But immediately he noticed from the method he used that Ichigo powers were indeed not at all like anything he had seen before. if the process had been allowed to continue, what would've happened was that Zangetsu would've fully awakened. But because of Zangetsu hollow nature then we can assume he would've taken control of Ichigo entire being, or not… Still we have Ichigo find a blade that supposedly was his true Zanpakutō and by removing it from the box, he becomes a Shinigami. And I say supposedly because as Bleach has shown us, the one that had the real Zangetsu blade under his power was always Old Man So what it meant was that when Ichigo discovered the box during urahara's training and then pulled out the Zanpakutō then Old Man took possession of it so he could suppress as much of Zangetsu as he could while being in charge of Ichigo power. So let me show you: So because of Pesquisa, full Hollow Ichigo or in this case Zangetsu, knew Ulquiorra attack was going to miss hence he didn't even bothered to move. But when he knew he was not going to miss then he moved. Hierro By Ichigo being able to grab Ulquiorra “Lanza del Relampago” he showed just how powerful his Hierro was. So even Zangetsu preferred to use Hollow abilities. Even though obviously he could also use Shinigami abilities that even the Shinigami don't exactly possess. "The Blade Is Me", this line is the reason why some Soul Reapers have odd relationships with their zanpakutos. This concept was never taught in the academy and is something that the Soul Reapers have to realize for themselves. This is why we have people like Shuhei who don't like their swords or Kenpachi who can't even hear them. They haven't realized that not recognizing their powers is literally the same as not accepting who they really are. Zanpakutos aren't just tools, or source of power, or a sentient being that's a servant, companion, friend etc. They are a piece of their own souls being manifested, they are basically you. Which is why Ichigo says, "This time, I'll fight on my own", he finally understood what it all means and have come to accept who he really is. Beautiful concept.

A journey of a person trying to live his life by denying his true self but he eventually realize that the only way to live in a fullest he must accept his true self -that include his inner badside. This is what separate bleach from naruto, one piece and other popular anime out there its about accepting you true self.
The Blade IS Me is my favorite moment in all of Bleach. It completes Ichigo's character arc and every mystery surrounding him. Our boy has finally achieved enlightenment.
Also a little tidbit, when Kenpachi stabbed Ichigo in soul society when saving Rukia. When old man zangetsu brought him to his inner world, it was that weird Quincy darkness ability that we saw them use in the first few episodes of this arc. Also in the manga Kenpachi brought up the fact that Ichigo’s stab wound stopped bleeding, and that was the blut vene quincy defense ability. But yay 😀 you’re caught up. My favorite bit of foreshadowing is back when ichigo was training with urahara, "zangetsu" says my name is and in the Manga it's blacked out and in the anime it's garbled. This was yhwach trying to tell ichigo his real name but his quincy powers hadn't awakend. So he became ichigos center of power and guided him
What he meant by "I would have to kill you" is not by Zangetsu-Yhwach killing him but he meant that eventually Ichi would meet the real deal Yhwach and they would fight with the high possibility of killing Ichi
[Tidbits & Clarifications] [Get ready for a mini Book, lol (For those interested in particular details)] - This episode is so important because it effectively finishes off Ichigo's character development. As we all know the Zanpaktou is representative of a Characters self progression and Here Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts and loves himself, Which is something he couldn't do given his trauma. -Throughout the entire show Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu, in fact, the first & only time that part of Ichigo's soul spoke its name, we could not hear it. More important is that if you go back through the story "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was actually White that kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention cling to a false understanding. - Some still question "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so practically Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one. - It's really cool how Kubo uses Ichigo being a mixed breed to show that he has Quincy Powers, we can assume that this Young Ywach looking being existed in all Quincy, but unlike Ichigo, Quincies can't visit their inner soul...only Shinigami can, so Ichigo would be the only one in existence able of experiencing this . -This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself. - The special Gigai Urahara used with Isshin was the same kind Urahara used in an attempt to secretly turn Rukia Human. - The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers. - Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast .
I wonder how much of this Kubo had planned from the start because when OMZ tries to tell ichigo his name it almost sounds like he say Yhwach. Also when he fought Kenpachi the hollow mask shows up behind home before the final clash.

The poem at the end of last episode is about zangetsu and ywach. So maybe when zangetsu says “ i will have to kill you with my own hands” he means the quincy king.

this episode changes so many interactions from the past if u now go back and watch the science with white and old man white always acted to teach Ichigo how to use his power how to make him self stronger and to protect him old man always worked to try and guide Ichigo and keep true power he had under control to protect him by keeping him away from fights. white called him self zangetsu multiple time and talked about taking the throne and in the final getsua arc old man says to Ichigo they are both his power we however ignored that at the time

Well Ishin agreed with Souken that he was worse because Ichigo was unaware of his powers until he was 15. Uryu trained since he was a kid so he had that over Ichigo.
the old anime didn't put the episode names and even if they did the names were way different from the chapter names so you don't get the full effect but one of the chapters way back was called the blade AND me which was way back when ichigo realized he was just using zangetsu as a crutch and said he wouldn't rely on him anymore he would fight together. So now its the blade IS me where he don't say he will fight alongside zangetsu anymore because now he knows they and him are the same thing. He don't really count as a dual wielder but hisagi has a dual wield type weapon. It was kind of confusing but when old man said he would have to kill ichigo with his own hands i think he was talking about the real world yhwach. the inner yhwach was trying to suppress ichigo's powers so he would never get to the point where he would fight him.
Something that had always bothered me about Ichigo getting his powers back at the end of the Fullbring Arc was that there was no interaction with Zangetsu. Kinda rude of Ichigo tbh after using the Final Getsuga Tenshou to not see how Zangetsu was doing now. From a meta perspective, I've come to the conclusion that this interaction was avoided so that Old Man's voice and appearance wouldn't be fresh in our minds as we're introduced to Yhwach.

My favorite bit of foreshadowing is back when ichigo was training with urahara, "zangetsu" says my name is and in the Manga it's blacked out and in the anime it's garbled.
This was yhwach trying to tell ichigo his real name but his quincy powers hadn't awakend. So he became ichigos center of power and guided him

Which is why they had to change his appearance during the original gotei 13 flashback. Seeing him looking like zangetsu would have given it away.
What he meant by "I would have to kill you" is not by Zangetsu-Yhwach killing him but he meant that eventually Ichi would meet the real deal Yhwach and they would fight with the high possibility of killing Ichi

- This episode is so important because it effectively finishes off Ichigo's character development. As we all know the Zanpaktou is representative of a Characters self progression and Here Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts and loves himself, Which is something he couldn't do given his trauma.
-Throughout the entire show Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu, in fact, the first & only time that part of Ichigo's soul spoke its name, we could not hear it. More important is that if you go back through the story "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was actually White that kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention cling to a false understanding.
- Some still question "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so practically Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one.
- It's really cool how Kubo uses Ichigo being a mixed breed to show that he has Quincy Powers, we can assume that this Young Ywach looking being existed in all Quincy, but unlike Ichigo, Quincies can't visit their inner soul...only Shinigami can, so Ichigo would be the only one in existence able of experiencing this .
-This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself.
- The special Gigai Urahara used with Isshin was the same kind Urahara used in an attempt to secretly turn Rukia Human.
- The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers.
- Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast .
I wonder how much of this Kubo had planned from the start because when OMZ tries to tell ichigo his name it almost sounds like he say Yhwach. Also when he fought Kenpachi the hollow mask shows up behind home before the final clash.

this is definitely one of my fav episodes of the entire show. The animation, gorgeous, the reveals, breathtaking, those final lines from Ichigo, I was crying.

this episode changes so many interactions from the past if u now go back and watch the science with white and old man white always acted to teach Ichigo how to use his power how to make him self stronger and to protect him old man always worked to try and guide Ichigo and keep true power he had under control to protect him by keeping him away from fights. white called him self zangetsu multiple time and talked about taking the throne and in the final getsua arc old man says to Ichigo they are both his power we however ignored that at the time
now imagine how much strong ichigoat is gonna be after this if all what he displayed was a mere fragment of his true strength
Zangetsu turned off the "water tap" of his spiritual pressure and whatever drops leaked out was what ichigo has been using the entire series up to this point. Beast mode activated
I like to imagine Zangetsu giving Ichigo the side eye every time he called “Zangetsu” by his name.
Well Ishin agreed with Souken that he was worse because Ichigo was unaware of his powers until he was 15. Uryu trained since he was a kid so he had that over Ichigo.

the old anime didn't put the episode names and even if they did the names were way different from the chapter names so you don't get the full effect but one of the chapters way back was called the blade AND me which was way back when ichigo realized he was just using zangetsu as a crutch and said he wouldn't rely on him anymore he would fight together. So now its the blade IS me where he don't say he will fight alongside zangetsu anymore because now he knows they and him are the same thing.
He don't really count as a dual wielder but hisagi has a dual wield type weapon.
It was kind of confusing but when old man said he would have to kill ichigo with his own hands i think he was talking about the real world yhwach. the inner yhwach was trying to suppress ichigo's powers so he would never get to the point where he would fight him.

Something that had always bothered me about Ichigo getting his powers back at the end of the Fullbring Arc was that there was no interaction with Zangetsu. Kinda rude of Ichigo tbh after using the Final Getsuga Tenshou to not see how Zangetsu was doing now. From a meta perspective, I've come to the conclusion that this interaction was avoided so that Old Man's voice and appearance wouldn't be fresh in our minds as we're introduced to Yhwach.
