I come from a bjj background but I've always been interested in other martial arts, so much so that I've traveled to some countries just to try them out. I always cared about the authenticity of something I am learning or interested in wanting to preserve in their culture. In this vlog I don't wish to disrespect any promotions or fighters who fight under them, nor do I wish to attempt to make any analytical commentary to what is real Muay Thai. These to me are simply just opinions that I have formed and heard through podcasts and readings which I will link them below.
For me, After watching stadium Muay Thai I still don't really have a good idea what makes Muay Thai authentic or not. I do know that I had an amazing time and would recommend Lumpinee stadium to anyone. Also, I would rank Thailand Muay Thai at the highest pedestal in terms of what I have seen in live combat.
I respect the Golden age fighters, and I find it interesting how they discuss the changes in terms of technique and style now due to either gambling, or foreign influences. Since the gym I went to in Chiang Mai is a Muay Femur style Kru, which is becoming less popular due to Muay Khao being favored now. This subject just felt naturally interesting to cover, also it has correlations to how bjj has changed due to ibjjf sport jiu jitsu rule set, compared to the Gracie Self defense way.
