As a professional punching bag for better fighters, he sold himself well by making the pre-determined winner earn a lot of credit with the spectators. Basically he was being a real life heel, and I would say it worked out for him. He even got to fight (and lose to) Browne again.
IDK, man, at least Kirkland was respectful. Some of those other guys deserved even more than they got; Kirkland was just confident. That confidence wasn't enough, but at least he wasn't disrespectful
100%. I've never seen a fighter go in there saying "I think I'm going to get destroyed in there", he just had the sort of confidence every boxer has. Even said he's a fan of alvarez
@@vladimirpoutine7522Don’t you think the one inch punch is separate, as well as acting? I mean neither have anything to do with an actual fight or anything before or leading up to one. Did he ever act like a showboat before or during a real fight.
Here ‘s the thing. Acting the fool never does anything but strengthen the resolve of the opponent, with a few exceptions, and when you get stomped, you end up as a fool for eternity in one of these videos.
I don't understand why Kirkland is on this list? He wasn't cocky duing the build up. Definitely wasn't cocky in the fight itself. It's never been his style to be cocky. Yeah he was confident in himself and what he could do, but what is he supposed to say? "I think Canelo is better than me. I'm just getting in the ring to get knocked out and get paid." Why train a box if you don't think you can win?
Yes you are right. So you call training on point getting knocked out twice in one round. If you wanna wanna talk the talk at least, at least walk the walk

I don't think Kirkland should be in this list. His prefight speeches were just the normal "I'm gonna win" sort of things that every fighter says. He wasn't disrespectful and didn't act like a fool in the ring.
Julius Long was one of the biggest jokes in boxing. The man was 7.1, had the reach advantage, but got knocked out so many times by smaller opponents. He should have quit in shame.
I felt sorry for James Kirkland, again we had a fighter whos antics outside the ring prevented him to progress further in the sport. He really did have massive potential. Its a sad ending to a guy who could have gone a long way in the sport.
I don't know him well, but honestly (based ion what I did see), a lot of his interviews were more interesting than the usual interviews we tend to hear in sports... What I mean is that, due to his willingness to be more honestly forthcoming and open (rather than prudent and purely money-conscious/pc/diplomatic), we were able to hear a few more of his genuine insights about stuff. When hot dogs get served with humble pie, it is my favorite.
I didnt see Kirkland being overly cocky. They all talk crap. There is a line between being very confident and being stupidly cocky
Considering as performance in the fight it doesn't look like he had a right to be confident
IDK, man, at least Kirkland was respectful. Some of those other guys deserved even more than they got; Kirkland was just confident. That confidence wasn't enough, but at least he wasn't disrespectful
You're absolutely right about Kirkland. Not once did he talk trash and granted he got his butt kicked but he was never disrespectful.

Klitschko ist fake
The trash talkers were trying to convince themselves they weren't gonna get their faculties knocked loose.
The more a guy talks about how he is going to destroy an opponent means he has doubts about winning.
Not always the case. Floyd is 50-0
Mike Tyson 🤔
Chris Arreola said Stiverne was going to remember him. He was right.
But Arreola can't remember any of it.
No doubt. Remembered as the guy he beat to win the belt.

I wonder how much $ he lost.
