I think it’s unfair to knock Stockton down like that because of his “iron man career”. That’s a HUGE accomplishment to even last that long at the highest level, let alone at 12 apg. Punishing a player for consistently showing up and playing great for 15+ seasons sounds ridiculous.

I totally agree - like while I think it’s hard to not give the nod to Stockton in this category (and steals tbh), I can accept Magic, but when the reason is because Stockton was so consistent you’ve totally lost my support.

Quality over quantity I think is how this is being viewed. Kareem, Malone, LeBron are not better scorers than mj but they all have him beat in total due to longevity. Mj and Stockton are pretty on par in the steals category but mj averaged more per game and more per play off game where it matters more.

10.5 APG over 19 seasons (Stockton) is so much more impressive than 11.2 APG over 13 seasons (Magic). Just because Stockton wasn't a flashy player, he'll never get the recognition he deserves. The fact that he didn't win a championship doesn't have anything to do with the guy's passing ability, but it seems that it does somehow...

Lost arc? Not really, every great scorer today had great success from the mid-range.
And recently, the Cleveland Cavaliers young squad are impressive from those spots.
But, with the great three-point shooter we are seeing today, the mid-range won't be the bread and butter of any offensive schemes, even if the Bucks won it all despite struggling from downtown.

Great video. We have a few differences in opinion though. I think Hakeem takes the edge in shot blocking. The all time best at steals you have basically based on seasons played. I feel like Alvin Robertson is the greatest all time his career was not very long though. And Rebounding is Dennis IMO. Wilt and Russell’s totals are misleading. Pace was faster and shooter were less efficient so there were more opportunities to get boards. Dennis would’ve averaged 28 back then too

And that MJ is a better stealer of the ball because even tho John has a crazy lead over MJ it was all due to him playing more games witch would be a complement and that MJ was focused on offense and if he could put more effort into playing defense he would’ve have more steals I know this is long but just had to say it like come on🤦🏾‍♂️

  • @joshuachang5210
    @joshuachang5210 2 года назад

I got into this vid from a video and oh boy, what a casual. Raw rebound numbers almost means nothing; players like chamberlain and Russell play almost all 48 minutes per game, and the teams pace were high and efficiency was low. Rodman on the other hand was in a entirely opposite situation. This can be somewhat adjusted by rebound percentage, and Rodman stands out with that metric.
Also, taking about stealing the ball without even mentioning the name of Alvin Robertson is just criminal. He was literally the only (not so sure but probably the first at least) player to achieve a quadruple double with steals!
Another should-be honorable mention for midrange should be Dirk Nowitzki, and you can argue that he’s even more unstoppable due to height. Even when he’s at the age of 35, he can still shoot over 50% from midrange, which is crazy accuracy even without considering how contested his shots are.
Finally, after Rick Barry changed his free throw to granny style, his percentage at the line is over 92%. Had he applied the technique earlier in his career, his career free throw percentage record will probably be unbreakable

John Stockton had 5 years with more APG than Johnson’s BEST year. Stockton’s longevity actually hurt his per game stats not helped. If by best passer you mean flashiest, then Stockton isn’t the guy. But if you mean most effective passer, then Stockton is the best passer in NBA history and it isn’t even close. Ask Kidd.
Alex English was the best midrange shooter all time. He scored more points during the vaunted ‘80s than any other player and virtually all of them were inside the 3 point line and outside of 10 feet. Jordan was a better player but not a better midrange shooter.
Alvin Robertson is without a doubt the best ball thief in the history of the NBA. He has the all time steals per game career and season, most steals in a season, and the only player in league history to have a quadruple double with steals. The guy was solid all around as well. Unsung guy for sure.
I would agree that Eaton is the best shot blocker since the stat has been kept, but Wilt once blocked 26 shots in a single game. Wilt is absolutely the best shot blocker ever…period.
Wilt is also the best defender in history. Wilt was 7’2” with agility speed and leaping ability that is hard to believe. He was a track and field athlete before basketball and competed in sprints, triple jump an high jump. Those track stats are recorded at sanctioned events. They aren’t myth. He could literally guard any position.
He was known for stealing the as well as blocking shots. Rodman wouldn’t hold a candle to Wilt.
