- I received this disc as part of a promotional giveaway from 3M Abrasives. Today I finally get a chance to see if it is actually worth it's money.

Oh damn that was quick. I do a fair bit of restoration type work so something that doesn't take too much Base material away would be handy, think I'll pick up a few and see how they do. Cheers Ben I hadnt seen these before

They seem to work well. It made quick work of rust on this steel.
I think I'll have to try one after seeing that. I hope it will clean paint off without packing up like a flapdisk, And the version 2 flexvolt grinder due out soon claims to have 30% more power with the same runtime, super impressive if its true.
When it due to come out? I’ll be all over it.
@@txtoolcrib Just spring 2020, home depot has been having sales on the current model since December so its gotta be soon. I'm super impressed with my 2yr old current gen model. If you get one please do a comparison video!

Would you recommend using on plastic or will it scratch?
I would imagine as quickly as it ate into that rust it would be pretty abrasive on plastic. I don’t think I would recommend this disc for that application.
@@txtoolcrib thanks for the feedback. Anything you would recommend for plastic? I have plastic/acrylic spindles for my handrails and I recently had the handrails stained which left a lot of leftover stain on the spindles and I'm having an awfully hard time getting it off
Are they smooth or textured?
You might try a fine grade resin sanding disc.

What is millscale?
It is the hard black layer of iron oxides that form on the outside of steel during the milling process. It is formed when the steel is hot rolled at the mill.
Most people would use it for paint removal, not rust removal.
