I also watch Pokimane, the shark girls, Bunny Girl with Carrot and Ironmouse - I may have fallen inside the VTuber rabbit hole and can’t get out

I've just recently found myself getting into the indie vtuber scene and my favorite ones aren't generally streamers! There's starting to be more and more vtubers tackling different media in different ways (video essays, character design, etc.), and im excited to see where else people go with it! I myself am dabbling in making a vtuber to advertise my future dicemaking endeavors ✨️

(claps) Also you don't need to stream to be a VTuber. When Kizuna AI first started (the woman that coined the term) she did uploads too. It was something close to a year before she did ANY streaming. The only reason VTubers stream at all has to do with money. Streaming can potentially be more lucrative, but not always. It also has other benefits in terms of fostering a tighter community. You can stream with a PNG - A lot of times when VTubers collaborate to play a game like UNO or Gartic Phone, in order to reduce load on the other computers they'll share special PNG's that will highlight when they talk, or will switch between two different images, or are just animated GIF's.
