A government of national unity (GNU) brings together several rival leaders and political parties in order to promote national unity and political stability.
29 May 2024 election results did not produce any outright winner. The African National Congress which governed SA from 1994 to 2024 lost its majority and led the formation of GNU.
Presenter: Dr Kagiso ‘TK’ Pooe (PhD) has worked as a fulltime lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Governance (WSG) teaching, supervising, and leading projects looking into State Owned Entities, Institutional analysis, Development, and Scenario Planning. In addition to his current experience as a senior lecturer at the WSG, he has taught at the North West University (Vanderbijlpark), and run the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Howard College) Public Policy Programme.
Presenter: Mr Mdumiseni Ntuli (MP), is a former member of the ANC Youth League, Ntuli rose to prominence as a member and spokesperson of the Provincial Executive Committee of the KwaZulu-Natal ANC. He also spent a decade working for the ANC as an administrator and organizer at its national headquarters at Luthuli House.
Ntuli was educated at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he became active in student politics. In 2004, while in the third year of his Bachelor of Laws degree, he was president of the student representative council on the university's Pietermaritzburg campus. He holds a Master's in political studies from the university.
He is an ANC NEC and NWC Member, Head of Elections, and ANC Chief Whip in the National Assembly.
