This is easily the best round i've seen from heartzel. Hiss felt less concise, and while individual parts of it were amazing(especially that last drop), together it was a bit underwhelming. Really interesting to see other perspectives on it though, this battle is gonna be close
I agree with your analysis. Heartzel choosing to battle Hiss with a musical routine is putting himself at a disadvantage. He should’ve gone hard style (which he’s comfortable with) to try overpower Hiss’s round, imo
Honestly I don't see hiss losing this. Heartzel Started to sound very repetitive to me (a similar case to dropical) obvy in the sense that he's switched to musicality is fresh but the range of sound is the same. Which can also be argued that it's simply style however if you look towards hiss's round he clearly reused an abundance of sounds as a style choice as well just like heartzel but he still had fresh techniques to offer.
And the style switch made Hiss' counter hit less harder, since the counter implied that he can do Heartzel's style. But Heartzel brought something fresh to table with a more musical routine
I actually disagree with you on this one but I think it comes down to preference. As a side note I hate the binary judging system because it lacks nuance and does a disservice to the levels we see in battles. Hiss - Hiss' musical style doesn't really resonate with me that well and I find it a bit boring but his technical side lacks originality to me for the same reason that Zer0's style doesn't feel that original. Both Hiss and Zer0 are incredible beatboxers and I can't take that from them nor would I want to but they are very heavily reliant on common sounds and doing those common sounds at a high level which works but it makes it hard to stand out in my eyes. Without a doubt Hiss was far more technically sound in this battle and I'm content with giving that point to him. Hiss' counter was lacking as well because his sounds, inward bass especially, don't hit nearly as hard as Heartzel's and in order to have a good counter it must at least be equal if not better imo. Heartzel - His track was far catchier to me. The track is more memorable and definitely something I could see myself listening to more than just a couple times. His singing wasn't incredible but it was good enough to be surprising that he could sing at all. When I listen to Heartzel, I know it's Heartzel because of how unique he is. He reused his whole sound palette from his wildcard and top 16 round here but it felt like the application was different, the tempo was different, the structure of some of his patterns were different and it was enough to give off a whole new vibe. Heartzel's counter wasn't that great either so I feel neither deserved the battle point. Lastly, Heartzel's track felt like a cohesive piece while Hiss' track felt like multiple sections which was weird because for both of these beatboxers it's usually the other way around. Still a good video and I appreciate your point of view as you're more knowledgeable about beatbox than me.
I agree on everything but I do see hiss round as a cohesive round. I see both heartzel and hiss in a good structure and composition. I didnt mention it but there was a part where a think heartzel lost energy and Flow, cant remember where. But yeah I think the subjective part has a lot to do with this. I try to be very objective in my analysis, for example with jordox. I didnt liked what he did but I can recognize that he won.
@@serousbeatbox8460 I still think that Hiss is going to win on the grounds that he was more versatile as an artist in this battle but if I had to base it purely on gut feeling I think Heartzel was just better even with his flaws. Heartzel just maintained such a high level of enjoyability for me throughout whereas Hiss' trumpet drop and ending were the only parts I really cared about in his round. I think you articulate your judging better than pretty much all other reactors so I look forward to when you react to battles. Edit - Also the pattern flip by Hiss was impressive I forgot to mention that.
Completely disagree with you there but thanks for your reaction and view. Like first off, obviously the judges prefer a musical piece over technical and this format allows everyone to do pretty well in it cus the rules are loose. So it wouldn't be smart using tech against anyone in this format cus from the previous battles, musical pieces had an advantage (literally, enjoyment of listening). Second it's really not that obvious that Harzel is not musical or that he's the tech guy? Don't know where that cames from but yeh. People know him as mostly well rounded beatboxer with an awesome bass and a great structure and good sense for musicality (his first known piece is that shout-out where he does that black pink cover and that superb bass structured beat.. both of which are pretty musical if you ask me.. you can't reductively define music, just when it has trumpets and someone singns) . And what is obvious from this is that he def has a far better voice, singing ability from the two and he utilised it perfectly. And man i'll be coming back to Harzels round as it's so bloody catchy, and I can't say the same thing for Hiss. And doesn't that mean that Hartzels song was more successful? But yeh that's subjective. What's not subjective is that Hiss's structure was pretty inconsistent and made little sense overall. He literally changed beats w/o any transition that made sense. it sounds just like a nice sounding patch work. The only thing, imo, going for Hiss is his slightly better sound production.
I can agree in averything except for the fact that u really think heartzel sings better. That automatically makes me see you have a poor sense of hearing. Also I dont need to remind you that im following the judging system not my guts.
@@serousbeatbox8460 i watched several reactors and they all said that Heartzel has a really good singing voice, but i guess singing might be subjective in this case but I've never heard hiss sing longer displaying his singing abilities so it's difficult to say. But i still stand by my opinion that Heartzel singing is superior. And when it comes to judging criteria you followed, in the light of the points i made, it makes sense that Heartzel could win this one. I do feel you made gut prediction, as it were, and there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that I disagree
