DOPE! I was wondering when I'd see a sample get flipped in the finalists (going through all the vids right now). It helps keep the game creative, rejuvenates old sounds, opens eyes to what they haven't seen before et cetera...et cetera. Continue on man, this is awesome. AND you record sounds live too, that's awesome.
@madmandaniel THANK YOU. ppl dont understand the art of chopping samples. I'm a musician as well, and I can say that flipping a sample and layering it can be challenging.
@WestCoastBombz I could've easily played the chords from scratch and chopped it up, but taking it from an older piece gives it a whole different vibe, unlocking creativity. If you check the link, you can hear some of my other instrumentals. Some from scratch, some sampled.
Great Job Homie.. Real Hip-hio-- And you sample the correct way..... Cut up a sample and then add you on sound over top of it to the point to dont even hear the sample as much.. Thats what I do.. Really good job
@downsalas This probably took around 20-25 minutes, Listening to the sample and chopping where I wanted, record and what not. Different productions take different amount of time though, it depends and you and how you're feeling. So don't try to rush your production. =)
@TrisLaw I personally prefer less sensitivity for my pads, because that helps vary my drums' velocity. But I THINK you can change the settings in the LPD8 editor program
@OnlyOmari nothing is wrong with it, but you made the drum line from scratch which was pretty cool, i wouldve gave you more props if it was all from scratch. created all by you, but above all its a cool track.
The sampling captures our attention and not just your creation. I feel like this contest was to display your own originality. the sampling was ok but would have been better without it. I like your drum and creative shaking though.
Omari T - You are great !
you have the whole R&B thing down to a science. Your skills alone puts you in the top 10!
OMG perfect Jazz/hip-hop combination

@OnlyOmari man fuck haters. this shit is mad dope my guy! Hip Hop would never be Hip Hop if there was no such thing as sampling!
aint nothing wrong with sampling.. some of the dopest beats out have been sampled... sampling also take a lot of skill!!
Sounds like something Bilal or Dwele would sing on
dont listen to that dude, we NEED sampling..too many people ignore sampling and imo its a vital part of hip hop.. dope dope beat
Hey !! you are an amazing producer!!! im starting production, tell me how much time did it took you to make the whole production?
big up..seems like u got a bit of money lool
Yo Omari i like that guitar bro.. What model Ibanez is it?
What was that you were using to record straight from the RUclips video, if that's what you were doing? Also what midi controller is that?
i wouldve gave you more props if you didn't use samples but i still give you a thumbs up for originality
you make a lot of producer's look like posers in this vid. Good work.
