TVD brought me here. I was crying so much during the finale of Season 3.
It's crazy how a song in which you have no idea what it's saying has the power to make you cry this hard.
Icelandic does have that effect in my opinion.
Try listening to their song Andvari. Truely heartbreaking.
Hector Lamar andvari is not written in Icelandic. It's in english!! But andvari and Dauoalogn are by far my two favorite songs from Sigur ros.

I found this song because of The Vampire Diaries. It's so powerful and beautiful. I don't know what this song is about, but I cry when I listen to it. I'm so glad I found it on my favorite tv show. I think it means 'dead calm', and that only makes it more beautiful. I love it so so so much. Props to all those who worked on this song!

I don’t understand the language and have absolutely no idea what the lyrics mean yet but this song is one of the most beautiful, unexplainable feeling songs. It could make me cry but also make me feel grounded in where I am. It makes me miss people, and miss my loved ones and friends who have passed away.

One friend said to me that he has not listened sigur ros much. Immediately I took the responsibility and started creating my top 10 sigur ros playlist in Spotify to introduce him to voice of angel. I picked 9 songs without any hassle, but it was a tough figuring out the tenth song which would go into the list as some heavy contenders were piling up for place. So I started listening to some of the remaining songs I had in mind for this tenth place, listened all of them and then when they were finished this song started playing in autoplay,it is late at night and this song brought up deep emotions from the crevasses of my heart, gave me a feeling of content that my life is beautiful and I need to enjoy it. The song went on and I was floating along with it. Then it end and my room was silent with only the blue night lamp's light flooding me. The post-silence and the experience was so profound that it decided for me the tenth place.
And I told myself one day I would found someone who can share this experience with me.

Okay, it's been almost a year since I posted this, so I'm just coming back to clear things up. I did NOT mean whatsoever that I'm a robot that never cries or anything. I just meant that I don't cry very easily and that this song is special to me because it is one of the few that DOES make me cry.

I was also introduced to this incredible music through Vampire Diaries. I searched for it as soon as the episode finished.
It's great when another piece of media introduces you to something beautiful, that you wouldn't have experienced otherwise.
This group in my opinion, has perfected the art of invoking emotion through music. After reading through some of the comments, it seems we all share the same sentiment.
The entire Valtari album always brings me to tears but there's something about this one, especially around 4:30 when Jonsi repeats the chorus and highers his voice. Absolutely beautiful yet so heartwrenching at the same time.
Elena sacrificed herself to save Matt just like her dad did and the way they edited it with this song was just epic❤️❤️

I've never actually heard a song that makes me feel SO emotional that I tear up. This song just did that. I've never felt so ethereal and captivated by a song before and I'm a genuine music lover. This song is so incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I can't put into words how it makes me feel; just other-worldly I guess. Wow.

What's cool about Sugur Ros is that they use a combination of Icelandic and a language that they made up. Sometimes it is actually just ramblings that don't actually hold a meaning in any traditional language. I find this absolutely awe-inspiring. They can tell a story through words they only know the meaning of.

I need to be there not America, America is everything my soul doesn't want, this is the world we should all know and then we would find peace, if your reading this im a fellow human and take this as a hug from me if you needed one today. It's an idea I've had in my head for a long time, of course a very personal idea, but one with big ramifications. The idea is to divulge this empathic state of mind through discourse and to change the people and the world. More listening and less shouting, more coming around rather than closing ourselves off. Peace and reasonability, mostly.
In many of our lives, empathy isn't the standard. People tend to go off on our own, and the default response to injustice is either not to care or not to act. That'd be most of my surroundings in a nutshell. But I don't think many of us do bad things willingly. It takes a mix of ignorance and misinformation. Both these things can easily go away, but you need to understand mass society.
We can build this world, no matter how small the consequence may appear, if we work ceaselessly in our lives. Whether it's an internet hug, passive compliment, or a drawn-out episode of providing help, all of it matters. Not to say that it is always enough, but brightening up the environment in a real and not superficial sense does wonders. Don't be caught in a web of despair. Waiting on our kids and grandkids won't do any good in realizing the vision. Such vision is possible in the here and now.
I'd much appreciate some empathic voices in the New World. I value all perspectives, but bouncing ideas off other people who embody this personality is a very helpful exercise. Don't hesitate to reach out to me.
