Of course the PLUS handicapper wins the challenge! LOL Good to see Lester win on the channel. As an "older" player, my 3,4,5 hybrids are the reason I play off 5. Cheers boys!
This is really a proper and honest, but also fun, review, Dan! Not just hitting 3 shots indoors and comparing the numbers to claim that this is the best club ever -- only to repeat the exact same "test" a week after. I'm not disliking Srixon or any other brands, but it's a good reminder to play what works best for you. Nevertheless, happy new year, guys. Look forward to a more amazing 2021! Would love to see what's in the bag of 2021.
I have just kitted out ZX7 driver, ZX5 Irons and ZX 3 wood and ZX 2 Hybrid. Absolutely love them. Never played hybrids or Srixon before and am very impressed. The 3 wood is a monster. The hybrid is also a monster. Love the sound and feel.
Another well thought out and honest review, fellas. Thanks. I love the look of my long irons but now moving into my fifties I'm beginning to struggle with generating enough club head speed so I think I'll be moving to another hybrid soon.
I have an old Cobra baffler rail h hybrid which has a similar top line with the step and it has been the most consistent club in my bag for years. I like the similar looks of the Srixon ZX. Thanks for testing gents.
I am 100% in agreement with Lester , I took my 3-4 irons out of my bag 2 years ago to put in 2 hybrids and found I just cant get a consistent strike and ball flight from them, I put my Irons back into my bag and have found I have gained back my confidence from 195-210. Granted the irons have a lower ball flight but mentally I feel way more comfortable over those shots.
I am a hybrid player. I currently have three in the bag, so I would definitely consider this club. The ridge in the crown would not prevent me from trying these clubs. I play Pings now with the turbulators, so this if anything is more subtle. The only issue I have with Srixon is the difficultly finding them to demo in the US. For some reason they are not as readily available as other major brands. Cleveland seems to be the dominate brand here in the US for Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO line up.
Good to hear you say the sole looked on the cheap side Dan. I've thought that about the new Srixons but didn't think anyone agreed. I think it's the red gloss paint.
I think Lester’s shot is the whole point of a hybrid. If he had hit his 4 iron it would have been short and right. A hybrid has the forgiveness that us part timers need due to the variance of our swing. Lester reminds me of the old bloke at the club who still thinks he must hit blades with a stiff shaft and fails to hit it any where and blames the lie, ball, wind etc😀
Not sure if anyone cares but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new series on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my brother for the last days xD
Enjoy the three of you testing. Please can you have Lester testing a hybrid on the course once a month. I think It is fair to say Lester does not want to be seen on any golf course with a hybrid in his hands! So funny. I Play hybrids instead of long irons including off the tee.
I completely agree with Dan on the looks point of view. Looked like a budget club in my personal opinion. BUT. what a performance especially in the hands of lester. Credit to Srixon for clearly producing a great perfoming club.
I’ve got an old 19 degree taylormade rescue some time ago I did buy a new 19 degree sim rescue but I’ve found I don’t hit it as consistent as the old one the face is a lot smaller on the sim so I still use my old rescue so I may look at something else lol
Im similar to Lester with regards to teeing the ball up and overall not keen on hybrids but i have found one in the g410. But im looking for a utility iron to fit between driver and hybrid mainly for versatility
I feel this shows why buying clubs for most of us is so misleading. Lester’s numbers were so good inside, yet he couldn’t do much with it on the course. No place here would ever let me try a club on the course without buying it. Very frustrating! Agree that Lester needs to be the official hybrid reviewer as he’s not a fan of them 👍🏻
I'm not a fan of hybrids and fairway woods for that matter, however when I do have one in the bag it is an older Adams. I like the "speed slots" as I feel like it helps frame the ball and alignment. I have been intrigued to look at the new Srixon/Cleveland offerings
Funny,. I haven't hit a hybrid yet. I am very looking forward to the getting and playing ZX irons and ZX5 Driver. This is also the first test I have seen of the hybrid. I may dabble with them as the year progresses. BTW, Would Lee be more comfortable with a different shaft?
Put that hybrid back on the new club shelf with a note... Sweetspot rarely used 😁 Looks, really nice and I have used srixon clubs in the past and rate them highly. I think Paul would like it... It is a nice shape imo.
Good review. TBH I get a little lost as to which clubs I should carry. My TM 4 hybrid (22 degree) gets about the same numbers in carry distance (200-210) that you are seeing with this Srixon. I have a TM 3 wood that I get about 245 with but nothing in between the two to close that gap. Is this the type of club I should be trying ?
Good honest review and opinions, which is what we all want. With that said, everyone has an opinion, especially when it comes to golf equipment and golf swings. Always use what works best for you, damn everyone else. Cheers and Happy New Year.🎊🎆🎈
Hi Dan. Which 5 wood do you have ? I’ve seen it’s a very solid club for you from other videos. I think I’d go down the 5 wood route over hybrid personally. Enjoyed the review gents.
Golf 2 callaway xr os 16 hybrid 19degree 22degree great clubs can take yardage off hit it high low i love them and wont be changing them another good video like the on course testimg would like to see a callaway mavrik 3 wood review 👍
I agree with Lester completely. When he stands over the ball and the little voice inside is saying "won't, won't won't he can't be comfortable swinging it. He has a good swing and likes his irons. When he gets older he might realize and fondness for more club head. :-)
There are only 2 hybrids I like and consider playing: Titleist 818 or TS and the Callaway Apex. I can adjust the lie angles to fit my swing and they fly and sound amazing.
Big fan of the channel, but not sure you got this test right, two players that don't hit hybrids and one that hits big balls but can be directionally inept(😳) Personally I've always hit hybrids because my swing speed wouldn't launch a 4 iron off the deck, all modern clubs are decent, it's fine margins and personal preference/budget that puts clubs in bags. I'm in the process of putting 10 to 15 year old clubs back in my bag from the back of the garage, McGregor Vfoil forged irons, WilsonStaff 19.5 and 24 degree fybrids, Wilson TW9 56 degree Wedge and Cobra Fspeed driver just to see how much difference it makes to my score 🤔
Not long put a ping 6hybrid in bag so easy to hit I do have a zx7 driver which unfortunately on first use dropped directly onto lipstick on back which resulted in a great chunk falling off.
@@DanHendriksenGolf I got myself a launcher turbo driver earlier this year and it has got my confidence back with the driver after a few years hitting it off the planet 🌏 love it and cheap 👍
I am not a big fan of hybrids, but I thought the Srixon was a nice looking club. Obviously it performed very well, and for the money would be hard to beat.
I think there are better hybrids on the market, but its always good to be objective and test things, I have always loved Callaway woods, find them fab!!
I have loved the recent Srixon clubs, purchased the ZF 585 3 wood but agree with Dan, this looks a little cheap on the bottom. Love the look from the top.
Hi Dan so the colouring is not to your liking eh. Then rewind to November 20 and see your comments on the Srixon ZX 7 where there's a change of opinion. Still love your shows. lol Pete
Thanks good fun review. Suspect these “hybrids” need a descending blow . Off that squelchy ground would soon ruin the face , not to mention the top edge, of that nice new club. Lester just couldn’t do it . No problem off a mat indoors , kudos to him for mechanical / aesthetic sympathy.
I find this a little bit fascinating, I remember when they first came out. I seem to remember they supposed to be easier to hit than long irons, especially out of the rough. Most of the people I knew who tried them found them to be hooking machines. There then developed a weird sort of well I have bought it & the logic of it is right so persevere. They dropped off the radar a bit & 7 or small headed 5 woods took over. Having said that after coming back to the game after a good few years away, I now use 2 hybrids one of which I swap out now and again for the 2 iron. I changed my swing a bit when I came back (ongoing) & can hit them really well, can adjust trajectory fairly easily. I find them really useful
@@DanHendriksenGolf I have seen the video, I think your theory may hold water. There is definitely something about the club that is different. Everyone I played with when they came out played with a strong draw. Not one of the guys could play them without hooking them. When I came back to golf the 3 iron had almost disappeared, so I tried a few hybrids & same problem of hooking until I tried the one I currently use which had a slight draw. After starting to overhaul my swing it became more upright & I was moving to fade/straight/cut, from that point I started really hitting the hybrid properly. Height increased, distance & control, now it is a trusted club.
Im with Lester I don't use hybrids. With an iron I get out what I put in, with a hybrid it's a lottery for me. I have a tendency to miss high toe, irons can save me, hybrids that's a sideways sky. I have a Srixon driver and think Srixon are a good value brand.

I’m in Lester’s camp. Can’t stand hybrids. Give me a 2/3 iron over them. Plus I have a feel with Lee if it isn’t stamped with a Callaway logo he wouldn’t be a fan. 😂
Lester shouldn’t test hybrids. Doesn’t like them and looks like he’s given up on it before the club goes back an inch.. Hard balance to strike I think. Testing / reviewing a club when it’s wet, freezing and you all have lots of layers on is not really doing it justice IMO. On course reviews are great but in those conditions I’d rather have seen the shots you hit on Quad and revisit when conditions allow. 👍🏻
Inside. Golf shirt. Warm. Outside cold. Lots of cloths. Gee wonder which results will be better. Duh. Why bother hitting them outside in the winter?????
Love hybrids, but not the semi-wood variety. That head just looks too big. If I want a semi-wood, I'll dig my old 1997 Big Bertha 7, 9 and 11 woods out of the back of the closet.
This test just proves that golf club technology is completely over ridden by the golfer. Same club, but three entirely different ball flights, produced by better than average players all down to strike. Agree, it looks cheap.
Of course the PLUS handicapper wins the challenge! LOL Good to see Lester win on the channel. As an "older" player, my 3,4,5 hybrids are the reason I play off 5. Cheers boys!
I have an old MacGregor 7wood i absolutely love, that's stayed in the bag whilst all the other clubs have come and gone.
WOW I needed this info I cannot fade or slice a hybrid, but I will try the heel this weekend THX!

Bernie does not like “Hrybids”? This also highlights the difference between hitting on a simulator and in the real world. Interesting test.

I like the way you do your reviews, my mate has a full set of hydrid's the brand is eleven I think you should try a round with those.
Can someone explain to Lester the point of a hybrid is to make the bad shots better than a bad shot with an iron!
Good review. I just can’t hit hybrids. I have u510 22 “. Rocket ship, feels amazing

I think Lester should be the hybrid tester. I think he'll learn to love the club for its flexibility.
Interested as I’m in the market for a 19 degree to gap my 3 wood to my 22 degree Cleveland 4 hybrid......would test it happily and see how it feels.

The dynamic trio!
Would like to know what Lester has in his bag. Looks like he has a real mixed bag?
We will do a what’s in the bag for 2021 👍
What hybrid is this .. deg . Also is it adjustable ...and what shaft does it have ... important info lady out

Dan did say 3 hybrid, 19 degree loft.
