  • You can help purchase life-saving equipment like a CMAC Video Laryngoscopy for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital-HSC Winnipeg.
This life-saving machine literally helps children breathe when they can’t. When there is no other way to get a little one breathing, it is absolutely essential that the nurses have this equipment to use.

How often will you have an adjacent monitor when you're on site and the time/space to set it up? If you absolutely need a video assist, get a King Vision laryngoscope. The monitor is on the handle grip and it's just as quick as a typical blade. Also, don't use the patient's teeth as a fulcrum. ;)

??? It takes a few seconds to set up the machine which allows everyone to see the airway. Not only it will be great for teaching and feedback but also allows someone with more experience to step in if necessary.
The monitor on handle grip is way too small for a good accurate view.
Direct laryngoscopes are a thing of the past - especially in a critical airway where your first pass is going to be the best

@@steven0007 I guess I was referring to out in the field and not in a teaching scenario.

What do you mean by out in the field? Most hospitals in the developed world will have these readily available and your assistant can set this up in seconds.

@@HS-ed3dz Out in the field, meaning not in a controlled, medical facility. You know that a lot of the world is not so "developed", yes?

@@natecourteau1268 Yes I do know that. The video is set within a hospital in the developed world, they weren't implying that it is the first choice in any other environment.
However you said it was only suitable for a 'teaching' environment and that is factually incorrect.
It is a very practical solution in advanced health care facilities

LOL, I was thinking the same thing... eek, I wouldn't want to be her first patient for intubation! She is using the teeth as a fulcrum, that is a no no!
