It’s a big American culture thing. Another thing that I notice about Americans is having bacon in their breakfast culture. For some reason it’s so important while in other cultures it doesn’t have a high priority

@@harlanjackson6112 Culture as in food culture. As a non American I observe a lot of food cultures. One observation from American ex pats moving to other countries is that many of them seem to need to have bacon in their food pantry. Bacon is definitely a big deal in American food culture. Many Americans would not be able to go without bacon for a year in comparison to people from other continents

From what I've seen that seems to be a mixed bag in that some conservatives are defending her and some are condemning her. At least some of them have dogs that they actually care about and couldn't imagine killing their own dog for behavior issues. That should be a last resort when all else fails but it's her default it seems.
This tells you exactly what is going thru her pea-brain every time someone disagrees with her.

I have a Cairn Terrier (hunting dog)who would act the same way. He goes nuts over any animal and immediately kills it, and was aggressive when I tried to take a bunny away from him. Simple answer; I just keep him away from all other animals and keep him on a leash or in our yard. I knew that he was a hunting dog when I got him and the female. He just turned 16, so no, I never shot him in the face!
My terrier was a pup for at least 5 years & we always had him on a leash! He’s 14 now & an excellent boy!

Exactly! I had my pup on a leash for the 5 years until he actually settled down to listen. He is 14 & stays next to me with the leash ready in my hand if we get close to people & other animals!

Let's give Noem credit - she managed to unit the right left and center of America on an issue for the first time in a long time. We love our dogs here, as we should. They are special creatures. There is no way she can spin her way out of this due to the dogs age, the fact she didn't bother bringing it to a professional dog trainer, or just give it up for adoption. Plenty of people would have loved to make a home for a young wire hair. More over so many Americans have or had a dog her reasons do no resonate with anyone just from experience. Very few people have to put down a dog for behavior issues and when then have the dog has been like that for years and years, has went through trainers, and has a repeat history and even then people get them put down humanly by a vet and not look it in the eyes and blast it in the face.

Vets would NOT put a puppy down that’s not ill or rabid😳 ! Not all areas have vets (they are in short supply & expensive)! Putting an ailing old dog out of its misery is what vets will do.
