He's one of the most talented youngster ever. But remember Dimitrov who never reached his potential. I hope he will stay humble. If he does, he might be the next n°1
The final against Quinn will be interesting, another talented youngster who also has a tremendous forehand. Quinn's serve is tremendous too. Not sure Fonseca will win this time. But he's so talented !
Champion with not a single break point faced and not even playing good... he made Quinn look like an average player, THAT'S the caliber of player/prospect we're talking about
@Sam-cv1wn He's very strong. Takes the ball so early. And he's very quick too on his feet. Already looks like a top 10 player, which he should very soon if he keeps playing like that
This ship has sailed. 4 Australians, 1 French, 1 American, 1 Swiss, 1 Thai. The WC distribution is just one of the many features of pro tennis that serve to exacerbate inequalities. Any South American who manages to overcome all the barriers imposed on them plus the boosts given to their opponents (such as WCs) to become a top 100 player deserves my utmost respect.
Ganhou o atp Next gen. 2020 não começou em um final igual Fonseca. Perdeu na segunda rodada do Ao. Não jogou Qualy.
The same people who exaggerate so early will be the same ones who will criticize him when he naturally loses! He will enter the ATP level and will start facing experienced guys, top players who will know how to read his game and current weaknesses, and this will be extremely important for his maturation. What importance does it have to discuss whether or not he is the best under 20? I wonder: Do these people really watch the sport? I don't think so.
I agree with you. Not because of the "exaggerated-enthusiasm-&-its-pointless-discussions" itself, I think it's normal and happens all the time in different sports. But because I know how these bubbles of enthusiasm with a rising athlete in Brazil tend to become huge, volatile and eventually toxic, much more than in other countries (and quite different too). To understand the "vibe" of this bubble just look at the flood of enthusiastic-cringe-jingoist-comments on every Fonseca-related post in any social media ...

Extremely complete, super fit, infinitely agile and mentally super strong.
I agree with you on everything mate, I would say when I watch Fonseca, his one weakness seems to be the forehand return. He seems to naturally want to chip it back a lot rather than hit more of a drive return.
It's still an hyperbole mate. You somehow e.g. leave out Alcaraz who won a slam and was number one at 19, won Madrid beating Zverev, Djokovic and Nadal back to back in that tournament. Your take on Nadal is a bit daft, yes he won mainly clay court events but he won 11 titles in one season including Roland Garros being 19 yo, and he did beat top players at a young age (e.g. Moya when he was 16 years old, Roddick Davis Cup) but also Federer who was at the height of his powers. The point is: Fonseca is a great talent, and already a relatively complete game, exciting prospect and we are all happy he will enter the tour. But he really doesn't need these hyperboles / hyping / statements.
@@fwvw7056 I'm brazilian and die-hard Fonseca supporter but you're totally right - these hyperboles could put an unnecessary pressure on João and his team

Agree. Landaluce did not play very well today, Quinn was too strong.

I already set aside US$10k for this.

Wow are you a drug dealer isn't it? Only reason to do such a bet is that... Money laundering isn't it?
He should be in AO main draw. AO authorities should give him WC.
