*_I worked for a major corrugated cardboard box plant_*
Our equipment was expensive state of the art. We could produce over 6 million square feet of cardboard per shift on our single wall factory line. We could produce similar quantities on the double wall factory line. Some customers bought plain sheets of corrugated cardboard and they would process it into their own finished products. Most of our corrugated stock was converted into boxes. We had 4 color flexo printers, rotary die cut systems, fold and glue equipment, bundling, stacking, and wrapping finish goods. Each line could make over 100 boxes per minute 24/7 as needed. Need a million boxes, no problem. Our cutout cardboard scrap was recycled. It was compressed, bailed, and sent back to our paper making plant.
This video is amazing. Although their technology is crude by our standards, the actual 'process' is identical. 2 rolls of paper top and bottom, fluted inner core, all glued and heated to set adhesion. Their daily output is much smaller, their touch labor much higher. They probably have fewer 'breakdowns' of highly integrated equipment. We used Steam to heat our rollers, not open flames. Fire is an ever present hazard when you have millions of pounds of paper and machines with moving parts. We did have a fire once, it took 1 week to put all the hot spots out. Plant was closed for weeks while damaged repaired.

@@69roorsam Thanks for comment. Yes they had a large industrial boiler. High pressure steam = high temperature. It was used for several processes. I used to go stand in boiler room in winter to warm up. In summer it was too hot.

I love how every equipments they used here are mostly old school requiring extensive labours, but suddenly you see them using a chain-fed ROTARY SLOTTER!! (I was expecting to see an eccentric slotter being used here!) Then after the very fast slotting they go back to manual gluing on the floor again!?! its so contradictory 😅

The corrugated plant I worked at had a few more safety requirements. PPE worn all times in plant. They would have made us wear orange vests in bathroom if it improved 'safety'. I was directing a crane pick on top of our roof. Got busted by GM for not wearing my vest. I said 'really - why?" He said 'because'. LOL.
