That’s a beauty chop saw. I’m a self employed Heating contractor based out of Ontario Canada. Just pulled the trigger on the Milwaukee force logic press tool and mega press jaws. Cannot wait to start using that for all of my installs. I do everything from Garage heaters, boilers, gas lines, commercial boiler room retro fits, water heaters, you name it. Love watching your videos. Plumb on!
Love dads energy Man , After watching your channel you really make me realize how much of a Pain it is to Solder Or thread pipe ... My back/and arms are so worn out from 10 years of threading and tighting black pipe .. Im buying a propress as soon as i can .
I'm not a big fan of the pro press on water but I agree 100% with the mega press on gas, your so right it's so time consuming that it's worth the additional expense. Great video as always! I'm always learning and trying to improve myself and I learn a lot from you.
nice work! just ordered the smaller Ridgid pro press with the C1 close quarters copper press rings and its great for service work that you would not normally be able to get into tight spaces.
You're a brave man putting a self feed bit through vinyl siding. I always popped through the vinyl with the holesaw first. Great videos!!!!! Great crew you've got
I finally got to use pro press for the first time on the job im on right now at a potash mine on copper. gotta say its pretty slick. not sure if im gonna do the whole mechanical room with pro press cause it kicks it on the bigger copper 1&1/2" + but it definitely is good for behind the dry wall. game changer.
Hey Chuck when drilling into that vinyl siding with your self-feed bits put your drill on reverse and let the bit cut the siding first then finish by drilling out your hole. Works every time 100% of da time.........where you at CB2??
I didn't notice you making sure all the joints were fully seated and you should probably drive that point a fair bit more, since pipe to fitting insertion depth is critical for proper seal and clamping
Personal opinion CB, Propress ok for gas, since it's low pressure- inches of water coluom. I wouldn't use Propress on copper water lines where water pressure is 100psi. To each his own.
I'd hate to be the one to change out the commercial water heater, from the video, it looks like it's jammed in that corner. Anyways, I'm still nervous about using press on gas...my father who turned the business over to me 6 years ago, says I have to wait till he's dead (heaven forbid) before I even "think" about using press for gas. lol. But I agree with you Chuck...I don't know what took my so long to get my press tool, we can accomplish much more in an 8 hour work day with that thing.
That joker staying in place and on demand coming when and if it goes. already in the works...ha. dad put it to ya....keep them wrenches loaded son. no pro press hear.....not on his watch. ha
it doesn't look that bad to, but me I've seen worse in hotels and apartment complexes with 4+ in tight rows. bad enough two people can hardly fit to move them. you really have to use your noodles and cheat with leverage :)
With my luck, if I did Mega Press Gas, that building would take off like the space shuttle. Then I would have Vern Odom from Action news sticking a microphone in my face asking me "what happen?" lol Nah for me..I want to wait a bit before I attempt Mega Press for my jobs, and I want to talk to an engineer from Viega first to ease my mind. Yea..Pop cracks me up sometimes...lol
I would have paid extra to have the 2" run high along the wall, and then then branch down instead of this. I know there is the PVC and there was probably a pitch concern of some sort, so your probably in the front anyhow. A few strips of reflective tape will go a long way to prevent tripping hazards.
Headphone wearer's be ready to mute when he touches saw. You have been warned! Kinda neat area to work in up there Chuck. Digging that Mega press. Thanks for posting!
Just got my 614 saw and megapress tool in today. Ridgid needs to put you on the payroll with all this great advertising you're providing. Question: what grain sandpaper are you using? Or does it matter? I was thinking about getting the Ridgid Prep tool, but cant find any legit reviews on it. You think its worth it?
Good job man. Poor plumbers using 2" gal pipe that is insane, lucky for me hete in Australia we dont use gal any more for any thing, eg gas , water we can use pex on gas or water, even pressing copper is slow to running pex. Pex is the real deal. Im assuming you had to do it in gal because that is alot of hard work annd slow. Yes we use to use gal but im talking 40 plus years ago. Keep on plumbing my friend
Time is money I also have 2 pro press tools im going to start doing mega press here in Ma I just b ought the new Milwaukee pro press kit that does 1/2 to 2" love it I had the old 320 ridgid I think. Also not sure if u know u have a Boston Ma telephone number all of Boston and north shore are 617 area code.
Nice on the pro press. I was on youtube 5-7 years ago and saw a test.....a timed fitting cut in pro press vs soldering and it was a wrap for me. Oh snap on the phone number...I will call it today....lol!
I bought a press tool at your recommendation, mostly for domestic copper. Have you used the pro or mega press for steam, diesel or heating oil? I know some of the fittings are rated for it. I was just curious if you've had any field experience.
i have used it on hydronic heating only...no steam or oil.. water is water though. Make sure mega is for water and not gas. them make both. blue or black oring for water and yellow for gas
Chuck I'm back I've been trolling Roger wakefield channel, one thing I can say about you , your a dam good hands on plumber. I don't think Roger has any field experience, that's why I named him the textbook plumber. He showed one of his tools from back in his day's it was new I'm guessing he hasn't used his tool's sense the class room .lol
Ya I have seen roger stuff...seems to me he did a great job marketing, youtube marketing to blow up so fast. he has only been on a year and is killing it with subs.. he has a different side of plumbing. seems to be wanting to set up school of some sort.
i know you said this was an install for another company but how do they get away with the one old package unit under that roof? and im sure one day that roof will be back over all of those units
Love the videos why don't you mark all of your fittings to make sure they are home in the cup of the fittings?? All the propress I do from copper to mega press I mark them. It's crazy you don't mark any of them
Chuck Barron I am a union plumber in Philly. We did a gang toilet room one time and the guys were talking and not paying attention. Well the squeezed up the fittings had 2- 2” tees not all the way home and they leaked. It was a $175 mess up. Love the videos. Keep em coming.
ya know if it were block for sure...since it was siding, plywood and sheetrock inside I said hmmmmm this 2" galv. pipe is stronger than all 3 put together..Plus its covered from the weather. Good eye Plumber.
Ya, I hear ya. Im the same but little by little Im getting soft....I need to upgrade some other stuff but all in time. Im doing my shop at the moment. Tour coming ha.
need to clean the pipe out, just go crank the main on, whoooosh... joking clearly (or am I) I never was one to do things 100% kosher :)) a cordless blower/compressor works pretty good if it's not oily pipe and shaving
I'm yelling NOOOO for the "roofing membrane" @ all the tools banging away on it and especially the pipe banging shown at 16:26 causing roof leaks = bad, the materials are not as tough as many think, even metal shaving being "walked" into it can be bad ;)
came to see sweat dripping and lots of wrenching, how disappointing :)) not any fun threading and wrenching over 3/4" then again, work isn't fun period...

Another satisfied customerrrrrrr. Only critique for you Mr Baron is the 30 ads we have to watch to complete your video. Otherwise enjoy the channel.

Yes sooooooooooooooo slow. I have since purchase the milwaukee carbide cup bit set. Thanks Matt
Nice job Chuck your young bloke is coming on quite well.Love the new drop saw and pipe press. No more stock and dies for you.
Man. its was perfect on roof. thanks T
Never used mega press. Looks like is fun. I'm working on 2" and 3" black iron pipes. Sucks to thread and body takes a beating
game changer...

Kyle, Im having hard time showing my troops how to solder. I rarely do it and I know they need to know it. Its coming. someday. ha

Hey Chuck. Love your videos! What model Rigid chop saw are you using here?
its the 614 chop saw.....joker is beast mode
Thank you brother. Love your videos!

I know there is the PVC and there was probably a pitch concern of some sort, so your probably in the front anyhow. A few strips of reflective tape will go a long way to prevent tripping hazards.
I though about it but it would of been a mother....besides its a mechanical roof for sure.

how much they run u up for a new saw blade for the cutter? I know anything ridged up here is marked up by 40% it feels like at the suppliers
Im not sure. Im thinking pricey if anything like the saw.
Good catch on the shavings
That's why we have drip legs at every appliance. Nice work CB
Yes....Big time on the shavings.....Thanks Craig
Nice video
Thanks Pit

Why galvanized and not black iron?
Along the shore we are required to use galv.
Just saw you are ableto crimp it. Thank fuckin god for that. For a minute i thought you guys where threading that shit.
lol.....me too.
black pipe for gas yes or no
not on roof here....salt air a terror for black pipe. Galv is code outside

actually that entire roof coming down. The hvac guy took it down for fresh air. The rest needs to come down too. Great eye.
Perfect cuts all around
Works nice....
Love the videos why don't you mark all of your fittings to make sure they are home in the cup of the fittings?? All the propress I do from copper to mega press I mark them. It's crazy you don't mark any of them

so much going on with the roofs. I will take notice for sure. Seemed very durable like it was a deck. But great point.
Hate to be "that guy" but eye protection is required when using power tools.
true. a great practice to do all the time
Not too much cranking on those pesky pipewrenches lol
That one connection was the first time I used some 24's in a awhile...I was like dam. Im soft.
Hacks. Mechanical fittings for gas, always. Propress only for water on ball valve, . Sweat the rest.
you call me a hack....your funny....lol. Pro press laughing too.

not any fun threading and wrenching over 3/4" then again, work isn't fun period...
