Did 800km on a Pro Tour Race Bike break me? - LOOK 795 Blade RS

  • My week in Mallorca with the LOOK 795 Blade RS, and Viks' TIME Alp D'Huez. Super Stiff, Super Aero, for sure, but can this unconditioned, 45yo bike mechanic handle a Pro Tour bike for 800km?
    We talk about the Corima WC EVO 47 wheels, the GoodYear Eagle F1 tyres, the gear ratios and the bike as a whole. Vik gives her input on the TIME ADH23 and the limitations of her 1x set up on the flat fast roads of Mallorca.
    Last Year I took the 765 Optimum on my holiday and I reflect on how I changed my route choices to suit each bike.

    This 66yo has averaged nearly 300 km per week through the English winter on the Blade that you built for me - rain, potholes, and all. It's the best bike I've ever ridden and has forced me to up my bike handling and cycling ability just to take advantage of its amazing capabilities.

      @Mapdec  4 месяца назад

      Yeah. They are. It comes down to subtle differences in build quality. I am trying to get Simon to do a Digma vs Blade vid. For me the Blade stands out purely in the design of that handlebar.

    • @SandSanta
      @SandSanta 4 месяца назад

      @@Mapdec So I had a lot of road components sitting around, and bought the Mondrain edition of the 795 frame from a supply retailer. Absolutely the easiest bike I've put together as everything nicely fit. Zero walks of shame to my local shop needed.
      I also appreciate that the integrated handlebar, while complex, allows for a swappable stem vs needing an entirely new integrated handlebar/stem combination. Granted, that piece is expensive - but its a nice idea.
      I did a about 40km test ride out here in California and had non cyclists come and comment on the bike - which has never happened with any other frame I've owned.
      The ride and handling is sharp and the descents make me feel like a pro rider though I'm sure I'm not that much faster then I am on any of my other bikes.
      Thank you for the content - would never have thought about this bike otherwise.
