Doug, great review. I want a dashcam for a very limited purpose, i.e. my periodic 2 day drives to Florida and back. My car is NOT dashcam friendly (1 power port tucked at the bottom of the center console). I don't care about a dashcam for everyday driving and not interested in parking mode, etc. I just want the 15 minutes around any accident/incident. This cam seems to fit my needs with its looping function. I would probably power it from an external battery, stowed somewhere safe. Or just swap out the internals at my "pee breaks." My question is: for my purposes I dont want to use the water housing (overheating issues). Can i mount this (naked) on a dash mount and if so, can you recommend a good but inexpensive dashboard mount?
One think I want to point out... just as a counter thought. Your video from this camera is 100% useless in court because it isn't locked and there for could have been altered. That's the big difference from a real dashcam. Uhmm.. Dashmounts are a dime a dozen on Amazon. I have never found one that I loved, they all kind of suck a little bit. I prefer the giant sucktion cup to the window but the unit I use is genuinely enourmous.

@@DOUGandNIKI I am seeing more positive reviews for ek7000.. but ek7000 I am seeing also has touch screen in addition to everything else the regular ek7000 does.. so I am leaning more towards ek7000 pro. Thank you very much
I have to ask what kind of microSD card (and its specs) did you get for the camera? As well as what settings you had for the video (resolution, ISO, etc.) because I just got a Brave 4 (because it's very budget friendly) but my video is coming out noisy/grainy.
So, I almost always use Sandisk Extreme's for my microSD cards. I don't remember exactly what settings I used, this review was a while ago and I've tested/used so many camera's since then! I generally try not to do crazy custom setups when I do these because I think it's not really representative of what a normal user's experience will be so I normally leave it the way it was out of the box. Are you using yours in full light or low light?
I ordered this from Amazon based on your video, great video by the way! I will be using it on the end of a fishing rod, lowering it down around 90 feet deep, then observing schools of fish, structure, etc in the ocean. Is there a way I could view the video while doing this? If not, then is the best way to reel it back up, take out the card, insert into a laptop, and view the video that way? Thanks!
Getting them is easy...you just take the memory card and put it in a memory card reader and then you can copy them over to your computer easy. Editing is a long conversation but one you should check out because it's fun! I'm not an expert on telling people how to do that so you'll have to do a little searching here on RUclips but there are entire channels oriented around that. You'll find great help and tutorials that way. Enjoy the camera!
This is actually the first one I've tested. They don't provide them for me, I'm buying them and trying them and this one seemed like a great balance of performance and cost so that's why I bought it for myself.
Thanks for this video. I did have a question, does it have a USB C port so I could connect and power a wireless mic receiver? Or would I need a different camera? I've heard the GoPro's don't offer that feature but some others do but I can't find anything that talks about external microphones.
Your outside of what I know. Even with GoPro's which have USBC's you need a special adapter to use them for audio. Your going to need to ask Akaso about that.
You know...your the second person who asked that and it's making me think I should do a time test in future videos. I'm not exactly sure but it was inline with what my GoPro's were doing it wasn't like I was changing the battery twice in the AKASO for every time I went through a battery on the GoPro.
