This 500-year-old city is one of the oldest in the “New World,” and is the easterly most city in North America. Its roughly 100,000 residents enjoy a mix of big-city luxury and small-town charm. The town is quite walkable and drivable, with lots of great shopping, restaurants, historical sites and more. ❤️👌👍
Not really ST John was founded in the early 1600’s as a city. A lot of people get it mixed up thinking it was in 1497 but it wasn’t established as a city. Now the oldest cities in the new world (before columbina times) are ST Louis Missouri AKA (Cahokia) which was founded around 600 CE during the late woodland period, Also Mexico City (Tenochtitlán) which was founded which was founded in 1325 and Mexico City in 1521. Now the oldest columbina cities are in the south of Florida which were officially founded and cities in the late 1490s/1500s Now the oldest city in Canada is Quebec City circa 1608 making it Canada’s oldest city
St. John's has one of the highest concentrations of writers, musicians, actors, and comedians in the country - although we have been known to loan them out to the rest of Canada! 👍😊
Great video. Well done. I lived in St.John's during much of the 90's for university and still get back for the occasional long weekend visit whenever I can. Love that city.
St. John's is very cool, my cousins used to live there talking about fun! Signal Hill was so cool! Have a wonderful weekend my friend and Keep Spinning and Winning....Cheers
One of the best aspects of your channel is that you have got a great rhythm to what you are doing..it makes sense, you keep on going, and people are delighted when they see a place that is relevant or important to them....Kind of like Romper Room when she would say "And I see...(name of person)" but in your case, you shine a spotlight on a different PLACE and raise it up! As in "I see St. Johns, Canada...." :) !!
Hahaha! I love your comment! I remember Romper Room! Thank you for your encouraging words! And thank you for watching and supporting the channel! Much appreciated!
now coming or going anywhere as a tourist you will love and like even the Caves...what are average salaries in there ? How much cost a two bedroom flat? is it the food expensive ?
*When stationed at the old u.s./CANUC Naval facility in Argentia in 1973, we'd drive up to the university on a Sunday night and score the best blonde lebanese hash on the planet, fresh off the boat, $25 for a quarter ounce. True story.*
What about the living cost, dude! The employment rate, the schools, the weather specific conditions of this City?! For a title like this, I was hoping I'd find all these realistic and crucial parameters now that I finally received my ITA through the Extress Entry program and trying to make my decision about the place where I'd settle with my wife in Canada. Tourism sites are cool to know but that's not what builds people's mind about a given city.
Hi My father went to Hamilton College. Maybe if Ceasar had had a castrated man court Cleopatra, she would have remained in Rome, and Spain would have remained calm in the 1400s. Croton, You better do right. Hello Buffalo NY What happened? Hi Susan.

My grandpa was from St. John's, NF. He left there at 14 years old for Boston. He told me he didn't want to work as a fisherman for the rest of his life. And he didn't like living under British rule.
@@leonardsheatravelThank you, I like your channel. Yes, my grandfather lived in Boston for the rest of his life. He died at 91 years of age. He tried to enlist into the US army when the US got into WW1, in 1917 but he was rejected for some reason. Maybe because he wasn't a US citizen yet, or maybe because they thought that he was too old, at 31 years old? So he went back to St. Johns and enlisted into the Canadian army and fought in Europe in combat for the remaining year and a half of WW1. After the war he returned to Boston, met my grandmother, had 3 children, the first of whom was my mother, and I was his first grandchild. I had a wonderful relationship with him. Wouldn’t say maritime music, more like Newife music. Most popular “maritime” songs are Newife songs and Newfoundland music is its own genre anyway
Btw cape spear lighthouse isn’t in st Johns it’s in cape spear and quidi vidi is pronounced like qidi vide
Why are you calling it new Finland?

Only really because of the economy, if you can get past that this is one of the best places in Canada. Top 3 even with the bad economy
