      Grappling is apart of the UFC so if their fan base doesn’t want to grapple and want stand and bang most of the time, that is a problem they need to fix. EA obviously doesn’t take notes because EA MMA had a “feel” mechanic for its grappling and clinch system. It wasn’t as good as undisputed but way better than what we have now. Every aspect of MMA in this game feels like a wish wash of poorly put together systems. The clinch and ground system being left in the dust as they change the striking every one or two games.

      @@ClaimerUncutEven if the fighter you're using is an advanced wrestler or BJJ artist and your opponent is much better at being on his feet, the game still makes it a chore. Stamina drains to quickly for the player whether they be the aggressor or the defender and the transitions are blocked very often.
      The clinching is disastrous. Why is the clinch SO easy to escape?? If the clinch was so easy to escape in real life who the hell would use it? The fact you can't escape the clinch at all when in an arm lock and waiting to be kicked in the face or torso and cannot escape is very lame. I hate EA UFC so much for this. The ground game isn't always exciting but it can be very suspenseful in a real MMA fight. I love watching GSP at work in the ground and I usually am imnot entertained by the ground game in the real fights. But EA UFC make the ground game look like one of the most boring things on the planet.

    Fun fact: If you get someone out of stamina in a rear naked choke you can get 2 subs in a row. You get the rear naked then you will be put to top mount where you can immediately transition to an armbar without your opponents stamina regening and you can get a free sub. You can race the second sub sometimes but most of the time you will get the sub. Sounds balanced to me dawg

    I can tell you right now. Side control is like a fatality in this game 😂, if someone hood gets you there it’s cooked no matter who they use (as you saw in the Pereira clip). On Twitter a guy went for 200 bails , aka the pull guard mechanic, and by round 5 still had over 50% of his stam. The ground game is simply a race of who can get side control or an armbar submission first.
    Interesting point made with the weight distribution thru the haptic feedback, I’d watch a whole video on that alone. But good good video overall 👍🏾

    • @nunyabizwacks6711
      @nunyabizwacks6711 8 месяцев назад

      i promise no one is holding me in side control with Pereira unless im using an equally as shitty or worse grappler, which theres few of lmao. Naz just isnt a high level grappler...but ppl are watching these guys and since they are such high level strikers and high ranked, ppl just assume they are also top level grapplers. Yes, Romero for example, is a high level grappler. Dudes like Naz and Pryoxis are not. Grappling is one of those things that once u get the mechanics down, you gotta get down into the weeds yourself and start trying things and being creative. Its not like the striking where you can watch a guy like Naz, then imitate. If you try to imitate his grappling the same way, your gonna fail against high level grapplers, just like he does many times. I have so many problems with the grappling in this game and every other part of the game actually...but one thing i gotta say, the grappling actually allows you to be more creative and have a style than the striking does. But most ppl are failing at it because they are imitating these guys trying to do 20 rabbit punches for GA then thinking it gives them a free transition. So id tell ppl, once u get a good grasp and ur at the point where u know animations and generally know what your supposed to do to deny most things, thats when you start needing to use ur own brain, trial and error, be creative and play chess, think of diff ways to trick your opponent....and most importantly....be patient when your on bottom on the ground. Espscially in positions like full and half guard. You dont have to do somethibg asap....dont be afraid to sit there and wait for your opponent to make a move....and dont be afraid of eating postured down rabbit punches..they do no damage and hurt your opponents own stamina more than they damage you. Dont play that silly game of trading a million rabbit punches like all these guys try to do. Let them waste their stamina....and dont make getting up your priority. Make your priority deny what they do and avoiding ACTUAL damaging situations and strikes. Many times if tbey are grapple heavy and they play this game and u stay generally safe on the ground and minimize the damage as much as possible and they repeatedly go this route round after round, you'll start finding yourself with a max stamina advantage later in the fight and suddenly you have the upper hand on the feet and on the ground. And now you have the muscle transitions if you need them to get out of side control and shit. So be patient, dont freak out, dont force anything, and dont care to do nothing. As long as your opponent isnt in some postured up position, you are 100% fine. The only times this is super hard is when you have fighters with a big discrepency in grapple stats...think Usman vs Wonderboy or some shit. And its still possible then too and overall its not gonna be that common. Although i would suggest that when you know ur gonna face a SUPER dagestani rat ass wrestler, atleast pick someone with good bottom control. If you like kickboxing and being flashy and ur worried about it, there are a few fighters you can use that many ppl dont think about. For example, Anthony Pettis is a really fun striker, but you can actually use him against a guy like Khabib, because hes excellent off his back. Someone wants to Ortega sub spam your ass at featherweight? Go Aldo, you'll wax his ass on the feet and off your back. Just a few thoughts.

They will accept anything and they admire mediocrity, no matter what you put in their plate, they will buy it without questioning. these people are the reason why companies dont put any effort and dont even bother improving the games anymore. Those arent real fans, they are just casuals who probably play whatevers on the trends, mostly those arcade fighters like SF, Tekken, MK etc. cause a true long time sports fan would want the game to be better and closest to the reality. 100%....Naz might have some good tips but that doesnt change the fact hes the scummiest fighter that has a following. And im not talking about shilling for the game like Martial...but as far as being toxic goes....def not a good look for a guy trying to do a content channel. Theres the cheating shit, the toxic gameplay such as fake glove touching, NEVER picks a fighter that isnt meta or OP in whatever it is....like zero variety in who he plays with, BORING. You know how we have all been bitching about the striking meta in this game? The massive braindead punching no regard for stamina type shit? Naz is the absolute epitome of that. Its Conor every fight, meta style or bust. When he loses its never his fault, its always a "bug" or something...list goes on.
      Also when talking about the ground game, i agree it needs changes big time but honestly Naz isnt the best example for it, hes average on the ground. Thats something ive actually noticed about alot of these high level striking content guys, there ground game isnt as good as you'd expect. Ground game is shit in this game and of course id have a hard fight striking with them but i can 100% outgrapple dudes like Naz, Pryoxis, etc, so i def have a good understanding of the problems on the ground and how they could be made better. I agree with several of the things you said. One simple tip i can give ppl that do this alot prolly cuz they see these dudes like Naz and Pry etc doing it is....stop throwing so many rabbit punches on the ground trying to get grapple advantage. They do no damage and waste your stamina and it adds up in a longer fight. It can help in certain situations but dudes like Naz think you should just be able to throw 100 rabbit punches then you get an automatic transition and thats just not how it works, especially if your opponents stamina is basically full, ill just watch u throw those rabbit punches and wait on u to try that transition and deny it easily. Rabbit punches need to be used in a more fluid way and as a mind game combined with the grapple advantage, to surprise and throw your opponent off. Just sittin on ur back and throwing 15 then straight out trying a getup transition aint gonna work against a good grappler. Im always surprised when im watching these guys how often they just flat out go for transitions with no fakes, faking diff directions, etc. You gotta get way more in depth with good grapplers. For example....rabbit punch fake down get up, repeat, rabbit punch fake right get up, rabbit punch fake left get up, then actual left get up. Thats just an example. Then you throw maybe 2 rabbit punches a bunch. Then next time u throw one theb do the transition. The punches have to be used as an aid to ur transitions, to condition your opponents, which is what this game is about big time, conditioning. Punches for GA arent a get up free card. I know thats a long rant but i see it all the time and just pointing out that as flawed as the ground system is, you cant just be trying to do this then crying about it. Sure, getting held in side control for example can def still be a problem, but at same time when someone is not approaching it the 100% best way then that cant be the example for why its trash. I get held in side control very occasionally, usually when i have a shit bottom control fighter and they have a good top control guy, but i dont get held in it near as much as most ppl i see. Im in no way siding with this garbage game, but i promise getting out of side control and other positions isnt as bad as most ppl make it out to be. That said, it can still be cheesy with the right player and fighter.

    theres also tons of problems with striking... it is clunky and some animations are broken. sometimes, knockouts feel so awkward like you get hit by a car crash. dropped bodies lay on the ground unrealistically like their necks or limbs snapped. also if your playing against CPU, the AI dodges your punches and kicks like Matrix on higher difficulties, even if you caught them good and theres no realistic way that they could escape from them. probably reading your inputs like the arcade Mortal Kombat games back in the day

    I like the haptic feed back idea, and utilizing both sticks to control posture and positioning. I'd say the only feed back is maybe utilizing L1 or L2 to trigger switching to a sub attempt , as that's a conscious decision that you make while grappling.

    On the money again! Tbh maybe the ground doesn’t need an entire rework if some of the more obvious issues were addressed. Something i brought up forever ago was that the transition animation should move in conjunction to the meter filling so the fighters movements would sync up and not just be a slight nudge in one direction or the other. Another thing I’ve been adamant about is to reveal either in game or in practice the actual denial windows. My guess is those would tell the story alot better than guessing how much time you actually have to respond. Long and short grappling as well as everything in the game is another mini game devoid of realism or even basic logic, navigating a nebulous space of confusion the player is suppose to guess their way through.

    I’m fairly new to the game and man o man, it is beyond frustrating to play online.
    There has to be some sort of glitch or input delay after you press a button.
    Denying transitions are dam near impossible due to laggy connections.
    And idk how many times I’ve gotten stopped due to a cut or submitted.
    This game has a ton of potential, but the spammers and sub cheesers ruin it for me.

      Denying transitions due to lag is a game killa! Everything depends on the right deny, and it typically favours the person on TOP.
      A shame not much has been changed since this video other than new aesthetics and basic bug fixes

    You nailed it with this video! I am a huge fighting game and UFC enthusiast. Definitely no stranger to learning the basics and then advance to learn the finer details. With the EA UFC games it's always the same story for me: Buy the game "day one"-ish (hoping and praying the ground game will be more intuitive this time) and then a few days later realizing: NOPE it's not. The problem lies in EA's focus to get everything that MMA has to offer (which is a lot) into the game (remember their old slogan "If it's in the game, it's in the game") and put every other aspect on the sideline. Their focus should be to make the whole package an enjoyable and intuitive affair while also trying to get as much as possible into the game. But the determining factor should always be "Is it fun to play?"
    And let's be honest here: while the standup game is enjoyable, it's far from intuitive. A fighting game where throwing of a BASIC punch requires the simultaneous press of 3 buttons (e.g. body hook / body uppercut ...don't know if there are also signature variations of these. Then it will be 4 buttons) is impossible to be played intuitively. Especially if you try to make these "basic strikes" part of your combo.
    Adding to these problem is the inconsistency of the controls. With a complicated game like this you need to stick to your route so everything makes sense. Not with UFC 5. There are commands that make absolutely no sense when looking at the overall control scheme. It's almost like "Oh, we forgot to implement this move and that move. Unfortunately we are out of available buttons for this scenario. Let's just borrow the free buttons we still have from that other scenario ..."
    Your idea with the haptic feedback sounds really interesting and while I know that many don't like it, I would really be interested in "total punch control" via stick-motion (just like the Fight Night games). One stick that just needs to be moved in a total intuitive way (mimicking the movement in real life) to cover almost every basic strike. Going from there, it wouldn't be a problem to add a body modificator button or a signature button.

    EA basically used hepatic feedback for grappling in EA MMA. It was a little to simple but it wouldn't be hard to make it more advanced. So basically, they have the foundations and resources to do it, but EA doesn't like actually listen to fan feedback to this extent so I doubt it ever happens even though they can do it.

    I’ve always felt like the ground and clinch should be slowed down. Transitions happen way too often and without much stamina cost. Most times when a fight goes to the ground fighters aren’t moving around like crazy, they’re taking their time setting things up. I’d prefer a chess match style approach where we really have to think about what we can do and have time to do it. Unless there’s a huge stamina difference, a fighter shouldn’t be able to go from full guard to mount with minimal effort (or the opponent has zero ground attributes). Add more ground positions and make transitions more taxing. Implement both sticks for the ground like you said and they could really make something special

    How come nobody in the dev team asked the question: where is the fun in a Struggle Mechanic? It's an honest question. Pressing a button that drains someone's stamina from doing nothing? Game is unintuitive trash (on the ground) and like you say, has very little ways to get back up to your feet from the bottom, vs the amount of aggression that the fighter on top has. It is disproportionate. Have they put all this in the game to give the crotch-sniffing babies a way-path to victory? or are they just incompetent?

    Before I even watch the video, here's my list of problems with the ground system, along with how I think they should be fixed
    -remove the posture timer. It sucks and is unrealistic, players should be in control on both sides. Top players should be able to stay up and bottom fighters should be able to try pulling them back down
    -catching a ground strike should never automatically cause a sweep. They should make it so you can auto pull down an opponent with a perfect timed block, and give an input to sweep on catching. The input should be blockable though
    -the submission health bar should be done away with, they should just add more phases than one through the submission system. You know, make you transition through the whole submission, with less transitions needed for a higher star rated submission set... also give us back removed submissions, wtf.
    -Add missing positions and strikes. Let us elbow more, let us shrimp to the cage and go to seated cage position, let us throw hammer fist and power knees from side and backside control. And make entry to striking a knockdown opponent more seemless, why do I keep dropping people and waiting for them to finish a "fall down " animation? I can't keep swinging as they fall, and I have a second after they fall before it even let's me engage. Then again, responsiveness as a whole in these games is abysmal. You spend more time waiting for your inputs to go through (IF they even go through) than you do actually putting in inputs. It forces me to watch my fighter more than I'm watching my opponent, just to be sure my input goes through, it also makes head movement a complete guessing game.

    • @dillonconners586
      @dillonconners586 9 месяцев назад

      Transitions are way harder than denying, and that is imbalance. The goal is almost always to deny until they are completely drained, then do what you want... but if you're in bottom side control, good luck. I think simplifying the ground game can be good, for inexperienced players who don't know how to deny it is a nightmare the minute you don't have prompts. For those who know all the animations and how and when to deny, it is overpowered, you'll be dominated from side control or submitted.. or both. They flip side is that posturing up and striking from any other position is too risky to even try, one slip or caught hook is enough to completely sweep you and put you on bottom, and there is nothing you can do to stop it other than never striking from those positions.

I had like 1.2k hours on ufc 4 and about 50 something hours on ufc 5 and I can say without a doubt the grappling issues aren’t a matter of “get better lol” but it’s genuinely a matter of broken game mechanics that only reward the person being offensive. Just learn to spam clinch, spam block break, spam takedowns, spam submissions and boom you’re better than 90% of the player base already. UFC 5 is a game geared towards people who just want to mash buttons rather than fight a strategic fight. There are no consequences for fighting wild or for being too aggressive early on especially when your stamina barely drains compared to your opponent when grappling offensively

    You asked what my opinion is and honestly some of the stuff people are complaining about are pretty dumb. Side control needs to be fixed if youre a striker denying everything, but if you get stuck on the ground with a judoka/ wrestler and they get you in side control in real life, youre not getting them off you unless they grabbed you exetremely tired or have a weak base to work a sweep em, which only beginners will have cause every good grappler knows stay chest and hip heavy in side control.
    Takedowns i honestly thing they need a buff to go through, the 13 times it shows he shot, its only maybe actually did 3 takedowns that follow through. you dont know how many times ive shot doubles only for them be stopped automatically because my opponent took a step backwards. Or have the footwork be so fluid that the transition for walking forward to backstepping is more responsive than the takedown buttons so its almost impossibpe setting up singles with distance fighters and doubles for pressure fighters. Then proceed to just deny any takedown i shoot because the double leg fake if he takes a step backwards makes a tell for my opponent to pick up on.
    Armbars arent as broken as some people think. You gotta time escapes when they go to attack when theyre stamina is lower vs them timing the attack when you escape. They bring back armtraps and the ability to break posture, from ufc with its clinch mechanics and itll be the best grappling. The only nroken aspect is tthe fact you get an automatic sub if they have no stamina, but thats relatively rare cause most grapplers have an endurance perk that lets em survive easier. The denial windows for strikers need to be tuned down. And they need to get rid automatic stand ups in you posture up. Theres no automatic stand ups on the mat in real life, you need to get yourself up
    For the most part if ik how to grapple using a grappler my opponent shouldnt be able to get up easier if hes a striker, nor should he be able to hold me down unless hes using absolute basic fundamentals and he has ungodly reaction speed. In real life a a pure striker will 9/10 be dominated by the pure grappler. Its just 3/4 of ufcfan base are strikers ans find grappling to be boring and lack luster, cause it takes more skills to be good at grappling than striking

    • @ClaimerUncut
      @ClaimerUncut  9 месяцев назад

      We're arguing different things, I'm stating that fundamentally the ground game does not faithfully represent real grappling since we're missing the key sense "touch".
      It's over engineered, I'm not focused on how to fix what already exists.. Im from the Undisputed 3 era where transitions and UI are far more intuitive, and this is the general Consensus from those who've played both EA and THQ games.
      The effort required to keep someone on the ground in game vs real life are not the same, we have to consider stamina detterence and weight distribution, both are missing in the game.
      Anyway you sound like someone who simply Enjoys the ground game, so I doubt we'll come to an agreement.

    • @MultiRenegade666

You think thq gunna let that go wothout a pretty penny when its irregarded as the # mma game ever made? Prob not. I think what we see in the grappling is ea wanting to keeps its own style. But like i said before hand on a previous post that mma simulation hasnt been the goal since ufc 3 where they simplified the clinch mechanics so its water down garbage. theres tons wrong with ufc 5 both striking and ground game. I don't know how many times I've slipped or dodged a strike and instantly go for a counter and it's like the game didn't get the input? some counters still don't have the damage it should as in some throws a jab and you slip it and counter with a jab of your own which should have your opponent have a pause but that's not the case they actually can continue throwing spamming whatever they do it's like there's no reward for countering or having technique it's that against spammers. and the block breaking I feel like it should be fixed alot especially those who like throw random strikes only trying to a break block should drain their stamina and make them more vulnerable and the block not being able to be broken so easily. and as for the submission and ground game it needs to be changed. the game needs to have a flow to feel free and move and stike and have ground game as you would in real life this game claims to be real as it gets but seems to be the worst as it gets cause the last time I enjoyed a ufc game was ufc 3 and that game wasn't even that huge it just was alot better than these last 2 past games

This is not truly refelctive in the game, which it should be, if your against a high-level grappler, it should be hard and annoying to get of the bottom, the problem is when you have alex peraira holding you down, also it should more of a reaction thing like older titles for takedown defense not just hold buttons lol, no clinch doesn't help either that used to be a mini game even tho not perfect would help to make the game more complex, instead of dumbing to down for casual players and trying to make a quick buck

    i agree with you on how bad the game sucks but i actually like deep and complex sports games that make it as realistic as possible. Because realistically it is hard af to be a pro athlete so having a lot of depth to controls and strategy makes it more realistic and enjoyable for me IMO. And honestly I would want a deeper ground game in the poll as well. But even though we disagree I still enjoyed your video keep up the good work.

      @ClaimerUncut  9 месяцев назад +2

      Nah we don't disagree Bro, I know when Martial says a deeper, ground game he's so accusomed to the current mechanics, he will want to merely expand on them.
      I removed one part of the video where I wanted to hit home that I want the game to be complex, just not over complex.
      Successful ESports games don't rely on over engineered controls to seperate the pros from the Casuals, I'd like to see a ground game with minimal UI, yet the ability to pull off complex submissions, where my opponent can intuitively defend based on movement and perhaps some form of (well disguised) mini game in the last stretch. Imagine jumping on UFC 5 as a new player, and seeing a flickering UI, with "getup" switching between L1 and R1.. I just think it needs refactoring from the ground up.

      @@ClaimerUncut it’s honestly insane lol I’ve spent 70 dollars for resident evil 4 deluxe edition and after playing and beating the game multiple times ive came to the conclusion that the extra money I’ve spent on the deluxe version was more than worth it, spent extra money on the deluxe edition of ufc 5 and felt robbed lol “alter egos” aka worse versions of the fighters and mike Tyson and Ali “Nate Diaz reskin” wow basically burning money oh and game of death Bruce Lee “welterweight” was completely locked and ea coming out and saying it was a bug in the game and them never fixing the issue was the cherry on top of this

    But in ufc4 the ground game and submissions sucked ass, and everyone would just stand and bang and never wrestle. when they do try to wrestle no one would, so they would just quit. in my opinion I like it, It makes so that you can choose a different playstyle and actually make it work besides just stand and bang. I can see why people don't like it though, but its hard to perfect something.

      If people don't want to take it to the ground, that's EA at fault. Undisputed 3 had an enjoyable ground game, it felt like a chess match, mainly because the controls were intuitive.

    Everything about this game is ass. Ground game is horrible denying transitions half the time doesn't work and striking feels so fucking clunky and weird. UFC 4 is so much better and thats not say much considering ufc 4 sucked as well.

    I think the truth lies somewhere in between your supposed solution and what's already here. Real grappling is based on feel and leverage mechanics. It's also very subtle hand and feet placement to advance positions.
    I personally would like to see more depth with ground positions and submissions themselves. I think EA really took a step back in that sense.

  • @zackjitsu
    @zackjitsu 9 месяцев назад

    I dont think anyone wants the grappling to stay exactly the same..it's more about making sure we get something better and not worse. (See grapple assist) Would you prefer grapple assist only to what we have now? That was EA's last answer to intuitive grappling for casuals.
    You could argue for UD3 grappling, but at a high level, that system had more gamebreaking exploits than the current system.
    Haptic feedback and using the sticks as limb controls isn't something unfamiliar to what GCs have suggested or thought of before. It sounds great, but beyond the initial concept and the selling point of it being intuitive by feel, it starts to fall apart.
    Like once you start breaking down exactly how it'd work in a specific scenario it starts becoming less intuitive and even more convoluted than what we have now.
    Perhaps you could make a video on a specific scenario with this system and how it would work mechanically?

    • @ClaimerUncut
      @ClaimerUncut  9 месяцев назад

      Fair points, and I merely offered the foundation. However respectably.. Gamechangers are not User centered designers, that's a specialist skillset you don't learn on the fly. The right people fleshing out the system will get the desired results.

    • @zackjitsu
      @zackjitsu 9 месяцев назад

      @@ClaimerUncutI think its also worth mentioning that the current system was never meant to be turn based. In fact, it isn't turn based at an incompetent level, turn based is a learned function for the best possible results. This is actually the first grappling system where you can actually exchange transitions.
      The problem is, when this system was initially created in UFC2 there was an exploit which was never properly addressed. Wherein, when 1 person transitioned, the other person could start their transition shortly after and avoid being denied due to the tail end of the animation needing to finish before the denial animation could play out, which kept the person who completed their transituon first from being able to deny. The short fix for this was to reset the grappling meter to 25% for the person who lost the transition "race". Essentially penalizing races and rewarding denials.
      I think its worth exploring restoring the system to its intended form (Without the meter reset) and changing the GnP back whilst keeping the slips and frames as defensive options.

    Yeah no sh%%,it took me UFC 1-3 to get a grasp on the ground game for the EA UFC series,that is no lie.I always had decent standup,and that was what I relied on,but if the fight ever hit the ground,and the other player was decent at the ground I was in trouble.I just had to get lucky to get back up,or usually it was a wrap.The first few games of this series,EA did a terrible job at explaining it.I actually had a friend that i played with for years that I no longer play with,because I learned the ground,and he couldn’t dominate me no more when he was losing on the feet,true story 😂😂😂😂😂😂
