    This has been LONG overdue for someone to create a tutorial on PO.
    Now I know working with vertices is very similar to Blender modeling, but with it in Skylines, its almost a different ballgame because of how the tools work or how the shortcuts etc work since there are no filters like in Blender.
    But my question is, can you align vertices like in Blender? Just watching the video it looks harder than it actually is (because of being overwhelmed with all the blue dots that appear)
    Can you also undo mistakes?
    Can you do a tutorial on how to make a custom bridge using PO assets? maybe would be a good way to use basic shapes to explain the tool itself. The building tutorial is excellent tho, as it gives you an idea of what else you can use it for besides just creating new shapes to create new assets etc.

    • @GaseousStranger
      @GaseousStranger  2 года назад +5

      Yes you can align vertices! It’s on the left menu where you can also find merge vertices, and the option to flatten a selection of vertices. Align vertices can also be very helpful in some instances.
      Great idea with the bridge tutorial. I will definitely make note of that. I plan on releasing more of these tutorials soon with more intermediate topics like that, as well as modules and more features not covered here. Stay tuned!

      And yes, I should have included in the video, but in the general and the customization tool, you can undo any unwanted movements or changes with the command “Control + z”

      @@GaseousStranger I bet cityplannerplays will find that useful. He has avoided PO because there are no tutorials on how to use it. Until now, it's basically been only people experienced in using Blender or the developers that made the mod themselves that know how to take full advantage of it.

      @@NCXDesigns On a recent live stream he said that he was a viewer and recently subbed, so I really hope that he sees this!
      And I absolutely agree - I know for me personally, coming from console to PC, it was a HUGE jump to also learn how PO works. I tried a few other tutorials, but sometimes they seem to make assumptions that you already know 3D modeling. Hopefully I was able break down the basics and give some inspiration for what it can do. As someone who started with no prior knowledge themselves 😂

    There is another way of distorting a building to match the roadlayout. And that is if you press on the "plus" marker, starting from the beginning, you go through the menue to the option "more...", press that, and you will get a small box contatining the option "distortion". With that easy to use, god button, you will only recieve two angle points per corner of the asset, and if you link both the upper point, and the lower point (so they go red), and pull the upper point in the direction you want to stretch your building, it wont distort your fasade by much. Everything is dragged alongside it.

    Good tips! Ive been playing around with making buildings from scratch with PO and mainly using the cube that comes with the program. Now a month later Im completely hooked on the architecture aspect PO can provide, but I havent seen anyone else using PO to create buildings from nothing - have you thought about doing that?

    Troubleshooting Procedural Objects Mod in Cities Skylines (Bullet Points)
    Problems:
    1-) You cannot reuse a building after using the Procedural Objects mod.
    2-) You cannot move other buildings after using the mod.
    3-) You want to be able to reuse the building, but when you click on it, it doesn't look like a hospital, police station, school, etc.

    the best way to use PO is to do it as little as possible. I spent about 9 months last year recreating about 50 houses and buildings, the result is incredible But this game does not deserve so much dedication, at each update becomes more outdated and unstable

    • @GaseousStranger
      @GaseousStranger  Год назад

      Ah you know, I understand and I’m sorry to hear that. This game can be pretty time consuming and a headache to mod. I still find it to be worth the effort, but still totally get where you’re coming from.

    Thanks for the video. One item I did not see covered that I wanted to ask about. Is there a PO option that allows you to mirror a building? For example if there is a mansion with a turret on the left side does a simple PO function exist to mirror the building so the turret is instead on the right side?

    • @GaseousStranger
      @GaseousStranger  2 года назад

      That’s a great question, I don’t know of any simple solution for that at the moment. With the way that vertices function I’m fairly certain it wouldn’t be possible, but I will let you know if I find an answer for that in the future!

    • @pauljarski7977
      @pauljarski7977 2 года назад

      Thanks for the reply. This is a trivial thing to do in Blender with a few hotkeys. PO seems rather robust so perhaps it has some sub function that can mirror but I have not really delved into learning PO yet... with this tutorial though I see it in my future...

    • @GaseousStranger
      @GaseousStranger  2 года назад

      @@pauljarski7977 If you do figure out a solution please let me know! I don’t have the 3D modeling experience so it’s a bit more difficult to figure these things out in my own sometimes. That’s definitely a useful feature I’d take advantage of

    I have a suspicion that procedural objects will come embedded in City Skylines 2 either as a setting toggle or in the object editor. I also think block services will be integrated in. You can already do most of that in the editor but most don't know that.
