'm now able to stay in c1 in 2s but I'm about as non mechanical as it gets, I keep planning to start doing rings maps (never even tried before) Is it worth trying rings with almost no aerial control? I can go for very basic aerial shots in game but I really struggle further than that
I'm in a similar situation as you. I'm c1 in 3s and I just recently started doing rings every other time I get on to play. I'll just do it for 10-15 minutes, and can definitely tell that I have gotten better after about 10 sessions. Haven't quiet implemented it into my game yet, but I can tell I have a bit more car control than before. It takes time though, and you won't feel the benefit at first
I'm also going to do more ground dribbling in freeplay as a way to get better at my ball control same time as aerial control. But I think the most important thing is to have fun. If you don't want to train one day, don't. Just start playing and enjoy yourself.
