Awesome work you do. I purchased the 1000 mm X-Carve about a year and a half ago to aide my son's business. He specializes in aluminum welding and fabrication. I haven't done a lot of projects yet, but not larger ones than my machine is capable of without the tiling. This helps a lot. Of course I'm a slow learner, so I'll be watching this video several more times for sure. I have a lot of larger projects I want to do. Thank you.
Couldn’t have done it without you, you have given me more information that many videos I have viewed. Everything video you have done on your CNC has taught me plenty. This is one good information that I can add to my knowledge base, thank you.
Appreciate the level of detail here, especially the machine setup settings. I'm not doing carves like this yet ... Doing kumiko, Asa no ha projects, but this is still very useful to see the process and machine setups. Actually, I'm not seeing any other sources that are this good. Just putting that out there. Just excellent. I would be interested to see projects that have a range of depths, for example, like some Native American animal carvings that have different depths. Not sure how that would be accomplished, but an area of interest.
I'm interested in seeing how you are fastening the letters to the backer board. I enjoy your videos. You've got some of the best X-Carve tutorials on RUclips. I would be interested in more Videos on this.
Can you please make a video on cutting something on the machine that is larger than the work area?(for example cutting a sign and then flipping at 180° and then finishing the cut.) I tried an easel but every time I flip the sign and go back to the original zero spot, it always is a little shifted. I’m not sure if that is easel or if it’s my error. Could you please try it
Tiling is a whole different challenge. I have many of these signs to make. I will be experimenting with different types of registration. Too much detail to be off. Thank you very much.
Hello Paw Paw. great videos and information. was wondering, why the x-carve and not one of the other brands? your videos have peaked my interest in getting a cnc machine and was wondering which machine is best for hobby/micro business possibilities. thanks.
CNC machines are great. Inventables XCarve is a great beginner CNC and is excellent for the hobbiest. My other machine is the CNC4newbie New Carve. This is a much stronger machine and can easily be run as a small business machine. You can use Easel software for both but you will most likely out grow it quickly and then you can upgrade to something like VCarve Pro.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thanks for the reply. would like to get the Xcarve or the Shapeoko and then a stiffer frame. seems as though you cannot go wrong with either machine.
Good information in the video. I’ve been following you for about three weeks now as I have just purchased a x carve 1000:(boxes arrived today) so trying to Learn as much as I can. Not sure if it was just me or was there some audio difficulties going on? Kinda threw me me off a couple of times. Keep them coming! Thanks. Edit: I went back and watched again and there are two voices at the same time around the 18 min and 21 min marks.
Congratulations! Thank you very much for following my channel. I have many videos to help you get started. Tiling is a little advanced but is fun to do.
These look even better in person. I’ll send pics of them completed, or if you’d like to make a video of the shop when it’s finished, that would be awesome also!
That's awesome. I can't wait to see the finished pictures. Yes, I would love to video the shop when it is done. Ninja Turtles is almost ready to carve. It was very difficult to prepare but I think it will be great.
Thank you very much. I have shown three various ways to do the tiling in the videos. I am afraid it would get boring if I continued to do these on RUclips. To date, off camera, I have done about twelve of these comic signs.
Great trick with easel! I didn’t even know it was possible to cut a piece larger than the workspace. Only question I have is why did you choose not to use tabs on the letters?
Thank you very much. The tabs were an accident. I checked no tabs, however, there were several items that did not get selected thus the tabs were still there.
I'm a beginner, but I found I don't like cutting out the tabs after the carves and so I try to avoid using them. It's easy to make mistakes cutting out the tabs and it's not worth the risk.
Great video - Thank you for all the tips. I would like to see a tiling video involving the American flag. I am planning on making a 2 x 4 foot carved flag.
Use the tips that I show in these fanart videos. The American flag will be easy because the union can be in one section and all the other sections just consist of long lines to form the stripes. Run is along the y axis for the stripes.
Awesome job. I’m new to the CNC world and have been watching videos constantly. Very nice job describing all steps in your videos. Wondering though, the tape you use, is it just your regular blue painters tape? Thanks
Thank you very much. These projects are finished. I have done three for RUclips and did eleven all total. If you have specific questions, I will try and answer them for you.
@@PawPawsWorkShop yes I have I just don't understand how to highlight the image paw paw and I'm trying to make a 14" x 42" sign on a 1000mm table using easel pro. I can't figure it out. Is there a way I can send you the file and you can set it up for me so I can see what you did?
I assume you are using Easel. Share the file on the forum as a Private Message to me. I'll take a look at it and set up individual workpieces showing the steps.
This is cool but I don’t have any need for this but what I been trying to find is how to build a bookcase Twin size bed because I need to make a bed frame for my kids
Lol, six years ago I could hardly turn on the CNC machine let alone design anything. I learned by trial and error. Back then there was little help available. Each project was a new challenge. I started this channel to help others avoid the frustration that I experienced in the beginning. Even today I continue to push the envelope and experiment. Yes, there are still many failures. I bring to you the lessons learned so that your learning curve is much less.

Very top art, please which font of the letters was used in the project?
This was pulled directly from Google search free clipart
How do you seal the MDF before painting. Can you make a video on that?
Seal it first with shellac, then paint is the easiest way. Yes, I will do a video on painting MDF.
I know I'm late, but I love this kind of videos!
Awesome, thank you very much for watching. I do have a complete Fan Art playlist showing several of these
Thank you, I will try your method from now on. I have destroyed two test pieces trying to get tiling right on my machine.
Good luck with it and please let me know how it worked for you.

I cut some .5 inch blocks that are .75 inches wide and 1.0 inches long. That way the customer can choose how high he wants the raised letters.
The X Carve is something I'm really interested in so this video was helpful and I liked it and the signs!
Thank you very much.

This is a tiling operation. You do not flip it 180 degrees. You move it along the Y axis to a new point and continue the carve.
Will that work with an engraved sign? And is it the most accurate way?
As always nice video Phil, Everything I have made and I still have not had the need to tile yet!

This is amazing. I have to do a sign that’s 8 ft long but I don’t think I’ll be able to figure out the tiling portion of it.

Paw paw, where are u doing you lettering at? I’m going to make an attempt at creating something with your teachings
I think that is great that you are going to something similar. Not sure I understand the question
Paw Paw’s WorkShop I tried to make the style lettering on easel but couldn’t quite duplicate the style
Juan Salmeron I’m pretty sure he imported some clip art for the text, you will have to do a search for what your looking for.
thanks for the video. I would like to see more

Seal the MDF first with sanding sealer or shellac.

Great. Thank you very much.
Woo Good 👍👍👍👌☺️
Awesome
When you do tiling are your numbers always the same for every project
No, I try to find a easy area with just a few lines as possible and parallel with the y axis.
@@PawPawsWorkShop ok so I might be doing it right so the formula is the same it’s the numbers that change
Yes, as long as the number is the same in the computer and on the cnc machine it will work. They must match.
@@PawPawsWorkShop thank you paw paw
Like to see he tiling with positive stops. Like pegs or dowels.
I tried the dowels and I was able to get more accurate with the method that I showed in the video.

This is a good subject and not many vid on tiling with easel. My biggest hurtle is Inkscape. Great info
Thank you. I do have plans to do a video on a king size bed with built in end tables.
Seems like some audio problems in this last video.
I did some normal recording and then I did some voice over. The sound is quite a bit different. Thank you
