THANK YOU Hank Lewerissa for sharing your knowledge with so much love with the children, AND THANK YOU, Dami Im for introducing Hank and his marvelous work to us !!!!
In addition to all the positive comments about Hank Lewerissa, is anyone going to address the elephant in the room re: the outcome of this year's Aria Music Teacher's Award!? To overlook Hank Lewerissa, who has dedicated his entire working life of 41 years teaching, mentoring and inspiring thousands of diverse primary school students, according to the staggering number of comments I've read on social media, was a gross injustice! Hank has been called a legend, a local hero and won numerous awards inc. an Australia Day Award for services to Education in 2000, a Gold Coast Honourable Silver Award for Education, the Showcase of Excellence Award in 2000 and a Dept. of Education Award for 40 years of service. His music program, through fund raising events over the years, has raised approximately half a million dollars for his schools! The Aria Music Teacher's Award was set up to reward teachers for their 'hard work', 'creativity' and 'dedication' to their students and the wider community. Hank Lewerissa has delivered well over and above and deserved this award. Kudos to you mate! You're in a league of your own!
I'm so glad something has been said re: the gross injustice done here. As a member in his community I have witnessed the sacrifice he and his family have made ie. getting their babies up at 4/5 am in the morning on weekends to fund raise to better the lives of 3 generations of school children. Half a million dollars is a jaw dropping amount of $. To say I was shocked at the outcome is an understatement! Word is that the winner is only a 'part-timer' 😖 (10 years..) and has never won a professional/education award in her life! How!??...how could the Aria judges allow this. Talk to anyone in education and they will say she didn't belong there in the first place. The Arias got it so, so WRONG!!!
This teacher was the light to my school days he has taught me since I was in prep and I am now in grade 7, he was my choir teacher for 6 years and I miss him so much I have left the school to better myself in highschool, I still have all of my ribbons from choir and I loved every moment of the practices and especially insteadfords he helped me grow my life and he will always be the biggest part of it for me, he is the best teacher I could every ask for I hope he goes forth as one of the best teachers in history much love to you mr lewerissa and hope to see you again one day in the future!
Hank is an absolutely incredible person and an inspiration to be around. He’s the reason I got into music, way back in the 2000s at Labrador, and one of the few teachers that was willing to take the time to pay attention to every single student. It’s been 20 years, but I still think about the work that went into our Eisteddfods and I keep my choir medals on my vanity to remind me of my absolute favourite teacher. If you ever get a chance to see this Mr Lewerissa, thank you for all you do ❤

I never comment on anything on social media or RUclips etc but this bloke is an 11/10 in his role and deserves any merit and credit going his way.
Oh I love this! ❤ Congratulations Hank 🎉👏
He the most kindest teacher ever
