When referring to Healthcare cost. Let's run a thought experiment. Years ago Dr visits could be payed out of pocket or even bartered. Then insurance companies starting forcing Dr to only take insurance coverage. Once insurance companies locked it down. They raised rates so high that people couldn't afford insurance. Then government stepped in and said they would help people pay for insurance by paying for insurance(Obamacare). Then dictate how much Dr can charge. Insurance companies were already charging way to much. Now government says they'll pay. An of corse insurance companies hear that, so they raise prices even more. While paying less for Dr services. So the 2 things that were supposed to "help" with Healthcare, insurance and government. Actually made it so bad that we have the Healthcare debacle we have today. Socialized medicine never works.
Well, all countries need a revolution in thinking. Everyone has been looking to government, but, if you are a relatively mature person you have to admit that government makes everything more expensive. Price competitoin always brings prices down. The problem is that the person seeking the service is not paying for it. Mainly we have not healthcare price transparency. There are plenty of issues which are either out and out elective or which are not at an emergency level. For instance, my husband and I could not find out what our C-scopes would cost without insurance. There was no established price. We could have schedule that procedures any time within a 12 months period. But, there was not way to "shop" for a good price. The system absolutely blocked that. Price competition makes sense in health care, it is just that people have developed a habit of leaning too much on government. In those areas where price competition has been allowed medical care prices have gone down: Lasik eye surgery is an example.

Hiking - the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. My county south of Asheville has over 200 waterfalls. Autumn is the most beautiful time but all year is nice.
As a Canadian and somebody who has studied the numbers carefully especially back in the day, before Obamacare a Canadian family of four actually paid $2,000 a year more for healthcare than an American family of four and we had pretty serious wait times even back then
What is more important than health? Profit is so much more important. Just when a doctor finds the best treatment for their patient, the health insurance company finds a way to deny it.
The size is interesting as well considering how much of the land in the top 3 is actually populated. The US is 47% uninhabited land, compared to Canada’s uninhabited land at 80%, and Russia’s at about 77%. It’s interesting how, even though there’s so much space, the majority of people tend to flock to a few highly populated areas with others being sparsely populated due to disinterest or it being straight up uninhabitable (deserts, swamps, national parks, arctic areas, etc).
Yes you didn't grow up in the U.S but you must have friends or relatives or you yourselves must have driven or flown from state to state or North - South ... East - West across country and have an idea on the size of the U.S. New Hampshire has many trails mountains and you can even pick-up the Appalachian trial that runs 2000+ miles through the states in NortEast & East Coast. Plus our tallest Mountain- Mount Washington. I've driven from New Hampshire to Florida and back again a few times and it took aprox. 24hrs one way and Florida alone is a very long state that takes many hours going N to South. Ok back to the video ... thank you 😎👍
I think other countries get the wrong idea. Generally, the police are well funded, but are potentially not well supported socially sometimes and face dangers not faced in other countries. It is true that some cities want to have fewer police officers - until violent crimes rise and then it is made clear that a city needs to have more police and tools available to crack down on crime. Ditto fire control. Ditto trash control. Ditto water and sewer. Ditto road maintenance. People who complain don't come to budget meetings, they just complain. As for health care, we have expensive health care, but better health care. If people follow the rules, the poor can be covered by state health funds, backed by the federal government. However, when funded by these sources it requires a lot of complicated paperwork. Perhaps worse, regular private insurance controls what health care is covered by that provider. Insurance by private provider isn't cheap, but generally covers approximately 80% of costs. When one reaches retirement age the government covers 80% and a private provider (generally covering the rest for free) makes health care manageable, but again the paperwork starts to get annoying. We have gross inefficiencies like every country, but our taxes tend to be lower than countries with socialized medicine and at higher quality. Some Americans opt out of "required" health care providers. The taxes charge you a penalty to minimally cover you. Most Americans want to have the government pay for healthcare but don't want to pay for it themselves. They don't realize that countries with socialized medicine either have bad quality systems or charge higher taxes to cover it. It's not free and you get what you pay for.
The crime rate is down dramatically in the US, compared to one, two and three decades ago. However, corporate crime, which dwarfs retail/street crime, has gone parabolic.

one thing you gotta remember is China and India have like 1.5 billion people in thier population to our 340 million, so their military and police personnel are larger than ours, their % is smaller than ours.
You know, I myself often wonder why people that watch the channel on RUclips don't watch the intro. I enjoy watching 2 alphas, in your case, a male and female, discuss the upcoming video and everything else you guys say about it in the outro.
The economies of NYC, Los Angeles and Chicago are BY FAR the biggest in the US. All are Top 10 in the world. There's no city in TX that comes close to any of these three.
One possible reason for India and China having so many more police personnel is both of those countries have about four times as many citizens than the U.S. has.
Regarding the economic piece of this video, here is info you might find interesting-this from the non-partisan Brookings Institute- Last year, 2024 Brookings calculations show that Donald Trump’s winning base in 2,633 counties represents 86% of the nation’s total counties but just 38% of the nation’s GDP. Conversely Kamala Harris’ losing base of 427 much higher output counties represents 62% of the GDP. Make of that data what you will.
🇺🇸 APPALACHIAN TRAIL that goes from top of Maine down to Florida. It's a hike, but one of best in the USA. Plenty of unique places on path to stop and see. 🇺🇸
California has a huge economy, a huge tax system and an inept Governor who cannot account for $20 billion, a insolvent unemployment system and cities burning while the greatest part of immigration to the state is illegal or low income so there is a diminishing tax base. Need a better Government here.
Since we lead in R and D at 95% of the worlds medical advancements. The American people pay for those costs. Simply because government funded healthcare won’t pay for the drugs at our prices in America. Because they couldn’t afford it and the “free” healthcare systems around the world would collapse.
One thing to note about the US is that if you're an American living abroad you still have to pay tax to the US gov. How many countries force you to do that?
Depends on the country. Most allied countries have reciprocity agreements the same way states that have income taxes do where you get a tax credit for taxes paid to the place you earned that income. What this means is you ultimately just pay the higher tax rate between the place you earned the income and where you are a citizen/resident, but you're not going to be double taxed.
it’s sad how bad the healthcare systems are all over the world. I think every natural born citizen deserves decent health care no matter where they live. And my geography is terrible as well, I’ve been to Canada, Vancouver Island, it was awesome, but I don’t expect you guys to know all about the United States if you weren’t born here, maybe my education suffered because as I said I know next to nothing about Canada except that it is a beautiful country. and it’s the only other country that I don’t think I would mind living in if it was necessary.
You actually can't see accurate sizes from any type of flat map. All have their distortions. A globe gives a much better idea of relative sizes. Yeah, US health insurance is practically a scam, given the "fine print" of what is covered and what isn't and what you have to get "approvals" for. I also have a decent understanding of the costs it takes to SUCCESSFULLY bring a single new drug to market in the US. For every new drug that makes it to market, there's anywhere from one to three dozen (or more) that don't. Those costs do have to be covered somehow.
California economy is global. Hence, movie,TV industry, also weather helps..this accounts they make more un a day,Than canada makes in a year. If global recession hits.calif will be hit hard lot of countrys are poor and overpopulated and is not a plus

Los Angeles cut fire department funding $15 billion and increased police spending $125 million. You picked a terrible week to launder this right-wing lie.
Police spending is higher than ever in most major cities. It was cut modestly in a few states but that was only temporary. I suggest that you dig into the data instead of believing what right-wing media tells you. In addition to police, surveillance cameras are everywhere. And private security forces are employed by wealthy corporations. So the issue of "policing" is not limited to publicly employed police officers. We have two capitalist, right-wing political parties that represent the elite. The job of police is to protect the rich from the poor. Do you honestly believe that they'd cut police funding for any meaningful length of time, especially as the chasm between the haves and have nothings widens to levels not seen since the Gilded Age? Please think things through. Lastly, Los Angeles cut fire department spending $15 million and increased police spending $125 million. This will go down as one of the most catastrophic mistakes in California history.
Thanks!
