    Happy to see same tradition from thousand miles away from its origins. Same tradition is part of any hindu wedding in UP or Bihar India. After hundred of year still remain same. Kudos to you guys who still keep alive such awesome tradition. Whenever you plan to visit India please let us know, For sure will show you same tradition and culture here. Love from india❤️

    Thanks to hindu Indian Gyanases to keep the rituals ,customs and traditions intact among a adverse since almost 200yrs .Indian origins who migrates were great and wise in true sense.Wish for their wellbeing and prosperous , loyal to serve their country.Love and live from Assam India.

    Can't believe, how our distant relative in far away countries r still following hindu bihari rituals, similar to ones in bihar, although with some western touch, but as I see almost all words used r as same as it is used now.
    Kudos to them "our customs zinda rakhne ke liye"

    Guyana is the best place that you can have a great time attending a wedding, It reminds me of my niece wedding we attended back in 2012 in Guyana, I was the poowa. Never visited Guyana since. Hope to visit soon.🇨🇦🇬🇾🇨🇦

    If you have never been to and Indian wedding before, put that on your bucket list, best wedding given been to , 5 days . I've never seen so much food before, 7 curry for about 2000 people 🥳❤🥰

    We call it Matkor in Bihar in India. Same tradition intact in Guyana. Lattho is a sweet made of wheat flour and jaggery. I used to win this from hawker after exchanging spare metals in my childhood in Gaya Bihar.

    That mithai is called 'lakatha' in bhojpuri. Everything is exactly the same as we perform matikor at the eve of the wedding here in UP.

      These traditions are the same because they originated from Bihar India. The people of Mauritius, Maldives, Fiji and the West Indies are originally from Bihar. They Surinamese are ones who keeps the traditions the closest to Bihar

      The People of Fiji, the Maldives , Mauritius , the Caribbean and Suriname are mainly from Bihar India. How ever a good percentage are from Southern India. Mainly from the Kerala region

    Hi Danny It’s good to see that the wedding traditions are still very strong in Guyana. However as I remember dig Dutty usually happens under a tree .This is commonly practiced in Queens NY as well as in New Jersey. Comments any one. My best friend got married a few years ago in New Jersey and the dig Dutty took place under a tree. The tree was identified a few days before.

    This ritual (Matkodan) is also done by my Community in Jharkhand, 🇮🇳. And after this ritual brides Jija ji draw water from well to wash black gram lentil and then he gets a gift.😊
