Lots of great information, very balanced discussion! I love my Clifton 9s! I had researched ‘orthotic-friendly’ as I require my custom orthotics to fit into whatever I wear (e.g., arthritic knees, one leg slightly shorter, history of plantar issues, pronator), and am in my 60s. I walk daily. Just ordered a second pair. The upper will stretch very slightly over use. One shoe was a bit tight near instep due to specific right foot morphology), so wore thin socks initially, but now can accommodate cushioned socks. Another note: their GTX (waterproof) version did not work for me due to stiffer lace-up.
Altra Via Olympus 2 , are like HOKA but with normal footshape, best toebox, feels good and stable, helping the knees. I got the olympus 2 and i love them. Hokas toebox is like 74mm and Olympus 2 is 91mm. I am not runner, i walk with them, so its best to check them yourselves!
Interesting video about running shoes! Thanks for not acting like a know-it-all after finding the perfect shoe for you. I am team maximalist 🙋♀️. Three years ago I had a stress fracture that later turned into an actual fracture on my fifth metatarsal from wearing a zero drop minimalist shoe while trail running. I don’t really blame the shoe because I think it was just from overtraining and not taking the day off. But I think I had the mentality that wearing minimalist shoes made me bulletproof. I’ve been wearing maximalist shoes since. In fact, these shoes are the only reason I still run!
Thank you so much for sharing!! Really helpful to hear about different experiences. Love that the maximalist shoe is the reason you run- I feel similarly.
Heavier shoe more cushion comfortable not really heavy, equals i can go longer and not be sore,i love clifton 9,i tried more nimble shoe and i got more aches and pa8ns but i did go far for me ,but i agree with you, great video
I think barefoot was a big trend for a while and whole brands and religions got created for it but seems to have fizzled out with people getting injured by transitioning too quickly. Comfort is key imo, walking barefoot on grass is comfortable, you could probably get a heel strike comfortable barefoot running experience by getting a low drop max stack soft cushion shoe, would be like running on sand more or less. Also regular zero drop running is all about forefoot striking and getting a more springy, bouncy shock absorption, you can forefoot run in a regular cushioned shoe or even more fun in a carbon plated race shoe for very similar results and more protection.
OMG...I'm an avid walker on the treadmill and my feet started hurting. I looked up the condition (plantar facilitis) and looked up shoes , this shoe popped up. I went the next day and got them. Excited to wear them to the gym
Hello. Thank you for the video and your honesty. Wanted to see how the Clifton’s are holding up after 10 months. How would you rate the durability on a scale of 1 to 10? Would you recommend the shoe for slight under pronation? What other shoes do you use in your rotation? Thanks.
They’ve held up very well! Only thing though- I don’t run much during the winter, not sure if that would impact durability. Not sure about shoes for under pronation. These are actually the only running shoes I have right now. I’m still quite a novice runner, honestly!
Girl wait until you try a plated supertrainer...amazing for speed workouts amd longer runs. If you wanna stay with hoka, hoka mach x...others are the endorphin speed 3 or 4, puma deviate nitro 3 😁
Hello there, thanks a lot for your video, i found it very interesting. I will try out this shoe in wide, i hope i find a story to try it on, i am coming from joe nimble addict shoes for daily walks (work and dog) but found myself getting issues lately from the Nimble SHoes so i am planning to try this shout. I dont need it for running, but daily walks 10 k steps and more, thanks a lot
@@cadencestringer Hi there, I was in a store but they onle had normal widht, tried a 39 and a 40 and it was toooo small in the toe box, i have wide feed and they got even a bit wider after wearing Joe Nimble shoes for a year. But I will try to online order a 40 2/3 in Size Wide (Male Shoe) and hope that could be something. If not it will be very sad because I like the shoe
Hello, i got my Clifton 9 yesterday : EU 40, Wide version and male version and it fits perfect! I use them for daily walks (so far), but maybe I will buy another pair for running, too. The only downside is, so few color options available for the wider version :/ Great Shoe, thanks again for your video.
This vid was sick dude, thanks ❤
Appreciate it!
@@cadencestringer got my first pair today, can't wait to run in them - gone from vans to Nike frees to hoka. Feels like I'm walking on marsh mellows.
Seriously! They are so comfortable. Mine are almost a year old and I still love them!
Gave them a 17km run test today definitely passed the test. I do prefer lighter shoes if I had to be picky.
Highly relate to overthinking every shoe purchase 🙃
It's tough out here 😮💨
Literally the reason I’m here 😂😅

I tried all the Hoka shoes in store and found them all bulky. I went with the Asics gel nimbus 25. Cushy but didn’t feel bulky on my feet.
That makes sense, they're definitely a bulky shoe. Just looked them up, and the asics gel nimbus shoes look really nice!
Clifton 9 is lighter than 26
I got this shoe in black most comfortable shoe ever
Yes!! So comfortable
thank you for such a thorough review!! would love to see how you washed them

I learn more here than watching professional runner talking about their shoes 😃
So glad it was helpful!! Thanks for watching
Wow thank you for comparing with Bondi, I just bought bondi and I dont like the look :\\ I'll have to get the Clifton 😍

Okay I’m going to add these all to my list for my next shoe!! Thank you!
Deciding between this and the novablast 4. I heard the Clifton has poor outsole and midsole durability and im a heavier runner too
Mine have held up well but I do really short distances, so I wouldn’t be the right person to ask haha

Yeah I wish they had more colors for wide too. Glad the video was helpful! :)
Hi i need to walk in a park 3 miles and run 2 miles clifton 9 ok or nimbus 26 ?
I haven't tried the nimbus 26 so I'm not sure about those. I think the hoka clifton 9s would be good for walking and running those distances though!
Is this shoes heavier...???
@@saufykhan9535very light
Do you need to size up?
I just followed their size chart!
I did go in person to try the shoes on first to confirm before ordering, but I think the size I chose was the size recommended from the chart
Thanks 🙏🏽
