Kefka pretty much achieved his goal and destroyed a lot of lives in fact the world is in ruins. kefka level of scheming and manipulation is just on another plane. Certain antagonists of FF10 put a certain world through cycles of endless death over and over for the sake of a religion which is pretty screwed up. Then we got Ultimecia who compressed space and time itself, that itself is pretty big no. However ff8 story is kinda weak at this point so I'll throw that away. Of course that guy from ff15, I'm half half on him because gods screwed him over but at same time he did lot of terrible things. Gods are just at fault for making a monster but Ardyn did manage to cause massive damage before going down. The Remake universe was the one world where Sephiroth wins, which is why the White Materia was empty. I think Sephiroth was tryin to prolong the Remake reality long enough for him to get the black materia. That way he can destroy it without holy to stop him. He would then merge all realities together into Remake.
That… is not why the white materia was empty. Materia is made up of memories and Aerith’s were taken from her by the whispers. THAT is why it was empty…

Sephiroth said it by himself. He also said he underestimated Aerith which probably means it was her plan all along and all she had to do is put her hope in Cloud. Then he tells Cloud that Aerith is no longer alive but he doesn't believe him. He pretty much said it by himself.

There are several shots showing when Cloud was talking back to Sephiroth, there were no tears on his face. He was denying everything Sephiroth said by believing he can actually cry. It's safe to say everything here happened exactly like the OG, however we can only see things from Cloud's pov as he further descends into madness.

It would appear that Cloud did save her, but like with Barritt being "killed" by Jenova-Sephiroth in Remake and the whispers resurrecting him, the fate whispers "corrected" it and forced her death.
Fuckin' whispers man. But, I think they didn't force it, the realities switched. The sword landed away from aerith then it suddenly was covered in her blood. You could say it was Cloud going into full denial but Sephiroth starts talking about the timelines merging. Shes alive but she was also killed.
At some point Sephiroth says that every time someone defies fate, a new world (timeline) is born. So I think in that moment, Cloud created a timeline where Aerith DID survive, but it’s not the one we are playing.

Cloud created a new timeline when he saved her. We're just seeing the events play out in the main timeline. They will be merged and Aerith will be back in part 3. Would be no reason for them to go multiverse and constantly emphasize the theme of defying fate/predestination if the story just ended the same way.
This is what I've been saying, so many people are so obsessed with trying to force it to match the original that they're completely forgetting that this is an entirely new story now! Every gamer/streamer that I've seen that *hadn't* played the original are coming up with better theories than the people who should literally have the better context🥲

For those who aren't satisfied about Cloud crying from Aerith's death, don't worry, I think they are saving the emotional moments in Part 3. Like i imagine the opening of the game would be the impaling scene of Aerith, Cloud saying those words from the og FF7 when she died (it was inaudible here but you can clearly see Cloud saying something to her), and the burial scene on the river. This is only just a tease of what's to come for Part 3, and y'all know they love teasing us lol

I think a big clue to Aerith being saved is Zack literally telling Cloud to save her. When Cloud parried Masamune he created a different world by “breaching the parameters of fate” like Seph explained. In this story Seph clearly wants a different reunion, one of worlds this time, with the death of Aerith in the main world he somehow starts to do just that. Said worlds start merging and he becomes more powerful, seeing as he literally becomes Bizarro Sephiroth at such an “early” point of the OG story. The way I perceive it is that this whole part of the game is Sephiroth’s “plan A” kinda. With us beating him here due to him underestimating Aerith’s power, we stop this plan and we stop the worlds from merging early. Leaving a bunch of worlds to be free, even if they may be ultimately doomed. Which leaves us with a world with a Zack alive and a world with an Aerith alive too. Due to Cloud entering the wall of whispers alone this time in Rebirth, only him is aware of the saved Aerith world, and he even seems to have one foot in one world and one foot in the other. Cloud IS kinda losing it, but its fueled by the whole craziness of different worlds ON TOP of his personality problems and the mind control that Seph + Jenova put him under, its not just all delusions as people seem to be saying. The devs did say that this time Cloud’s breakdown wont just be about him being an unreliable narrator but also about the world itself being unreliable. That to me is the biggest indicator that Aerith is alive and chilling in another world where she most likely went back to the forgotten city to keep praying, in the JP version of the ending Aerith tells cloud to not worry because she’s going to a place thats like a home for cetra, which the forgotten capital matches completely and they also make it sound/seem like said home of the cetra is the lifestream as a form of misdirection too. I think Square Enix is gonna get their cake and eat it too with this Remake project. In the ultimania it was revealed that, I believe it was either Nojima or Kitase that said because this will be the last FF7 project for a LONG while and also prob their last due to their age, they want to give the characters a happy satisfying end in part 3. Nomura also told them to add something that explicitly wasn’t in the OG that would be hard to implement but would make people happy if done right, whatever it is. They have simply leaned in too hard into defying fate and the future not being written, which is a theme that wasn’t so in your face in OG. The end of Remake has the characters seeing scenes of OG and then the party going “it cant end like this/the future is not written yet” they even show them the actual last cutscene of OG with nanaki and his offspring and the party mentions that that is their tomorrow IF they fail to beat the arbiter of fate. And then the party goes on to succeed at beating fate. There’s zero point to the whole ending sequence of part 1 if at least SOMETHING about the ending does not change.
Cloud losing his mind as the rest of the party is there to see what really happened. Were Cloud has been living a lie since the start of the game. Rebirth seems to be a better telling of the events of OG FF7 at this stage of the game. Rather than Remake being very different at a lot of points.
Cloud: “...Shut up. The cycle of nature and your stupid plan don't mean a thing. Aerith is gone. Aerith will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry... or get angry... What about us...what are WE supposed to do? What is this pain? My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!” Sephiroth: “What are you saying? Are you trying to tell me that you have feelings too?” Cloud: “Of course I do! Who do you think I am?!” Sephiroth: “Hahahaha. Stop acting as you were sad. Also, there’s no reason as though you were angry either. Because Cloud, you are.”
If he knows what will happen, why doesn't he go after Tifa instead to prevent her from repairing Cloud's mind later on? By killing Aerith he simply guarantees his defeat, since she retains her sentience in the lifrstream.

God, I’m only up to the end of Chapter 12 (I didn’t watch the video, I paused it before it started) And all of these comments are such a jumbled mess of opinions, I don’t mean that against anyone, I mean that it truly does seem like there are so many interpretations to take. This game is so long, I wanna be confused and sob with everyone else lol.
The biggest hint that Aerith is really gone is Tifa. She can see the lifestream and the living world version of Aerith. She sees Cloud's illusion of her "lack of blood," but her eyes being open are only visible to Cloud cause its a hallucination. The same way he hallucinated Zack out of his memory right after losing him, he's adding Aerith back into his memory.
As much as I like the remakes and 7 is my my favorite Final Fantasy.. There is a lot of nonsense story choices that make it way more confusing than the original ever was.
Wish they’d left this as it was so we could see the funeral and new players could experience it as it was intended. I like a lot of the extra stuff they add but they shouldn’t mess around with the iconic scenes in this way. Real shame.

It would appear that Cloud did save her, but like with Barritt being "killed" by Jenova-Sephiroth in Remake and the whispers resurrecting him, the fate whispers "corrected" it and forced her death.
Fuckin' whispers man. But, I think they didn't force it, the realities switched. The sword landed away from aerith then it suddenly was covered in her blood. You could say it was Cloud going into full denial but Sephiroth starts talking about the timelines merging. Shes alive but she was also killed.
At some point Sephiroth says that every time someone defies fate, a new world (timeline) is born. So I think in that moment, Cloud created a timeline where Aerith DID survive, but it’s not the one we are playing.
@@willowkat27 correct! when we see she survived there's a white filter and then it suddenly cuts to static and it's a green filter to show what happened in the original timeline, just to mess with the audience and show Cloud is in between the two worlds.

Cloud created a new timeline when he saved her. We're just seeing the events play out in the main timeline. They will be merged and Aerith will be back in part 3. Would be no reason for them to go multiverse and constantly emphasize the theme of defying fate/predestination if the story just ended the same way.
This is what I've been saying, so many people are so obsessed with trying to force it to match the original that they're completely forgetting that this is an entirely new story now! Every gamer/streamer that I've seen that *hadn't* played the original are coming up with better theories than the people who should literally have the better context🥲

Idk why ppl say aerith is jenova. Thats silly. We clearly see the rainbow n whenever that happens we know a new timeline is created. Cloud is simultaneously in two timelines. Aerith knows the others cant see her thats why she acts "weird".
@webguy943 because the entire game told us that Jenova can become anyone. And Aerith gave Cloud the black materia. That being said, it’s a matter of when/which Aerith was Jenova.
For those who aren't satisfied about Cloud crying from Aerith's death, don't worry, I think they are saving the emotional moments in Part 3. Like i imagine the opening of the game would be the impaling scene of Aerith, Cloud saying those words from the og FF7 when she died (it was inaudible here but you can clearly see Cloud saying something to her), and the burial scene on the river. This is only just a tease of what's to come for Part 3, and y'all know they love teasing us lol
they didn't show it all because Cloud refuses to accept Aerith's death, she's alive for him lol. And he didnt hear his own words, because he says she will no longer talk and smile and here she talks and smiles to him, he blocked his own pain to think that she is still alife

How many people think that the glitching effect in this whole scene indicates that the timelines are colliding? In one reality, there’s blood, in another there’s none.
I wonder what they did with Aeriths Body? I mean in the OG it is Cloud who puts her in the water but he couldn't have done it this time as he seemingly (?) believes she is still alive.
There are a lot of things Cloud did physically that he can't remember mentally. He still likely set her into the water to he buried.

I think a big clue to Aerith being saved is Zack literally telling Cloud to save her. When Cloud parried Masamune he created a different world by “breaching the parameters of fate” like Seph explained. In this story Seph clearly wants a different reunion, one of worlds this time, with the death of Aerith in the main world he somehow starts to do just that. Said worlds start merging and he becomes more powerful, seeing as he literally becomes Bizarro Sephiroth at such an “early” point of the OG story. The way I perceive it is that this whole part of the game is Sephiroth’s “plan A” kinda. With us beating him here due to him underestimating Aerith’s power, we stop this plan and we stop the worlds from merging early. Leaving a bunch of worlds to be free, even if they may be ultimately doomed. Which leaves us with a world with a Zack alive and a world with an Aerith alive too. Due to Cloud entering the wall of whispers alone this time in Rebirth, only him is aware of the saved Aerith world, and he even seems to have one foot in one world and one foot in the other.
Cloud IS kinda losing it, but its fueled by the whole craziness of different worlds ON TOP of his personality problems and the mind control that Seph + Jenova put him under, its not just all delusions as people seem to be saying. The devs did say that this time Cloud’s breakdown wont just be about him being an unreliable narrator but also about the world itself being unreliable. That to me is the biggest indicator that Aerith is alive and chilling in another world where she most likely went back to the forgotten city to keep praying, in the JP version of the ending Aerith tells cloud to not worry because she’s going to a place thats like a home for cetra, which the forgotten capital matches completely and they also make it sound/seem like said home of the cetra is the lifestream as a form of misdirection too. I think Square Enix is gonna get their cake and eat it too with this Remake project. In the ultimania it was revealed that, I believe it was either Nojima or Kitase that said because this will be the last FF7 project for a LONG while and also prob their last due to their age, they want to give the characters a happy satisfying end in part 3. Nomura also told them to add something that explicitly wasn’t in the OG that would be hard to implement but would make people happy if done right, whatever it is.
They have simply leaned in too hard into defying fate and the future not being written, which is a theme that wasn’t so in your face in OG. The end of Remake has the characters seeing scenes of OG and then the party going “it cant end like this/the future is not written yet” they even show them the actual last cutscene of OG with nanaki and his offspring and the party mentions that that is their tomorrow IF they fail to beat the arbiter of fate. And then the party goes on to succeed at beating fate. There’s zero point to the whole ending sequence of part 1 if at least SOMETHING about the ending does not change.

Cloud losing his mind as the rest of the party is there to see what really happened. Were Cloud has been living a lie since the start of the game. Rebirth seems to be a better telling of the events of OG FF7 at this stage of the game. Rather than Remake being very different at a lot of points.
Cloud: “...Shut up. The cycle of nature and your stupid plan don't mean a thing. Aerith is gone. Aerith will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry... or get angry... What about us...what are WE supposed to do? What is this pain? My fingers are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning!”

If he knows what will happen, why doesn't he go after Tifa instead to prevent her from repairing Cloud's mind later on?
By killing Aerith he simply guarantees his defeat, since she retains her sentience in the lifrstream.

Bugahagan even explains in the OG glowing green means the prayer was successful and the planet heard her. But it’s not green here. It’s white. The biggest hint that Aerith is really gone is Tifa.
She can see the lifestream and the living world version of Aerith. She sees Cloud's illusion of her "lack of blood," but her eyes being open are only visible to Cloud cause its a hallucination. The same way he hallucinated Zack out of his memory right after losing him, he's adding Aerith back into his memory.
She dead also Cloud is losing his mind again. Aerith and Seph really did a number on him.

As much as I like the remakes and 7 is my my favorite Final Fantasy.. There is a lot of nonsense story choices that make it way more confusing than the original ever was.

Wish they’d left this as it was so we could see the funeral and new players could experience it as it was intended. I like a lot of the extra stuff they add but they shouldn’t mess around with the iconic scenes in this way. Real shame.

While I do ship Cloud with Tifa more, it's still obvious that he loved Aerith, too. That love never had to be romantic but it's there either way.

Sorry but no. You’re wrong. Devs not only just confirmed No Promises to Keep is for Cloud written by Aerith, but this is romantic. Cloud. Loves. Aerith. He intertwines his fingers with hers to hold her hand. In Japanese culture this is known as a “koibito tsunagi” or a lovers tie/lovers connection. You can learn to accept the facts as they are or you can continue going on remaining ignorant but there is no love here between these two that is not romantic. I’m sorry but it is.
