In my opinion with Randy Jackson playing lots off instruments it would have made sense to market himself as a solo act that way the way Rick James and Prince did.
But use the Jackson last name sparingly. So he comes into his own.

Ya `aqov Y. Yahudah : Michael & Jermaine's voices were s good together. Michael is definitely on a whole other level, but the Jacksons without Michael R definitely hall of famers💜 My guess is that Randy wasn't as focused to be the front man as they thought. They R all extremely talented, handsome & very professional entertainers.. So I'd imagine Randy was under a tremendous amount of pressure cuz he liked RAP/HipHop but had to bend a little to do it the 'Jackson' way which is probably why Marlon isn't in this one either. Marlon & Randy had different musical & dance approaches than the older brothers, but Ms. Katherine Jackson had some very beautiful & talented sons (and daughters). The Jacksons without Michael R probably one of the most under-rated groups in history. Yes, they made the hall of fame, but they shld have been in there YEARS ago. Come on, the Jackson5 & The Jacksons were the highlight in every decade they graced.👏🏾 Badass vocals, tight musicality & dances moves. What is not to like? They grew up at the knees of #Motown's best. Celebrate them! #MusicalRoyalty💜

It's too bad these guys didn't do more new jack swing songs. They had the vocal, song writing and dancing ability to do it. The quartet of Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, and Randy were perfect for new jack swing albums. Marlon and Mike would've missed out on the fun with lit videos like this. I can see the six of them crush it together with this genre. It would even have been cool to hear Michael's deep vocals that would be made for new jack swing.

Yeah they should've stuck together as a group but they barely promoted this album cuz all of them except Tito were releasing solo albums around the same time. Tito murked that guitar solo. He's an underappreciated guitarist overall, mostly because he and his brothers were only making R&B and pop records.

This sounds like beginning of the New Jack Swing era. If they would have continued as a group, The Jacksons in that era would have competing against groups like Guy, New Edition, After 7, Ready For The World, Tony Toni Tone, etc.

Man, this is a nice slept on track. They were literally comparing not just against Michael, but JANET too. But this is a bop. And like so many have smartly said, you can feel Babyface's fingerprints all over this. You can also feel that New Jack Swing element Teddy Riley was bringing in and changing music at this time.
