Since I'm posting this video an entire week after filming, I can give you the week-after update (I usually still see the effects from the last trial for the entirety of week #1 in a new trial - makes sense given skin turnover rates). I usually experience breakouts in the last week of the month, and I did on the drugstore side. However, the high end side stayed completely clear. And once I switched to Good Molecules (which is all fragrance-free), my pores started to look better! It makes me suspect there's a balance to be found: perhaps a blend of those high end, potent products plus straightforward drugstore products to round OUT the routine....might actually be pure perfection on my difficult skin type? Anywho, thanks for watching and I hope you all enjoyed! ☺️
Silly question maybe, but a coworker and I were talking about breakouts awhile back. Is the side that broke out the side you use your phone on, or the side you sleep on?
I talk on my right side (the high end side). Unsure on sleeping - only recently found out that I apparently flip over onto my back in my sleep. Serious objection to never knowing that LOL! 😂
It's really a journey a to figure out which products are going to work best on each persons skin. Especially dealing with combination allergy prone skin or dry breakout prone skin. I've found that my skin really needs some sort of light exfoliating frequently or I end up dealing with congested pores and acne + dryness which is just so difficult. Botanics All Bright cleansing hibiscus toner has really helped my skin because it's such a mild AHA that I can use daily and it's like $7. My Peach Slices snail rescue toner has become a holy grail for me as it does seem to help treat my acne but also hydrate and soothe. Thank you so so much for recommending snail! I'll never be without snail again and the Peach Slices one is cruelty free so I love it so much. Haven't tried the Cosrx one yet. ❤
So excited about this video! I knew exactly which side was which. The drugstore side definitely didn't have as much "glass skin" vibes (cough oil cough), but I also thought it actually looked more even toned on the drugstore side. Before you go and repurchase that No7 retinol, definitely think you should buy the Stratia retinol. It's way cheaper and I'm pretty sure you get more as it is technically in a moisturizer. Actually, considering the relatively low price of Stratia, that may not be a bad choice for your first full brand review of the year. They only have like 5 products anyway.
OH you just gave me so much affirmation on my purchase 😍 so I bought: the Stratia retinol and the 3-pc mini kit. I guess the retinol is a newer product of theirs, but I figured I would go for it as that's an ingredient that I'm very consistent with! Can't wait to try it!! 😁
Loved this video! So helpful! In warm weather countries, essences are so helpful because you get a boost of hydration without the heavy stickiness of some moisturisers, which feels real icky in high humidity.
Oh god it's so frustrating. I understand questioning the safety of certain ingredients (to an extent vs blindly though). But "free of chemicals!??" I cannot believe I've actually seen people make such claims. How hilarious. We're full of chemicals aaaah (scream fades into distance)
It's so true. I think I still prefer Tula's clearing gel. It's 2% salicylic, azelaic acid, contains probiotic ingredients, fragrance-free, and not too pricey either!

This was very interesting. Makes me want to crack open the bottle of fresh essence I have, but I need to finish a few other things first. It really reminded me how much I love that essence. I think for a lot of people a mix of different price points is the way to go. At least it is for me. If you haven’t tried Geek & Gorgeous I highly recommend them, though I’m not sure if you would have to pay import taxes since they ship from Hungary. They use DHL and shipping is usually super fast.
Ooh that's a brand I've been eyeing for a while now! Good to hear they use DHL tbh. That seems to be the absolute fastest delivery option - sometimes faster than USPS 😳

I really appreciate product comparison videos, particularly ones based on the price point. However, it's such a hard category because there are other variables to consider: (1) Price is subjective. (2) Consumers unconsciously believe higher prices equate to more value; (3) Conversely drug store products are inferior (which you proved by saying that $24 bucks is too pricey for the drug store; (4) many high end product costs' have less to do with ingredients and efficacy, but demand a higher price because of brand name, better packaging, and more elaborate marketing. Alice, I wish you would've raised the stakes and did your series on the better drug store brands like L'oreal, Olay, Aveeno and Neutrogena. I'm sure those would've outperformed many overpriced counterparts. Paula Begoun dispelled the myth about high priced products years ago. This was fun. Hope you do it again soon.
You know, the funny thing is that my past experience with those brands has been underwhelming! As of right now, I genuinely think elf, the ordinary, Inkey List, etc outperform L'Oreal, Olay, etc Buuuut. I also admit it's been a while since I've revisited those brands. Let me know some recs and I'll absolutely try them (the new Aveeno oat line is on my to try list as well)

OK.... I can't handle it..I love cute things too, collection of itty bitty face oils bottles...I have to buy a few different colors of favorite things...ugh...
Oils are so visually appealing! Especially those with natural tints to them (ie pale greens, pale yellows, so pretty)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole And such mild relaxing scents..;-)
Maybe use the word synthetic in lieu of chemical? 💚
True, i can understand that perspective!
I just put my essence in a spray bottle and spritz it directly on my face.
Ooh the Secret Key? That might be the perfect solution!
I did that a while ago with elf's essence and it...clogged (of course it did, it's thick lol🤦♀️) but I can see SecretKey's essence working well in a sprayer!
That's actually pretty smart. Will need to do that. 🤩
As of right now, I genuinely think elf, the ordinary, Inkey List, etc outperform L'Oreal, Olay, etc
Buuuut. I also admit it's been a while since I've revisited those brands. Let me know some recs and I'll absolutely try them (the new Aveeno oat line is on my to try list as well)
Retinol and my skin are not friends.😳😳😳❌⭕❌
Fresh is not cruelty free, so its products cannot be vegan.🥺
Oh wow I thought they were. I see you're right though 😟
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Not always great to be right.
Truth right there! I deeply hope China does follow through on their promise to stop all animal testing by 2021... hopefully we find out soon

We are getting ready for a storm here. How bad hard to predict. We will get snow ,sleet and freezing rain. He is getting generators ready and he wanted me to get all the candles together. They are. Crossed fingers 🤞. Just a bit, not a bunch. Back to the video❌
Oh wow...definitely good to be prepared! Stay safe!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole True. We are ready for the worst hoping for the best..🌷
