Congratulations!!! I ran the 106km race as well (finished in 16:59:35). It was a very hard race, but even though it was wet and cold, I still enjoyed it a lot!!
Cool Video, I would have liked to see the scenes of the last Downhill from Nockstein (crossing this torrent 🙈🙈🙈), but understand that you was unable because of the cold, that was hell of Earth in the end! But pain is for the Moment, glory is forever 🤘
I wish I could have filmed more, especially the suepr steep mud sections on the final descent, and yes the bit where you hold the rope to cross the river. I tried a few and the videos looked crap. But yes - hell on earth!
Congratulations Ian! I also did the 100k, however, was very slow going in the 2nd half and when I arrived at the penultimate aid station (10k from Salzburg) the race was stopped prematurely by the officials! I and about 50 others suffered that fate. We still get "finisher" status, just for a 96k ultra and not a 106k :) I'd be interested to see your kit list.......I found that even a jacket with HH of 20 000 still let water in after that torrential rain and that combined with the wind was very very cold!!! Again well done for a fantastic time and for getting (all the way) to the end!!
Ah nice one, congratulations! I agree, my jacket has HH20,000 and was soaking wet after an hour. I had layers on from St Gilgen, and by the Koppl CP, I had a thick long sleeve Helly Hansen on, light t shirt, Montane Windproof jacket then a Montane Minimus Waterproof jacket on top. Everything was soaking but just about warm
@iangarnett4087 ha right not just me then. I really think that weather pushed everyone and everything to their limits. I had all sorts of issues with equipment: watch screen changing constantly due to being wet, phone settings changing which I'm still discovering today. One of the worst things was my head torch switching to battery saving mode for the last 2h and having no way to charge it due to my back up charger and cable, which were wrapped in a plastic eventually getting wet and muddy and dying! 2h alone in the dark in the mud with just over 1m view in front of your feet is no fun :D
Hey, I remember you and I found myself in the the end of your video. I've been the one with the yellow rain jacket at 08:30. Congrats for finishing! ;) I subscribe to your channel. All the best, Hannes
I remember you, there was 2 of you? I stayed with you for a while passing people. And the clip you said were were behind someone on the steps trying to get past 😆😆. Congratulations to you also!
That looked ... damp. Superb effort to push through. 👏👏👏
Cheers Martin

Nice one Ian. Solid running. I did the marathon. Crazy day! But fun overall.
Type 2 fun! The big final climb and descent was brutal!
