  • Argentina's President Elect Javier Milei is visiting Washington DC for talks with US government officials and the IMF.
A spokesperson for Milei says the talks are aimed first and foremost at explaining his economic plans.
Milei was elected on a platform of radical measures that he says will drag Argentina out of its decades-long economic slump.

A chainsaw is used for cutting. Its a metaphor into cutting budgets and government overspending.
      It's pretty self-explanatory, really.
The media focuses instead on his more...off the chains comments.

Well, people on the right believe that the best outcome for society is achieved when individual rights and civil liberties are paramount and the role - and especially the power - of the government is minimized. Libertarianism / Minarchism and all the ideologies based on Classical Liberalism are on the far-right side.

@@Historia.Magistra.Vitae. Well, my friend, libertarianism overlaps with right wing on the economic, but at the same time with left wing on the social, the only difference between libertarianism and right or left is that the left wants to regulate the economy and the right wants to regulate the social, libertarianism doesn't want to regulate anything, so if there's one party that is actually coherent where it stands is libertarianism, both left and right want to increase the size of the government when it comes to their preferred topics.
Are you going to call him left wing because he stands for social liberties?? (Gay marriage, sex work, drugs,, etc,.)??????
Do you know why he leaves his hair like that? because he believes in the free market, in the invisible hand of the free market as described by the libertarian author adam smith.
Do you know how his dogs are named?

The root problem was always excessive spending and debt. People don't really care if they're economically colonized as long as they live well and in peace. But every government so far spent more than they had and that impacted directly into regular people's lives, and then socialists took the opportunity to blame "the rich" and rise to power again.
If we can put a stop to overspending once and for all, then Argentina might FINALLY escape the crisis cycle.

That was already tried in Argentina...
      1 dollar = 1 peso.
It was a really nice thing for the people and reduced inflation to 0 finally, times were great. But government was still spending more than what they earn, and all that fiscal deficit ended in the next president on 2001 to decide to print money again, remove the peg to the dollar, and made something called "corralito" where all people weren't able to take their own money out from the banks, and people who placed dollars received then pesos after devaluation. It was the worst political and economical crisis in Argentina. That's the reason why we had 5 different presidents in 1 week.

    • @Max_Power_
