I'm an Igbo man from Anambra State. I believe the Ikwerre and Agbor are Igbos, because I've interacted with and understood them well. However, we shouldn't force it, if an Ikwerre man says he's not Igbo, then let him identify as whatever he wants to identify with. The only problem is their constant switching between Igbo and Ikwerre whenever it suits them.

If I am speaking with an Igbo man he will ask me are you from Anambra ? They are creating states to separate Igbos . You can go to Agbo in delta state and ask this question you will find out that is the same answer you will get .

Dialect is from a language not a language of it's own. In every language, there's always dialects. Even in the five states they minimised Igbo today still have their different dialects. For example, when an nsukka man from Enugu state speaks Igbo in his dialect, an Owerri man from imo state may not understand it 💯 percent and vise versa and when an ngwa man from abia state speaks Igbo in his dialect an Onitsha man from Anambra state may not understand it 💯 percent and vise versa, and the same with abakaliki man from eboyi state. But that does not mean they are not all Igbo language. And in most cases I believe some people understands the whole Igbo dialects. I want to believe that every other languages like yoruba and Hausa languages have their own different dialects in their various places.

The concept of Ikwerre not being Igbo is mere political manipulation. The dialect is Ikwerre but the people and culture are of same stock and origin as the rest Igbos spreading from Ezza to Ukwuani (Kwale) to Mba mmili (Riverine). There are various dialects of the Igboid people imcluding Izii of the Ebonyi Igbos, Ika of the Delta Igbos, Ikwerre of the Riverine, etc. Let all Igboid clusters refuse the current divide and rule manipulations of politicians, for as the ancient Igbos would say in a proverb, "Igbo speaks diverse tongues but they all cough alike".

Ikwerre is not Igbo, English is very common and simple, major tribe does not mean minor tribes are embedded in them. At every tribal boundaries languages are interwoven, for example the Andoni tribe language sounds like ibibio because they share common boundary with Akwa Ibom, the part of Edo that share common boundary with Ondo State speaks a language that has alot of similarity with Yoruba language, ilaje, the riverine part of Ondo State, speaks a language that sounds like kalabari language, TIV language sounds like efik because they share boundaries with Cross River State, the part of kalabari that shares boundary with ikwerre (I mean degema), you will find traces of ikwerre in their language as well and most times it is difficult for abonnema people to understand what a degema man is saying, etc..... In Europe, at the boundary between Poland and Ukraine, the languages are similar..... I can keep mentioning instances.
I don't know when knowledge will be most glaring to all of you guys that argue trash here........ Ikwerre is a tribe on its own, it is not Igbo neither is it ijaw. IKWERRE IS IKWERRE.

The questions should be made simple for a non Igbo speaker to follow and understand.
For example, they should be asked to count numbers.
Say the name of body parts
Say the name of items or things, like, chair, heaven, land, yam, cocoyam, leaf, walls, house, doors, laughter, crying, sleep, shit, water, blood, light and darkness etc.
This Bini and Ijaw and Hause,Yoruba story is only because of oil and the lost of the civil war.

The Ancient Kingdom of Isiokpo was part of old Imo State.
Let it be known that there is what you call dialect.
Which is what the what the Isiokpo people speak.
My place in Imo also have a dialect different from Owerre in the same state.
Ikwere in Ogbunabali have dialect speak different from Isiokpo in Rivers state.
All this are under Igbos as the tribe with their different dialect.
Fulanis are just playing over the Brian of you people.
Let it be known,it is not because Yorubas have accommodated Oworis amd Elaje people or as Fulani has penetrated the Hausas that makes you to thinking I must be the same.
The RUclipser is confuse because he is still separating Ikwere from Igbo in their conversation.

After the civil war there might have been a construction to manipulate the Igbo tribal hegemony and the same goes with the Disintegration of the oil producing areas in igboland into many states such that igr of oil generation and the development spill over did not have a critical mass in any of the SE states. The panel on creation of states was biased and undemocratic

Ikweres are igbo. They have similar cultural and common and attitudinal values with and ethos and orientation with Ngwa sub ethnic people. Their next day neighbours. It is indisbutable. It is the mis led individuals in Ikwere that foolishly deny their cultural and consanguinous affinity and commonality with the igbo.
