  • 200 ft Crosslay, speed load, triple layer load using FDNY Spec or 1.88" hose. This technique should be used for the 2 1/2 Crosslay as well.

I wonder how much they clowned Martinez for rolling a gutter ball. I've done it many of times too.

lordismo I was there for this, the idea was to show a dirty, minimally edited video on how to load hose for rookies (and the rookies at heart). and yes, I've done that before too

Love the triple fold. Easy to load and even easier to deploy for those who may struggle with upper body strength.

If you take an old piece of 2 1/2 hose about 10 inch"s long (sew or melt the ends to stop fraying)and put it over the end of the pony where it attaches to the first 50 foot section of the lay it will protect the paint on the rig. We have been using a triple for many years with great success and a very fast clean pull off.

What a pain in the ass way to load hose.

myriadcorp -How do you do it?

Perhaps. It also deploys like a absolute legend and only pulls out 66 feet to make 200ft. charge that baby and your good to go. No spaghetti mess. No real hose tidying before charge

It may be "a pain in the ass way to load hose" but it's what my department uses.
I had to pull one and bring it to the door for the investigation crew after they found that fire had escaped a chimney through a gap in the sheet metal sections it was made of and then spread upwards through the interior of the wall and into the attic of a home.
I pulled it with ease and it charged without kinks or having to flake it despite me having NEVER previously deployed ANY kind of a crosslay before due to being brand new and having just begun my training.
