Music wouldn't be where it is today. Without The Beatles influence and innovations. Greatest band ever.
Yes, I agree with your view!
i agree 100
I was one of those 73 million watching the airing of the Beatles that night. I will never forget it. I was only 5, but my sister was a huge Beatles fan, I watched it on a little black and white tv in her bedroom,. She used to drag me to the movie theatres to watch the movies they came out with. She had all the Beatle albums, and get ups. I use to walk around wearing her Beatle boots, and cap , haha .Good times, and good memories
They always get that wrong! It wasn't 73 million people watching, although that would be staggering for today, it was 73 million HOUSEHOLDS! Back then nearly all homes that had TV (some still did not.....) had just one, and everybody watched together, as a family! It was a massive audience.
In Good Loving Memory of John Lennon (1940-1980) and George Harrison (1943-2001). Glad Paul Mccartney and Ringo Starr are still around doing tours and continuing the Legacy for their two friends together.
My respects!....
Our minds and hearts would never be the same.
Thank You John, Paul, George and Ringo for the music.

I can remember watching that night. I was turning 13. I’m turning 73 now & still listen to their music. Everybody watched Ed Sullivan back then. Thank you Beatles for all the great music & memories 🎶🥁🎸🎼
The Beatles just had a universal joy quality that no other band has had since. I love Dylan, and The Stones about as much. They are Great Artists like The Who and Kinks, but as far as making you feel good and positive. Nothing tops the Beatles 63-65.
I can't imagine what you feel 😢
there will never be another beatles.
they are the most sensational band that ever lived.
they are shakespeare, they are mozart, they are beethoven, all rolled into one.
a miracle they all got together. a tragedy that 2 of the 4 are no longer with us. a blessing the other 2 still are.
but the music will live on forever and forever. just as we are still influenced by Aesop and Homer storytelling 2000 years later, the beatles beautiful music and poetry will live forever and ever.
Eternally grateful I remember it all. There's never really been anything like them.
I totally agree!
Pretty amazing time to have lived. I was six, and had as much energy as their music back then!
Yes, I agree with you.

Grew up listening to them. I mean, I was born in the early 2000s, but I've been a fan of them growing up, since preschool

I saw this live on TV! And when they played on Ed Sullivan as well. Til this day still a bona fide Beatles fan. They were the best!
I’ve been celebrating the February 7th anniversary every year since 1964. That day was a game-changer. It turned me into the Anglophile I still am today.
Good memories for you!
in what other aspects are you an anglophile? very interesting!
@@isaaccarter4181 Silly little things mainly. I listen to a London chat radio station almost all the time (LBC), I’ve been watching English period dramas and miniseries on PBS since 1971, my taste in pop music is not typical for an American at all. I hated disco, I hate rap and hip-hop (I’m too old for that stuff anyway). Most of the 80s music I like is from Europe and the UK. I buy some English products that I can’t do without like HP Sauce and Branston Pickle. I’ve been to England at least 45 times and even lived there for a while in 1977. I feel as comfortable in London as I do in NYC.
@cak813 I read your comment and noted that you are a wonderful person. But can you please tell me why you hate disco music!? They came in the 70's. I am a 62 year old man living in South Asia.
@@janath9118 It’s just a personal preference. I just never liked disco music and I’m a terrible dancer anyway. That whole disco scene never appealed to me. It was disappointing to me after all the great music of the 1960s, how dismal most of the music in the 70s was. There were exceptions, of course, but not many.
I remember it well. I was 13 at the time and feel fortunate that I experienced Beatlemania at the right age at the right time. And oh what a time it was.
I was just a kid but I remember all of this. My parents even let me stay up on a Sunday night to see the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was amazing, never having seen hysteria over a song, but I’ll treasure the memories forever. 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
I was babysitting the night they played on Ed Sullivan, but my mother walked up the hill and relieved me so I could go home and watch it on our TV.

60th Anniversary of The Beatles landing in New York.. How fast the time flies. It was in 1964 when The Beatles has arrived in NewYork, USA.
The Beatles were one of the best music bands in the world, and they are one of my most favourite bands upto the present time!
I am a man living in South Asia. I watched this video of ABC News channel and I am amazed to see and hear about the record breaking crowd of American fans who gathered to watch the fabulous Beatles arriving in NewYork and playing there! At that moment the British rock and roll band The Beatles were only four years through their musical journey.
My best regards to M/s. late John Lennon, Paul McCartney, late George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Very good memories!
Thank you for the video!
The girls were all over them... amazing 💞
Sad to think I listened to the Beatles for 60 years, and John only lived 40 years.
And music was never the same again
This is how special The Beatles are
No other band would have a news segment about them arriving in the US , 60 years ago
I was nine watching the Ed Sullivan Show via black and white television. My parents watching too. When the music was finished there was a quiet uncomfortable calm in our living room. I could sense something brilliant had changed the musical status forever. And that impression was great and lasting…
I live in Brooklyn, NY and I can't wait for the Paul McCartney photo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum to begin!
I saw it in London 8/2023. You will LOVE it!

They day the world turned from black and white to living culture. I was nine, I remember where I was sitting on the livingroom floor with my five sisters and brother. The night I fell in love with John Lennon.

Taking a picture back then was such a big deal, not everyone had cameras and when you took a picture, you would turn it in at the drug store after the film (remember that?) ran out. Then you would wait weeks for film to be developed. Imagine all the pictures if they had phone cams.
I have 8mm film of my brother and I watching Neil Armstrong historical walk the moon.
Swifties, eat your hearts out… nobody , nobody comes close to The Beatles impact, music and cultural importance.

@claudebonenfant6700 Yes, I agree!
@claudebonenfant6700, Right on buddy!!
The Beatles changed music forever without a single Twitter or Instagram…
@@andygrenn680 they changed music because they were the first to make chord changes in rock and roll and pop. now you could say someone else might have eventually done that but the people before them had9 years to do it and none of them did it, and we're talking greats like chuch berry, buddy hollyl, elvis and little richard, so the beatles adding chord changes to songs really took that music out of its simple form and really expanded it for some serious changes.
I saw it live on television.

60 years! I do remember. And i feel old.
We watched the Ed Sullivan Show. every Sunday. Seeing the Beatles performance made such an impression that next day, Monday, none of our teachers, in every class period, could teach because we, students, could not control our excitement. We talked about the Beatles and nothing else.
They SET the world ON FIRE
sitting in the enlisted mens club at Marine Corps Base El Toro in SoCal. watching the Ed Sullivan Show that night..... LOL we couldn't believe how long their hair was.....
What an era that was
Time flys !
And the world has never been the same. They are the faces of everything that happened in America in the 60s. I know, I was there.
The Beatles first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show was on February 9, 1964 and it was seen by over 73 million viewers and came to be regarded as a cultural watershed that launched American Beatlemania,as well as the wider British Invasion of American pop music. Ed Sullivan introduced the Beatles at 8:19 PM, when Paul sang "Close your eyes and I'll kiss You..." The famous first line from "All my Loving", followed by "Till There was You." The group returned later in the program to perform "I Saw Her Standing There," and "I Want to Hold Your Hand."
I was all of seven at the time and remember watching them on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Oh, and I love the Beatles and have Mc Cartneys new book with all his photos

I tried to find the complete video of either that entire Sullivan show or at least the two Beatles appearances on it and couldn't find it here. Has YT or whoever owns the rights blocked it and if so where can one find it, either for free or via some streaming service? It's pretty iconic and historical so it should really be available to anyone 60 years on.

I thought the Beatles were great but they did not transform rock n roll . We had rock n roll in the US long before they showed up on American soil .
They brought out a new era. A new look , a new hairstyle ,a new music style. My generation. I remember it. They sent the whole world ON fire
David, you appear a tad bit constipated. Good luck lad.
Skip. "World marks..."? Seriously? Name TWO people.
One New Yorker hates them.
All due respect but the whole world isnt marking the 60th anniversary of the Beatles landing in NYC, only the US is marking the anniversary. The only anniversary we celebrated as a whole around the world was the 60th anniversary of them releasing their first record. We don’t celebrate their arrival on US shores anymore than we celebrate them arriving in Japan or Spain. Better title would be “the US marks the 60th anniversary of the Beatles landing in NYC”.
America was and is the entertainment & cultural center of the world.
@@lynnturman8157 the US is the entertainment center of the world not America which is the continent ,and no one is disputing that but let’s be honest here, only the US is celebrating this date. As i said before, we don’t celebrate their arrival on countries but rather their arrival into the music industry which happened in 1962, which is significant. I’m sure japan will celebrate their arrival there but it also won’t be celebrated by the whole world. You guys really have your heads way up there don’t ya’ll? What’s next, you’re gonna tell me the US made the Beatles into super stars? When in fact they were already mega stars in 1963, the US was just a little bit late to the party.

@jeansherwood2428 Okay, Boomer.
well not till they broke up, the beatles kept getting better and better.
