Honestly I like this format. It shows which players have ability using the ball and goalkeepers that have chance to block the goal Also do not say this is easy because we have seen easy failed goals and without goalkeepers a lot of time and sometimes of those "Prestigious" players. One big example how Torres failed that open goal with Chelsea vs Manchester United.
I don’t understand why people are shitting on this idea. Football is about agility, ability to dribble, and precision of a shot. This style of shootout incorporates all those aspects of football, while also giving the keeper the chance to display his goalkeeping skills; being a goalkeeper means more than just standing in place and diving in a direction. This style makes it so the more skillful player succeeds, rather than leaving it up to chance as 90% of penalties involve the keeper trying to GUESS where to dive and hoping that the ball is going in his direction of the dive. It also makes the penalties more exciting to watch. Everyone making fun of this for being a dumb American idea only dismiss it because it is an American idea and don’t want to admit that, for once, the U.S. came up with a good idea for football.
These types of penalties are much fairer than the traditional ones, these allow keepers to use more of their skills rather than guessing left or right,
This is fun. Would be cool to see stuff like this in a football equivalent of an All Star Weekend. Like with the NBA they have these fun challenges to see world class players do skills or shootouts. No reason why we can't have a FIFA version of that.
To be honest, this is much better than penalties. It makes it much more fair to the goalkeeper and really amps up the excitement. I wish this would come back in the playoffs. In fact this is a better system for the world instead of penalties. I'm not saying we should bring it back to the extent it was used, but I think that it should be there.

back in the days before MLS took itself way too seriously
You’d rather go back to this ? This is even more laughable than the league is now
@@TwofourA that's my whole point. MLS from the beginning was always going to be goofy but they should have just leaned into it.
now the league has no fucking identity. every other team is named FC this or City that which makes no fucking sense
@@skippythealien9627 Each to their own but what you said is also ridiculous
@@TwofourA i'd rather be ridiculous than have no personality...like MLS
Reason why MLS changed the rules was because other leagues saw it as "weird" and almost entirely a diffeent sport
This looks like it’s some sort of a 1 on 1 drill, but it still looks pretty interesting
Brazilian Ronaldo is like omg that's so easy
BRING OT BACK
Honestly I like this format.
It shows which players have ability using the ball and goalkeepers that have chance to block the goal
Also do not say this is easy because we have seen easy failed goals and without goalkeepers a lot of time and sometimes of those "Prestigious" players. One big example how Torres failed that open goal with Chelsea vs Manchester United.
this is a definition of legit ridiculousness, kids
He did one of these penalties than he did a normal one? Why not just a normal penalty in the first place
These types of penalties are much fairer than the traditional ones, these allow keepers to use more of their skills rather than guessing left or right,
It's not about fair it's about mental games.
Lee, exactly
Ha! I had no idea this went on in mls pre '99! Looks a lot of fun!
MLS used to be really freaking weird. Shootouts, Overtime, Clock Counted Down.
We do this in indoor but we have 5 seconds to score
A penalty within a shootout, twice the fun fucking brilliant!
this is extremely hard to watch...
MLS has come a long way. This was sooooo lame
My eyes are sore from watching this horror show. Thank God Europeans and co. never went with this load of BS
Looks kinda fun tbh

This is why you don’t make the World Cup
They made years before this video. 1994.
@Wiil Mudug they made it every year since then minus last year
And that's why Union Berlin sucks
football is a completely underrated game
who underrated it? football stars get $$$$$$
This is amazing! It actually gives the goalie a chance to save the ball unlike the classic penalty shootout
lol
Yes because goalkeepers never save penalties. ESPECIALLY in the world cup but you guys werent watching that were you
This is fun. Would be cool to see stuff like this in a football equivalent of an All Star Weekend. Like with the NBA they have these fun challenges to see world class players do skills or shootouts. No reason why we can't have a FIFA version of that.
Van Basten actually wants this to be a thing again here in Europe :D
dumbass idea
also take away the offside rule to allow more goals
i bet he doesn't know how to tell girl whens offside and that's the reason
so as messi
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 what's the name of this sport ?
To be honest, this is much better than penalties. It makes it much more fair to the goalkeeper and really amps up the excitement. I wish this would come back in the playoffs. In fact this is a better system for the world instead of penalties.
I'm not saying we should bring it back to the extent it was used, but I think that it should be there.
yeh I find its peetty entertaining. Plus it's less of a lottery and more about skill.
no lol this is stupid all you have to do is dribble around the goalie its simple
insaneomatic34
You see that's what they try to do each time. It doesn't work. It's not that simple.
+Jiggly Carollo only class would make this easy. man just chip it up as soon as that keeper steps up.
El macho Gringo
It's still tough. It's harder than a penalty.
Haha why hate? I think it's different, I can't say they are better than the regular penalties but it's cool. Would be funny see that in Europe like Messi doing that.
FUCK PENALTIES THIS IS THE FUTURE
they are playing on a green rug
its not a bad idea :D
why don't they do this no more?
Cause it's stupid and modern players could and should easily score
+Bighornsheepy just like normal penalties?
LeftyDuece1015 nope there's actually a lot who miss, plus it's traditional and takes less time and energy.
always a fan of those shootouts when there was a draw
+g4meboy13 as far as I'm aware it was when games were tied
+g4meboy13 mls initially didn't allow for ties, which is cool IMO
hate draws, always should win someone
The old Dallas Burn days … how I miss my child hood .. watching these games with my Dad .
What many people don't realise is that you are only allowed 3 touches
If the last touch is a decent chip - no problem
No. 4:00. It's touched 4 times
2:16 5 times
@@niamhoconnor8986 Except by that time the goalie has a chance to get in your face and cut off your "easy chip shot" angle.
@@PatRick-hu1nq Yes and you can see the goalie holding up 5 fingers to the ref as if to say "WTF, you gave him 5 touches."
Me gustó esto,debería volver
Oh boy!! I remember this!!! Totally ridiculous! Only in Murica (thankfully)!
The Voices Of The Crowd Though Back Then
The fact that some people couldn’t score in a simple 1 on 1 is stupid
A five-second limit and a three-touch limit makes it not such a simple 1 on 1 any more.
