Man I feel like these guys don't know what their talking about on this. Pope didn't just grab whoever he could get. A lot most people didn't know he was going after them then boom. Next a lot of them Pope had played against a decent amount in the Big 12. He had guys he wanted, guys he had gone after at BYU like Kieresa. Pope passed on some bigger names and looked to fill his spots with his style, plan. As far as Perry I heard the same thing with Reed last year. Now I know Perry isn't on that level but he's a dead eye shooter. All time leading scorer in Kentucky history. There will be ups and downs but I'm hopeful.
Well one thing is for certain, this team will more than likely be the best shooting team in the SEC. This entire team can knock it down, they might come out and blow people out of the gym. Look at how popes teams play, they have Kerr Krissa, Kobe brea, Collin Chandler, Travis Perry, Trent Noah, Andrew Carr, Ansley Alonor, who can all shoot lights out, and Lamont Butler can knock down the 3 at any time. Plus their all gonna have the greenlight, its not gonna be like cals teams where he controls the way his players play, Pope lets his players play the game, and shoot. Which is the way the game should be played. I think their going to be a solid basketball team, they will be a 5-6 loss squad with a sweet 16 appearance, maybe even an elite 8.
Hopefully, they do better with the Kentucky offseason grade vid than they did last year. I say that cause they went the vid and discussed the roster and the name Reed Sheppard wasnt brought up once. They didnt think he would even figure into UK's season in a meaningful way and he ended up the 3rd pick in the NBA draft!
Having the older players has been a breath of fresh air so far. The freshmen for years were ususlly smart kids, but the older guys give such better answers because they understand how things work in basketball.
Travis perry scored more high school points than Reed did in the same state. The head-to-head between reed and Travis when reed was a senior and Travis was a junior, Travis outscored reed with over 40 points. He's the best shooter on the team, it's just a matter of if he'll play nervous or not. obviously, the big stage didn't mess with Reed, we'll see if it effects Travis. I also think Collin Chandler will be one of the better offensive players.
Yeah but Reed almost had a triple double that game and yeah he scored more but Reed is and always be the better player, it’s not fair to compare Reed is also 6’3 either athleticism Travis doesn’t I like Travis but he will be a 3-4 year player and he might never play an NBA game
Never said Travis would be better but he did almost have 50 on Reeds team with 10-16 from 3 and was only a junior. These guys weren’t talking about reed last year and he was our best player. Some have Travis listed at 6-2 so not a big difference in size. Just saying don’t sleep on Travis this year. He can produce this year. Smart shooters always find a spot in the rotation.
@@dixonspressurewashingllc1005 no I understand what you’re saying and I think he can produce this year too I just don’t know how much playing time he will get, he’s great offensively shooting always translates I’m more worried about his defense and his body being strong enough, if he has Lamont Butler on him all year at practice and does well Pope will know if/when he’s ready, it doesn’t get much harder than that in college basketball, I say that about Reed because he’s always been much more than a shooter and I think the comparison might put to much pressure on Travis not that he’s reading these comments but everyone has been saying that he’s like Reed but yes I agree I think Travis has a chance at carving out a role this year really all the Freshman do because of this system I like Trent playing more than Travis year one because his shot is almost as good if not as good as Travis but he’s 6’6 with a bigger body
Don't get me wrong, having a big star to build around is great, but having a lot of great players to spread the mins around and swap two groups of 5 guys so they all stay fresh and run the crap out of the ball. These guys will be running all 40 mins and shooting the ball like crazy outside the 3 point line. The defensive side will be leaps and bounds above what we've had in a while. We just have to see how well these guys click, move the ball around and find the open shot. They killed professional players when they scrimmaged the TBT team. Let's give these guys a chance.
Also I don't think y'all have seen this team practice and run a scrimmage. The best player on this team is Williams. His passing changes things. And if that three is falling . They will blow teams out . But also I see some 15 point losses if the other team is on. Seriously neither of you are really saying anything by just playing it safe.
I mean...3rd best player mentioned at the beginning Justin Edwards. Dont get me wrong like all other UK players, going forward ill support and cheer him on. But he had maybe 3 games, 1 standout omg phenomenal game. So if he is 3, I look forward past 2023
This whole argument of "they don't have That Dude" is the dumbest cop out answer ever! That just sounds like, "I don't like them but I can't explain why". haha
So many people are sleeping on us, a lot of people are gonna have such a huge shit burger to eat by the time conference play starts and talking about defense and how it wasn’t good at byu and let’s be honest it was because he didn’t have the athletes to guard like needed to be successful, we have those players now and perry is gonna give you a shit burger to eat too
TRENT Noah and TRAVIS Perry, come on guys it’s not that hard to do research of a teams recruiting class, especially since we only have 2 commits. They’ll be vital roles to this team next year, maybe even this year mark my words.
Elite 5 stars aren’t what they used to be. And they cost millions to land. Better to buy 3-4 dudes who are experienced power 5 players. Will go much further. I think the recent NCAA tournaments have proven this change in the guard quite well.
Kentuckys team has the 2nd most tournament minutes of any other team. I think a team of seniors will learn gel faster having experience and 4 years in NCAA
How can you not even know the names of the players on the roster and act like you're doing your job? The lack of work that goes into this garbage is sad.
All it takes is one guy to get hot at the 3, that's how UK lost in the tournament last year, we have a whole team of guys that can get hot. By the end of the next season, I'll bet we have more 3point attempts than any team in history and if our percentage is as good as these guys had last year, we will destroy teams.
Only thing that should be discussed is why did BYU super upgrade at coach? Why didn’t Kentucky get the BYU guy? Kentucky is screwed and meaningless going forward.
Dude no BYU fan should ever talk about Kentucky, 1 year in the big 12 where they had success with face it not so good players and an NBA assistant who has never done anything and the blue bloods? Boy sit down Igor and Richie are the only above average players Igor maybe great but it ain’t enough Catchings is not going to be good year 1. Please go look at Kevin Young head coaching record then talk. This Kentucky team probably isn’t a national championship contender but they took BYU best player and upgraded at every position with an offensive system that is proven. Talk about Mark Pope all you want but reality is that BYU was a forgotten school before pope, before him they were the school Jimmer went to that nobody heard of or knew where they were located. Pope got the highest rated recruit in BYU history and it was before they were in the big 12, just be real and say you don’t like him because he left. Nobody in Utah can say anything about Kentucky basketball really shouldn’t be talking about basketball at all until you have actually done something
Y'all are really shooting this team short. One win in the tournament isn't the goal. Final 4 is the goal. Probably not realistic but y'all are wrong about perry and Chandler. They're gonna be ready. Font be surprised if this team gets early wins and shoots up into the top 5.

Robinson, Brea, Carr, and Oweah will all score double figures this year. Butler will be close with 9 ppg.
