There used to be a website where you could submit questions for the Ventures to answer. Someone asked about 'Pedal Pusher' and the reply was that a volume pedal was used, one of the first.

Definitely a volume pedal. George Harrison already had one in 65 that he used on I Need You.

Probably an early volume tone pedal. Dearmond had a few out at this time.

@mlkemper Interesting since he use a volume pedal in this tune (or maybe he use the volume knobs of his guitar, the effect is the same, but it's a bit easier to achieve with a volume pedal).
Maybe there are Wah-Wah pedals that also can be used as a volume pedal? I don't use any pedals these days, but when I did, I had separate pedals for volume and wah-wah.

What is used is a linear volume pedal. Almost same effect as a wow pedal.
Yamaha used it in their YC30 AND YC40 Double Manual organs....before the synthesisers hit the scene.
