- In this video I will share with you what items I carry in my possibles pouch. All those small items I don't want to loose in the bottom of my rucksack. I also do a first impressions review of my new Baribal tactical medical pouch. I hope you find it useful. thanks for watching.
Some people scoff at the foil blanket but one of those saved me and my hiking companion from hypothermia when caught in a sudden thunderstorm on the Appalachian Trail. We were cold, exhausted, and not thinking clearly, but I pulled it out of my hip pouch and wrapped it around us until we were warmer. Then I cut it in half and made two ponchos with vine belts to keep us warm and relatively dry until we reached camp a few hours later. I NEVER hike or camp without one!

I like the term 'possibles' better than EDC. Mine weighs just over a kg. Drops into the bottom of my handbag. It's two pouches actually - an old red make-up bag and an old money belt with the loops cut off and the cut edges sealed. Knife, check. Hand sanitiser, check. Toilet tissue, check, sewing kit, check, phone/headlight, check (I designed a head harness for it). Firestarting kit, check. Cordage, check. Some medical stuff, check. Mirror in small lipstick case, check. Tweezers (2 prs) check. Antibacterial wipes, check. Plasters, check, burn dressing, check. Pain meds, check. Wound healing cream, check. Mylocort, check. Diahorrea meds check. And I USE this stuff!

I just got my EDC kit from Baribal in the mail today. Took about 3 months to arrive. I ordered the kit in orange for easy visibility. It holds quite a bit. Thanks for the review on great piece of gear.

+Nightwalker527 - Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Mine varies a bit depending on what I'm doing, but goes with me when out doing stuff in the outdoors. I don't take it to work with me or anything like that, so I suppose EDC is a bit inaccurate in that sense. Atb, Simon.
Thanks for sharing. Always nice to see what other people carry and deem essential. Definitely agree with having a head torch to just putter around camp and a decent high-powered torch for illuminating things at a distance - the "Head lamp or flashlight" arguments usually make me chuckle because, as far as I'm concerned, the answer is "BOTH!" Mine both run on 18650 Li-Ion batteries, which means I don't have to carry 14 different types of battery as spares.

I like that your a gear head! I am as well, and love the small tactical pouches. I keep on in each car, and take them with me whenever im in the woods, there always ready to go...
They make keeping your stuff organised so easy - plus you can see straight away if anything is missing from its place. 👍 cheers!

I stumbled upon your videos while researching survival tips and now I'm addicted to your channel! Really fun, useful content and I love watching you and Maggie. Speaking of... would you do a tutorial on the tick remover? I have a golden retriever/labrador/great dane and while his fur is perfect instant tinder (one hand sweep of his back and you get a handful), it's also very hard to find ticks and remove them. Flea & tick prevention tablets may kill the parasites in a couple days, but really unsightly and uncomfortable for him when they crawl and bite. Thanks in advance!

The tick remover is really easy to use - hook under the tick and twist gently, removes all the tick complete. 👍

Hi Simon. Nice video. Especially nice to see the Victorinox card. I've a pink one in my handbag which is at least 15 years old. I use the scissors most. Great little pack you have there. Keep up the good work!

there's a myriad molle pouches like this on amazon, some chinese, and the ones i've had are decent enough quality for good cheaper prices.
i use one, with a rifle sling as a tactical 'man-bag', great for summer when i'm in shorts and wanna carry my phone and wallet and a few odds and sods.
That is a nice thought out kit Simon...I;m a Throw and Go kind of guy...throw everything in a bag, throw it on my back and go...lol
actually i think your kit is quite comprehensive compared to some iv'e seen...thanks for sharing...attb...woods

Some good tips there Simon. I liked that victorinox card knife holder - very neat. The snare reminds me of when my dad showed my brother and I how to set them up many years ago. He instructed us to always get rid of human sent. Good video. All the best there. Mark
Wye Explorer - Thanks Mark. It’s one of my earlier videos and a bit crudely edited hahaha - I didn’t really do that beautiful bit of woodland justice! I’ll revisit that spot next year and try to capture the beauty a bit more. That victorinox card is great - it was a Christmas gift from my daughter, and it gets lots of use - the tweezers especially, but it’s also really useful having a small pair of scissors with me. Well, I say kid - she’s all grown up now - but she’s got an adventurous spirit - she used to accompany me on trips into the wild, has climbed all 13 Welsh 3000ers with me and we cycled across the country from Lowestoft to St David’s by tandem when she was only 11! She makes me very proud! I’ve got an image in my head of your dad getting you to remove you human scent - it wasn’t with dung was it!? Lol!

+Danny Walker -Cheers Danny, although the pouch is new, the boys and pieces in the kit I've mostly had for years, items get upgraded and replaced from time to time, but it's pretty much the same. I used to keep it in a small dry bag, with a separate one for my med kit. Love the new pouch though! Atb, Simon.

Just got my pouch, website played up a bit when ordering but the pouch is fantastic. Beautifully made.
Slightly different to the one you have. Few extra bits added internally. Extra loops and a clip for keys or whatever. Biggest difference is the back. It’s still got molle loops but the whole back is Velcro and detachable if you don’t want the molle option.
Still trying to figure out what the two small straps that came with it are for though.
Will be looking at the rest of their range!

That is a well put together kit, only thing i would change is an extendable billow but ive never used one so idk if it would b better. Anyone ever asks me what they should put in a kit im directing them to this video

I carry some Benadryl and anti diarrhea pills in my first aid kit as well as some painkillers.
Always good to be prepared! My med kit varies a bit, depending on what I’m doing and where I’m going - I do sometimes pack antihistamines too. Cheers, Simon
It's called Imodium in America and Loperamide here in South Africa. I carry a packet. Also Rehidrat which is ORT.
Nice bag. I'm always looking to improve my international travel bag to keep my valuable,in addition to my day pack, while traveling long distance. Do you have a video on th that? I found a few on Amazon, the hip bag (for bike rides) seems to be very handy, better than the ugly fanny pack.
Since you like to customize your bags, have you been to FEZ, Morocco? They have leather experts working in the shop. They were able to made minor changes to their bags for me on the spot to make it more functional.

Is it legal to snare in the U.K.? Here in the US (land of the brave, home of the not so free) snaring is illegal in most states. A sad state of affairs in my opinion. I wondered because you said that the packet was unopened, yet you continue to carry it.
Hi James, it is illegal to snare here too, as it is to hunt with a bow or crossbow - it seems the old ways are not acceptable any more! I carry the snare wire as emergency wire/binding more than anything really - in an emergency it would certainly be put to it’s intended use and I’d be more than happy to answer for my actions once I’m out of the situation haha! Here in Indiana (US) snaring of small game is legal on private property with the property owners permission during the appropriate hunting or trapping season. Trapping requires you to buy a trapping license. Use of snares is not allowed in State Parks.

You need a new microphone, or to place it a lot better. I literally had my tv on FULL volume and couldn't hear a word you were saying. This isn't the first time either.
