元々メチャクチャカッコいい曲なんだけど、辻井さんの演奏は音の粒立ちが半端ない。一音一音潰れずに立ってツヤツヤしてる。きっと美味しいお米を食べて育ったんだろうな。
Watch the orchestra at the end, bursting into applause. Typically they give a polite gentle society clap so as not to detract from the artist, but here, they are exhuberant! And can you blame them! Incredible!

A great encore. Kaputsins Concert Etudes are little known masterpieces that need to be heard more often. Bravo!
Nobu's long-time piano teacher, Professor Masahiro Kawakami, is a champion of Kapustin's music. Nobu is influenced by him. He will be performing all 8 concert etudes (of which this encore is no. 1, prelude) in Germany and France this summer. The etude no. 2 is my favorite, and there are RUclips videos of Nobu performing it at age 17.
I have the sheet music to all of the Kaputsin Concert Etudes opus 40 which are extremely difficult technically. I believe #3 'Toccatina' and #5 'Shuitka' and especially #6 'Pastoral' are as great as any of the Chopin or Liszt Etudes.
That's what I heard. Nobu's teacher, Professor Kawakami, specializes in Kapustin's compositions and has given first-ever performances of his works, including his concertos, in Japan. I don't think many people understand what a feat it is for Nobu to play this piece for encore after performing Tchai 1. And, get this, in a recent concert in Japan, he plays this piece for encore after performing both Rachmaninov's Paganini Rhapsody AND Tchai1, without break.
Nobu has obviously been a great musician during previous lives as well as this one. When you have time, take a look at what violinist Yehudi Menuhin has to say about God. In Japan the great Buddhist Nicheren Daishonin is revered and rightfully so. I would love to learn someday that Nobu has become a follower of this great Saint.
MA Hamelin, undoubtedly the greatest technical pianist of our day, is also relatively a Kapustin patriot. I myself am proud to be of Ukrainian lineage; I find No. 4 to be the most technically challenging and akin to the difficulty of Liszt’s Feux Follets/ S.137 No. 5. However, Kapustins etudes still technically pale compared to Hamelin’s in difficulty but are of course comparable in terms of musicality. Both very interesting and accomplished composers and pianists. (:

Nobu has been performing this piece as encore all over the world, including at the Carnegie Hall on May 10. The audience, although most of them might have no idea what he played, always go wild at the end :-)

昔、海外のジャズコンサートイベントの映像で、ハービーハンコックに紹介されて「パリの目抜き通りで」を弾いて喝采を浴びた山下洋輔さん以来の感動。
なんか、普段はアンプとかスピーカーの高いのを無理して買ってジャズを聴いてるけど、
RUclipsで音質の悪いこの演奏を聴いて、圧倒されて感動して涙を流してる自分に矛盾を感じる（笑）。
良い演奏に音質とかあんまり関係ないね。

この曲はクラッシックとジャズの融合された曲ですがかなりのリズム感が無いとグルーヴ感が上手く出ず全体的に曲が纏まらなくなります。
辻井さんは早弾きの中にグルーヴ感を醸し出し美しく曲調を纏めあげています。
ここまでくると・・・・うーん・・彼はやっぱり天才としか言いようがない。😅

True, but it is important to understand that Nobuyuki is not just learning by rote, by imitating others' performances. Instead, he learns by listening to the notes on each hand recorded separately, then put them all together in his head and through practices -- it is a process tailored for him, by his childhood piano teacher Masahiro Kawakami.

彼もカプースティン曲を演奏する天才である川上先生に出会えていなかったら、この素晴らしすぎる辻井さんの演奏に巡り会えなかったかも。

Yes, I think it is the influence of Mr. Kawakami that Nobu plays Kapustin. I heard him play this piece live twice, and he brought down the house each time. I would love to hear him play the etude no. 2 also.
