Thanks for the info on the thermocouple!! After running our trailer WH on propane, our water heater was out the next day for BOTH electric and propane. Connections were all good, but the thermocouple did fail (bypassing it -> WH working again). Apparently the burner flamed back enough. Now, to clean out the combustion chamber so we can run safely on propane again. Thanks again for the education on the functional parts of the water heater. VERY helpful!!
After dozens and dozens of videos ordering a new computer circuit board 2 weeks without hot water could not figure it out you were the only one that mentioned THERMAL COUPLER. And just like that my problem is solved thank you very much! You are the next guy I'm going to buy an RV from where you at?

Thank u for the video the thermal coupler was what my problem was as soon as I unhooked it and plugged it in Direct it came on .thanks u saved me some money.
Great video!!!! Thanks!!! Really helpfull!!! By the way my tube was clogged with spider thread and it always catches fire where there is holes (adjustable) for air entrance. The protection blow the first time the fire happen. IMPORTANT: The protection stop both propane and electric heating!!!! Perhaps you could add that information eventually ;-) !!! Very easy to clean.
I am using a normal water tank, not one that came with the Rv,having a difficult time getting hot water, it's going through the water lines, just not sure if the water is going in the actual water tank
I got a hot water tank just like this, and suddenly it's completely dead no power at all! both systems propane and electric we're working very well but the electric was straining a bit. next water was leaking out the plug and then the water pressure release valve so I had to change them both, but it leaked for a couple weeks. and now there's totally no power
Hey Carmen! There could be a handful of different reasons you're not getting hot water and unfortunately it would be hard to diagnose over the internet. If you followed all of the steps in this video and you're still not getting hot water, we'd recommend taking it to your local shop to have it looked at. Best of luck!
Hello, Gayle! The coupler very well could be the problem, although it's tough to know exactly without being able to look at your water system. We would suggest following the steps in the video and if it doesn't solve the problem, bringing it in to your nearest RV Service shop for them to take a look would be the next best step. Thanks for watching!
