I have literally developed a fear of trousers because the patterns we drafted at uni used to take forever and always had some kind of issue. Excellent tutorial, however when doing actual sewing it would have been better to use plain fabric eith different colour thread so it would be shown better, especially for beginners

Lovely job of both the trousers and the tutorial! It's helpful to have you explain what you're going to sew and then show us what it looks like when you've sewn it. Your baby is lucky to see you making things; s/he will learn more than you realise, and be used to the process when s/he is old enough to be taught and sew for her/himself. My Mum sewed clothes for me and I learned at her side. I've only just begun making clothes, 40 or 50 years afterwards, but the knowledge is still in my head because I learned as a child. Once again, lovely video, lovely trousers, lovely demonstration. Thank you!

Thanks very much for the brilliant tutorial. I tried to make trousers using a brand paper pattern. I ended up rolling the sad result up and putting it in the never to be fixed container. I really wanted an easy for beginner type pattern. But the one I got seemed to be speaking in the language of gibberish. I have no idea what I was supposed to do with piece 8 and piece 9, there was no reference to either of these numbers on the instructions. So I decided to look and see if someone who is amazing at sewing had a video for the likes of me, who has no experience in sewing adult clothes. You did a fantastic job, really spending time to explain what you are talking about. Thank you. I am going to try again, using your method. Thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪
oh my goodness you have no idea how useful your pattern drafting video and this video was to me! I had hit a really hard point unable to proceed with my jean sewing project and we have ZERO ideas on how to actually manipulate a large scale pattern properly and we are doing course work from home 'cuz of covid... I would appreciate it if you did a specific tutorials on how to sew front and back pockets as well. But thank you so much your videos were really helpful!

Looks really good! I made my first garment yesterday.. a gathered skirt on some spare fabric I had, with a lap zipper and hook/eye fastener. It came out really well. I'm gonna give the trousers a go. But I don't know how to draft a pattern. I'll find out. I'm an experienced bag/purse maker but a complete novice at sewing garments lol but I want to learn so thank you for the tutorial. OMG, Dami!! I JUST made my own trouser from your directions. I'm so excited. They fit so nicely. I did have to take in the hips a bit to make it more fitted, just as you had to do in your own, but now I'm saving this pattern for more trouser!. I was nervous throughout because I've NEVER been successful at sewing pants. This is the third thing I've sewn based on your channel that has came out well. I also did the Jacket with Shawl Collar and a peplum top. Love your videos! Keep up the amazing work. I followed all the instructions but I don't know why. I did cut off 2inches from all the patterns for the waist though.
@@kinyah9256 Okay yeah, I did. And that shouldn't make your pant smaller at the waist circumference, it's only meant to keep the pant a low waist, it can be high waisted if you don't take off that 1.5" which should be ok too. Perhaps your didn't take your measurements right or your calculation was wrong...
I love the fabric you used for those pants! I also love that you had hidden stitches on the waistband. I'm still not quite clear on how you did it. Do you have any videos where you show yourself sewing it? I know you described it but I just couldn't seem to visualize it. I would love to see how to make a waistband that stretches that looks similar to the one you made (no gathering). Would darts be necessary on a stretch material? Thank you so much for this video. The pattern drafting tutorial was also very interesting. I was thinking I would love to have sort of hidden pockets (where the pockets start at the outer seam of the pants) because they are less obvious but also seem like they might be easier to make. Would a stretchy waistband need to be curved?
