On that day ten years ago, then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd delivered the National Apology to Australia’s Indigenous Peoples. In particular, it included an apology to the Stolen Generations.
The Apology is now considered a defining moment in Australian history.

My great grandma was apart of the Stolen generation, I don't know the full story of it though. In Indigenous culture we have a thing called totems, totems are something we have to take care of. We can't eat, kill, hurt our totem at all. If your Indigenous you can ask you parent/parents what your totem(s) are. (Totems are an animal you have to take care of, you can not harm them. You Take care of them, they take care of you.)
I know a few of my totems which are:
    Dolphins
    Torres Strait Pigeon
    Dragonfly
    Sea Turtle
I do not know the rest of them sadly because My great grandma was apart of the stolen generation. Meaning her totem is unknown, if we knew her totem my totem would be the same as My great grandma and my mother.
(Totems get passed down, So if my great grandfathers totem was a Shark my dad, and 2 brothers would have the same as him.)
If I ever find out what my other totem is I would be great-full but for now it is unknown.

I was just a child when this happened. I knew it was a big deal, but it's not until now that I sat down and watched the whole 30 minute speech that I realise how ASTOUNDING that this happened at all. How many governments, or government officials, would have the guts and the integrity to come out and take complete responsibility. And judging from Rudd's other comments, back then this apology was controversial, beccause of course it was. But he still went through with it. Everyone who made this possible has my respect.

I will accept a government apologizing for its own or past governments’ polices that have been harmful.
I will not accept having an ethnic group as a whole apologize for wrongdoings, real or alleged. The idea that whole ethnicities/races of people, dead and alive, are collectively guilty is extremely dangerous; that idea has frequently led to genocide.

so if your from a stolen generation, then how can you prove it, if your elder that was stolen has no paperwork?
and paperwork is required then they're just virtue signalling by trying to appear well meaning, but where is all the money going? its obviously already been appointed?

This was Contraversial at the Time and Still is a Bit in 2024.
At it's Heart, the Issue was about the Failure of Families and the Role of Governments and Religions in Dealing with Aboriginal Family Failure Verses Non Aboriginal.
Also the Issue of can a Government Apologise for the Failings of Australia in Past Dealings with Aboriginal and Mixed Race Peoples.
Another Issue was in the Background, it was the Issue of Australia's Fossil Fuels and Environment Record. Hence this Raised the Question of Distraction or Dysfunction by Labor.

My parents were and are Liberal voters. I remember in the early 2000s dad being really emotional/aggro about apologising - because he thought aboriginals would 'take everything' the minute we apologised. And for dad, that was the whole schtick around voting - use your vote to quash the uncertainties. He remarried and has a wonderful wife from China - and they vote for Pauline Hanson. No joke. They live in a wafer of BS.
