It's a very nice bit of fake Rachmaninov. Try Piano Concerto #2 ruclips.net/video/yJpJ8REjvqo/видео.html around 32:55 - 33:30 or #3 ruclips.net/video/UKziGGumuEk/видео.html around 42:00-42:25
You are so right - and the other commenter too about the Rachmaninov influence. I always wanted to be able to hear it outside the film. Really beautiful and delightful, for such a whacky but great film.
I always use to love that little tune at 13:36 but now I can't get John Williams' Throne Room Theme from Star Wars out of my head when I listen to it lol
Depending on your country, the pitch differences are likely a switch between PAL and NTSC. Because of the frames per second differences they have, audio pitch changes because of it.
Oh my goodness someone else who has ears for this! My first encounter with everything being like 1/7 step higher was when I went to hit the notes for Michael Jackson's "I'm Bad" song. Every note is halfway between real ones on a piano. Johnny Costa's 'Mr Rodgers Neighborhood' album is also higher but there's an older collection of it with the pitch fixed as well.
The audio differences is to do with the region settings. UK standard is 25 frames per second, US standards and some other places broadcast at 30FPS. What we lose in frames, we gain in audio pitch.
To be honest, A Close Shave might be the darkest Wallace & Gromit film. Its music and ambience feel creepy compared to the other ones.
the wrong trousers was dark too if i can recall, feathers pointing a gun at gromit was something I didn’t expect while re watching it XD
Matter of Loaf & Death is literally about a woman who murders a dozen bakers. How can you get darker than actually murdering 12 people
13:35 is the whole reason I came here, the music that plays when from it is flying the plane is so good!
For some reason that sequence feels really patriotic??? I feel like I'm supporting our brave RAF by listening to it
Same here!
13:38 I’m obsessed with the sidecar transform of the aero ✈️.
2:20 the most majestic tone of Wallace and Gromit
6:49-7:12 is such a beautiful little snippet to me! I just wish it was longer.

Edit: The repeat of that refrain heard here from 7:58 - 8:15 perhaps more so
SAMEEE

That part at 3:30, kinda gets to you in a bitter sweet feeling

13:41 Me too

thanks
1:57 that the best part
15:01 the best part
8:47 is what I came for. It's a shame I can't find a muted background version of it because it's beautiful.
By heck! I thought we were all for the can, then!
I prefer the pitch in the newer releases compared to the original pitch the orchestra used sounds so much more whimsical and beautiful
Me too
Lower pitched version of this, mainly the He's A Robot music, sounded better like that, so I agree.

He's mulfuncting! mul what? He's turning himself as a Cyber dog! a cyber what? A robot!
Daddy created him for good, but he’s turned out evil.

4:38 I’d better see to him. As the bounce has gone from his bungee
If you want the connection of when Gromit flights, 13:36 15:11
The Pitch on the Newer 14:9 & 16:9 prints is slightly lower than the original 4:3 version
I hate when they zoom in the picture in old TV programs! They did it with The Simpsons and Garfield & Friends
14:09 16:09 4:03
Some 4:3 prints are also like this

My favourite parts are 0:16, 1:56, 11:26, 16:05, 16:21
Which had the better soundtrack: this or The Wrong Trousers?
I would imagine that that is a matter of individual personal preference. I like all of them equally well.
Both are an equally good masterpeace meditation session.
I grew up watching The Wrong Tousers so I might be a bit biased, but they are both great!
All
I think this one has the best out of the 4 imo.
14:59 the best part

11:06 A very dark bit.
9:07 this music will make Nightcore with starfire
You mean Nightwing
What is the song when gromit was having a dogfight with Preston

15:19 there goes the 🪽 15:26 porridge 15:29 attaboy, Gromit! 15:47 vacuum 15:50-16:01 in you go, Preston!
What if the first three Wallace and Gromit shorts are Public Domain?
Some people would abuse that privilege.
