About the pencil Blending Thing: First you have to get the color down light and layer the colores. After enough Layers you start to Press heavier so you blend it
I might be wrong but, to me, "trying to find your style" sounds like "trying to find your personality". You just don't do that. You just are your personality. The way you react and think about things around you is what your personality is. Of course you can change it, slowly and through a lot of practice and self-awareness + meditation. Your style is like that. Just like you said, it's just the way you draw, you choose your colors, what you prefer to draw...
You said your art style is like your personality.. So I'm guessing I have a variety of it cuz I can literally draw in a few different art styles 😂😂😂 can't stick with one but I definitely can still go back to it 😂
@@kimaly7718 well, i mean yeah. Your personality isn't going to be constantly the same either (it least it isn't for me). I react and act differently depending on what situation I'm in, and depending on who I'm with, and how i'm feeling, but that doesn't make one any less real than the other. But also, just because you CAN draw in different art styles, doesn't mean that they're all natural for you. Maybe they are, in which case it would still match the personality thing based on what I said. But if they don't all feel natural, the equivalent in personality could be if you are acting one way and are aware that's not how you usually act. Sometimes I do that too, where I'm purposefully more quiet than usual, and I limit my expression (tho I usually do end up doing this when I'm just fed up with everything lol). Anyway, my point is that I think that the comparison with personality makes plenty of sense 😂 Not that I think that you think it doesn't, I'm just saying in case :'D

8:59 okay so while watching your videos i usually draw , and so i was but here i heared that his mother ripped his work, and your reaction was a shook for me , because drawing in my house was a tabou, like it was a waste of time , so i wasnt allowed to draw , i remenber i used to draw in the toilet lmao, but thas was normal to not have the right to draw . now i live alone since am 17 and since then i "started" to draw like non-stop. im 19 now . also they never ripped my work but if they saw one by mistake they used to tell me that it's so bad i heve no futur in tda game . i mean even now i'm really bad at art ,since i started drawing so late and they got a point here, but i cant get that passion out of my mind, like i genuienly tried i just can"t, plus i kinda developed an obsession over drawing and i cant stop comparing my art skill to other people my age and crying over every little good artwork other people make and blablablalbalba . but is it that shocking having non-supportive parents? i mean I have to draw in secret for my whole life, and for sure i suffered and still suffer from that , but I think a lot of people have non-supportive parents, like the majority of artists, or is it something i believed in to not pick up a war with my parents ( i love them, they are sweet, it just when it comes to art they get a bit mad )
It's not shocking, but the script of that tiktok was plagiarized from an old inspirational video on RUclips, kinda like Dhar Mann's stuff. I've seen the video myself and another commenter said something similar a year before I did. I wish you the best of luck in your art 🥺
5:30 Actually, pressing the colored pencils as hard as you can does make it worse for blending. It's better if you lightly press them onto the paper and slowly blend them together. (im not an expert, but this is what my friend told me)
7:40 reminds me a lot of my dad. When I was younger and someone came over I would be so excited to show them some of my artwork. My dad though though it was a waste of time and eventually grew tired of this and threw away my binder I had filled with art I’ve done over some time and it was really disheartening. Though I never gave up and here I am today. My parents have grown to appreciate my passion as well and not just see it as waste of time
5:37 NO NO. You don’t have to press too hard until the end of your drawing to give like the ✨effect✨(burnishing I mean)if you press too hard in the starting of your drawing you can’t add more layers cause the roughness of the paper is flattened. DONT YOU EVER PRESS TOO HARD IN THE BEGINNING OF YOUR DRAWING
At 3:35 I actually hold my pencil like that, but in between my middle finger and ring finger. I’ve never found the normalized grip to be comfortable lol.
When i am asking someone for a feedback, they always tell me to change my style, telling me that 'you should focus on realism' or 'why do you draw like that?' and i remember having to quit art because of that, piece of advice for those persons who has an artistic friend, tell them what things they can improve or correct about their piece and don't try to change their skills based on you liking, if you can't, just support them
Yeah I got sick of the "change your art style" advices (if we can call it that) because it feels more like a personal gripe the person has with your art. Practicing realism is good advice, but only if the person who asked for feedback NEVER done that. If they're already in the process, you should just tell the specific body part to focus on improving instead.
I feel that's the advice of either beginners or like people who don't keep an open mind or they are not in art. That is a very baseless advice, and I hate whenever they give out these kinda advice to art babies because that does nothing except discourage them
With colored pencil you have to build the layers slowly over time. If you press hard off the jump you burnish the paper... meaning you mash it flat and it makes it smooth so it doesnt hold pigment as well. This makes it harder to further blend and often leads to those little white specs that you cant fill in. If you want it to blend smoothly, she was right about that being a terrible tip.
2:40 Da Vincis one is true I don’t know about the rest but when he was painting Mona Lisa he procrastinated so much that he had to redo the face because she was so angry at him that she wasn’t smiling anymore and she had quite the short temper, in the end it worked out and yeah
3:05 not even like art wise but just the way I started writing as a kid I have it resting on my ring finger (I've been told off for it occasionally) so I guess its really whats most comfortable for you, I still get the occasional wrist problem but probably not as much as others. Also yes this does help my hand relax a bit but it also has a few downsides
Monet actually did much more than “trace his drawings” he used a lengthy process to essentially copy the drawing using a mechanism that he invented. I recommend watching “Tim’s Vermeer” it is sooo interesting man. Trust me it’s so good.
Facts about artists: *da Vinci* (and many other famous artists) used Camera obscura's and Camera lucida's as drawing aids. They both project light on to a surface. They physically traced a 1:1 projection for their sketches. Ever wondered why art of Napoleons exhibition of Egypt is so accurate and realistic? Because a Camera Lucida was used to project a 1:1 image onto a drawing medium. Tracing is not cheating. It is a fundamental foundation of art.
9:12 that’s exactly why I never say practice makes perfect I say practice makes experienced it’s just a better mindset cause you get the idea of perfect out of your head
I think most of us suffer from being perfectionists 😅 and can be so self critical.... hearing Sam say "not every single line and mark has to be perfect" and "as long as things work together in the grand scheme of things", is healing... 🌻🌻💚
The tip regarding pen grip at the start of the video, I actually tried it for writing rather than drawing, and it actually helps to reduce hand pain after a prolonged period of writing. But of course, I had to sacrifice good handwriting lol.
5:35 no, using color pencils lightly helps to blend better as transitions are smoother also as shown in that vid when applying too much pressure the transition is abrupt and not natural
7:00 yes. I tried forcing myself into the alt style of art because that's my style of dressing, I tried doing it, but it felt hard even though it's a somewhat simpler style of art than a large portion of the art styles (for a lot of people ig?) and I kept naturally drawing more anime but still with a dark aura or negative emotion but still pretty and not scary- well for people older than 4 lol. Can somebody tell me why it seemed/felt hard when it's so easy for a lot of people, including me?
One of the most inspiring things i have ever seen was when i went to a museum to see some paintings by john singer sargent and there was this beautiful painting of a lady with a parasol and there were still pencil sketches on it. it made me remember that not every drawing has to seem "finished" to look amazing.
4:08 Omg that tip is saving me I struggle currently with my wrists, I hurt them because I overused them. I noticed I have a very strong grip on my pen every time and I cannot get rid of it!! once I actually used the other grip I felt immediately relief, I’ll try it out and see if it actually works better I wish ppl would’ve told me before that the grip and way you move is important 😓😓😓
5:30 You actually want to start EXTREMELY light, and then you want to slowly blend the colors in, to kinda merge them. You don't want to start them off hard because then no other colors can influence them, so you just have more of two blocks of colors next to each other. This is why colored pencil drawings take so long, because every time you blend a section, it can take 10-30 minutes. 😊
I remember my mom would throw away my art if she found out I did it during class, she never tore it though. Now that I think about it, she may have done that on purpose so I could later get it back from the trash bin. Also, thanks for making these vids, they are super inspiring and have helped me want to work on digital art more.
the background music makes me feel so welcomed somehow and the way he talks makes it seem like he is a super cool art teacher that can relate to the students
This dude, this person, sam does art, always make me have motivation to draw whenever this kinds of videos show up- not just rating art tiktoks but other videos too MY FINGERS ARE TINGLING TO DRAW
One of the best tips I heard is to Observe everything you can, Alot of the information we need to draw something comes from observation, Not just understanding how physics, nature, anatomy works, but to actually observe the form and shape of it.
My art teacher in high school taught something like this except he taught it in a completely different manner. He would assign lessons and if he saw people that were naturally able to complete the task in a short amount of time he would push them to go above and beyond for more detail and a better piece. He wanted them to improve with their work. Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you shouldn't strive to improve. 9:02
Thank you, Sam. Because I'm such a perfectionist myself, I always struggle to finish something on time or sometimes I can't finish a piece because I keep adjusting it.
when you talked about being a perfectionist in your past art i thought about a specific stroke on the neck of your most recent piece's character that i loved. i just love seeing the strokes on your art idk what's wrong with me
I have been drawing for 5 years and just now I'm finding my personal style. I never cared about it and I just "went with the flow", trying to get better, changing things I didn't like about my drawings and adding things I liked about other drawings (mainly eyes). Now I love the style, I just need to practice it more :)
YUCK, the ripping pictures one feels horrible. I get where he's coming from, but imagine being an art baby and watch this and grow up with this mindset... The damage done, ugh...

ok but let's not mix up art with design
there are a lot of areas where both a designer and an artist should be able to deliver a product (digital or analog) that the client is going to be satisfied with.
such as: banner design, poster design, website illustrations, paintings for the office etc.
but design is more than art being "geometrified" and turned into a product. it does not only focus on visual appeal, psychology and colors but also partially on marketing, user experience and understanding and offering what the clients (of the person who hired the designer) are looking for
so yeah brand identity is definitely something a business owner should not neglect but also know who he needs for what

Facts about artists:
*da Vinci* (and many other famous artists) used Camera obscura's and Camera lucida's as drawing aids.
8:01 They have such similar hairstyles
I think I actually shed a tear on the art style part I’ve been trying to find my art style and this helped me a lot thank you!
I think most of us suffer from being perfectionists 😅 and can be so self critical.... hearing Sam say "not every single line and mark has to be perfect" and "as long as things work together in the grand scheme of things", is healing... 🌻🌻💚
3:34 the face of utter confusion-
"Like the waves in the ocean" 🥶 you give us the best tips!😁
Sam's bass voice at 13:36 when he says "lows" omg
5:42 fr the best advice at least for me
3:09 it really works for me! and it didn't take as long as 3 months lolol, more like one minute, so it didn't fall out.
The tip regarding pen grip at the start of the video, I actually tried it for writing rather than drawing, and it actually helps to reduce hand pain after a prolonged period of writing. But of course, I had to sacrifice good handwriting lol.
I don't know why but watching your videos soothes my soul
Sam: "Pretend your pen is alive"
Me pen: *Disconnects*
Me: Is it so wrong to wanna strangle it even more?
12:37 the song, the expression, just fits so well!
When I have an artblock or having a bad day , this freakin guy comes in and make it all better
You're inspiring
For blend colored pencils, you have to press lighter first then go darker.
6:24 really called me out like that
5:35 no, using color pencils lightly helps to blend better as transitions are smoother also as shown in that vid when applying too much pressure the transition is abrupt and not natural
9:04 its about drive
It's about power

3:28 That hand grip is actually how I learned to write
The intro about the hand grip , my hand felt that its gonna be more painful than my usual posture without me even trying
amazingly, in 6:07 in the video, I realized that the first drawing you make doesn't have to perfect. And I always wanted it to be perfect.
4:59 YOUR DONE YOUR DONE
Can somebody tell me why it seemed/felt hard when it's so easy for a lot of people, including me?
sam is basically our art dad...we love you
One of the most inspiring things i have ever seen was when i went to a museum to see some paintings by john singer sargent and there was this beautiful painting of a lady with a parasol and there were still pencil sketches on it. it made me remember that not every drawing has to seem "finished" to look amazing.
2:19 sinix design made a good video abt that called drawing like a painter i think
4:08 Omg that tip is saving me
I struggle currently with my wrists, I hurt them because I overused them. I noticed I have a very strong grip on my pen every time and I cannot get rid of it!! once I actually used the other grip I felt immediately relief, I’ll try it out and see if it actually works better
I wish ppl would’ve told me before that the grip and way you move is important 😓😓😓
8:37 - Yes it's BS but it ain't easy so we just go with the flow
5:30
You actually want to start EXTREMELY light, and then you want to slowly blend the colors in, to kinda merge them. You don't want to start them off hard because then no other colors can influence them, so you just have more of two blocks of colors next to each other. This is why colored pencil drawings take so long, because every time you blend a section, it can take 10-30 minutes. 😊
I really like you explaining some of this tiktok art tips clearly to us, so we art baby don't stray in the wrong path.
14:54 yas, u got talent in ryhming too sam
hi. im an 11 year old artist. your vids helped me a lot. thanks.
WE LOVE THIS VIDEO LORD MASTER SAM!
very good my fellow cultist
@@samdoesarts we are the cult of GOD LORD SAM THE MEGA ULTIMATE ULTRA BEING 🙏🏽
I remember my mom would throw away my art if she found out I did it during class, she never tore it though. Now that I think about it, she may have done that on purpose so I could later get it back from the trash bin. Also, thanks for making these vids, they are super inspiring and have helped me want to work on digital art more.
that is toxic damn
the hand grip actually made me so much better.
And thank you sam for making videos i love them.

One of the best tips I heard is to Observe everything you can, Alot of the information we need to draw something comes from observation, Not just understanding how physics, nature, anatomy works, but to actually observe the form and shape of it.
Sam, we want to see you painting in traditional, following one of Bob Ross's tutorials, we need it in our lives ✨
HIS FACE IN THE BEGINNING OUT OF CONTEXT- I'M DEAD- ThE fIlTeR mAdE mE lAuGh So HaRd
Thank you, Sam. Because I'm such a perfectionist myself, I always struggle to finish something on time or sometimes I can't finish a piece because I keep adjusting it.
i learnt so much for my art with your tips!
when you talked about being a perfectionist in your past art i thought about a specific stroke on the neck of your most recent piece's character that i loved. i just love seeing the strokes on your art idk what's wrong with me
I always have a smile on my face whenever i watch his videos 😁😊
I have been drawing for 5 years and just now I'm finding my personal style. I never cared about it and I just "went with the flow", trying to get better, changing things I didn't like about my drawings and adding things I liked about other drawings (mainly eyes). Now I love the style, I just need to practice it more :)
YUCK, the ripping pictures one feels horrible. I get where he's coming from, but imagine being an art baby and watch this and grow up with this mindset... The damage done, ugh...
I just started the series last night and you drop another episode, great timing
Is nobody gonna talk about the amazing pineapple decor in the background 😆✨👍
I'm not an artist but i love watching Sam's videos and it's so satisfying
