    I'm so insecure about the fact that there is a part of me that likes being sad because people always look at me differently like 'wtf thats really screwed up.' But after hearing Tyler say that he likes being sad too it just fills me with some sort of broken hope, almost like a reassurance that there is someone else who enjoys viewing the world from perspectives you can only see from certain angles. All this makes very little sense, it's sort of like how on earth you can see a lot of beautiful sights and laugh with your friends but only when you're alone, floating in space can you really take in the beauty of the planet idk ill stop talking now sorry

      I relate a lot and it hit me hard when he said that. Idk about you, but I feel...selfish I guess because I enjoy being sad or moody. It just feels so much more real and deep than being happy, at least sometimes.

    • @erinlaboricua
      @erinlaboricua 8 лет назад +26

      The metaphor you used explained perfectly what it is that so many people experience personally. Don't apologize, it was brilliant. And as for people who make you feel ashamed for liking to be sad, you know, it... It is weird. But it's also so common that people should be educated on it. And anyone who thinks your weird because of the things you love, they mean to hurt you so that (in their own twisted minds) they can "improve" you, but being weird is good. Unique. Cool. Inspiring. Don't ever be ashamed of that.

      I've never seen a comment so accurate. Between this part and the first I've cried about 8 times. For many reasons. 1. You can see the pain in Tyler's eyes and hear the pain in his voice and it kills me endlessly. Now 2. Everything he says in his songs are so relatable and when you think about how much he put into his music and how much he relates to the songs it's hurts and feels good at the same time. There's someone out there feeling the exact same things and have gone through the same struggles and felt the same pain. It's a good feeling but it hurts.

    Okay basically everyone says Tyler was forced to talk about this and he doesn't want to. But what if he does want to explain it, even though it's hard for him? I mean he is a grown up man, I believe he wouldn't do anything that he doesn't want to/can't do at all. I don't have any facts about how Tyler feels with this but I doubt anyone else has either, I don't know.

    • @maluska9689
      @maluska9689 8 лет назад +29

      +DevilxPanther okay, he's a grown up man, but exactly in this video (well, in part 1, to be honest) he raises these questions: "why can't i do what i want to do? and why do i always do what i don't want to do?"
      so basically he's saying he always ends up being forced to do things he doesn't want to do, maybe this commentary being a perfect example.
      just my own view though

    Everything Tyler said I can relate to, how he likes to be sad and the way he spoke about each and every song like as if it had the deepest meaning in the world, which to me they do. Tyler thought so carefully and spoke so honestly about each song, he went into so much depth and the way he said it you could just tell he has experienced a lot of bad things, he mentions a little about it in interviews but you hear his pain, you hear what he's been through when you listen to the music. He doesn't hold back, he never holds back. You feel the music in a way you feel the void inside you but with Twenty One Pilots music they take that void out and it fills you with something, worhthiness. You could even tell by the look in Tyler's eyes how much these songs mean to him, how much the message he wants to spread means to him, how much we mean to him. It doesn't matter that he doesn't know I exist, I don't need to tell him how hard life is because he gets it. I never thought I would be able to explain my thoughts but Twenty One Pilots manage to put my thoughts, even my darkest thoughts into music. I love how I can lay there and listen to the music because it doesn't feel like music, or art it feels like more. When songs (in Twenty One Pilots case, all their songs) become your thoughts spilled into music so honestly and painfully that's when you feel a deep emotional attachment. Those songs know you, they know your thoughts, they feel your pain, lonliness and sturggles with life and that's what I love about this band. They're my solace, I grip onto them with my life. I didn't think life had a purpose, I felt trapped and still do feel lonely and no one understands me but Tyler does, it makes my life feel more worthy. I am so grateful for that, I love how he explained about death being inevitable, I talk about death and get told it isn't normal, death is natural I feel like it should be discussed more. I only fear the people I care about dying, and how ill die and I hope there's something after death. I am thankful for Tyler he deserves the best.

      I thank you deeply for writing this. Today's been one of those days when life is worth absolutely nothing and when it seems to there be nothing that can create the slightliest feeling of being alive. Seeing Tyler speak so beautifully about his feelings and experiences, how he tries to put it into his music, and then seeing you speak the things I didn't have the strength to put together, it was priceless. Once again, thank you very much for this. Forgive me for the language mistakes that I probably made.

      +Miguel Ângelo Dias it's okay, I hope you're okay too? I feel like that too, life has been so painful for me I've just given up hope and lost all strength in everything. that darkness just consumes my mind more each day. But you are strong and you can get through what it is you are going through. It will get easier, I may not believe it when people tell me those words, but please it believe it from me. You will be okay, I hope it gets better for you. You deserve to feel like life has meaning. :)

      +ParxdiseHarry I've been a TØP fan for only a few months, but I can say that my life has changed in this period in a way I could never had imagined. I always found irritatingly cliche to say "this band changed my life", but I realised how deep and true this sentence could be. I felt understood as a human being when I saw someone put most of my insecurities, uncertainties and fears into his music, into the main way the world will know him from, and how he really want to get this message across any barrier, so people can hear that they are not alone in all this trouble, that there's other people that suffer with the same questions. It has given me a lot of hope in myself, even when it seems to be stupid as I think I'm completely worthless.
      "Migraine" is probably one of the songs that speak to me the most. I really like the verse "Life has a hopeful undertone". It's hard to believe when you have strong self trust issues, but I try to keep that in mind once in a while.

      So, I'm mainly replying to this in regards to the statement Tyler made about how he enjoys being sad, he likes being sad. I find deeper meaning in that statement and I wanted to share- although before I do, as many of my statements in my past have sounded off, I'd like to apologize if I offend either of you in anyway. It isn't my intention, I'm just sharing my emotions towards a topic I care about. |-/
      Tyler states in the Video above that he likes to be sad. Now, as I said above, I find a deep meaning in this statement. Now, in terms of sadness bringing enjoyment or likeness- I find myself at a stalemate with the statement. Sadness and Depression I find CAN be similar but can be two very different things. Obviously to be depressed, you'd have to have been sad before. Now, being depressed can bring a multitude of emotions, I find that a few can relate to an Uncontrollable Psychological Hysteria or a Mentally Broken Down Thought Process. These aren't terms that are Doctored out by anyone either, this is how I represent these emotions to myself.
      Now, I can honestly agree in terms of enjoying sadness, sometimes. I will openly admit I enjoy sitting on a bench, seat or looking out a window with headphones and getting into deep thought. Its how I write stories and create graphics. Its how I edit videos. Mind you, this doesn't necessarily mean that this 'sadness' I'm feeling is on the verge of becoming depression, as it simply isn't that type of sadness. When it comes to this; I represent it exactly as Tyler stated it-
      Taking this dry emotion, this distraught mess of a feeling and pointing it towards something, it doesn't necessarily have to be more positive- however it still points in a better direction then it would if I didn't try. An example of this kind of change would be my writing. When I am 'thinking', I tend to take emotions and enjoy utilizing them in characters or settings. Sometimes it can be positive and sometimes it can be negative. Sometimes its even balanced, but the point is I've pointed it from the back of my mind where it can fester towards somewhere else in my mind.
      Similarly to how Tyler has explained he writes. He has taken the experiences he has known for his entire life and utilized them to make others realize that the loneliness that often brings sadness or depression isn't necessarily so lonely. We have a family in this Clique. People who WILL talk to us, people who WILL befriend us. Similarly to how you Miguel and Harry have created a positive and insightful conversation through the explanations of sadness and twenty one pilots as a whole.
      We are a combinations of people who have all experienced similarities in perspective, sadness, depression and loneliness. We have things to discuss- this is because of Tyler and Josh. As off putting as it may sound, they created something with light. They created something that allowed others to see in a sea of fire and dark black smoke. Even though sometimes we all slip back into it, even if we feel like we are still stuck there. We all have a reason, a purpose. For ourselves. Within ourselves. The world has beauty inside of itself, and our bodies can help create this beauty. It takes time, and time is a man made concept of which is a cause for depression, and its usually very individual.. however that doesn't disdain from the idea that we, the Clique can be here for each other. That you have purpose- and there is no reason in the world, the mind, the soul. No reason at all that you wouldn't have purpose. I can't stress it enough here, but-
      Stay Alive. Clear your smoke and see what you find. Stay Alive. |-/

    They said that being happy does actually make you feel happy.
    They lied.
    I'm happy when i'm sad because, when i'm sad I start to think. Just sitting and pretending that this world is fucked up. That makes me happy because it's the truth.
    I could pretend that i'm happy. But i'm not a liar.
    What if being sad makes me happy?
    Just let me be sad.
    Just let me think.
    Just let me stand in the rain pretending that everything is ment to be that way.
    Just let me be me.
    Just let me be the sad girl.
    Just let me do what I wanna do.
    Cause I like being sad and pretending that everything is ok.

    I think its beautiful that tyler is generally opposed to putting additional meaning on his lyrics. I remember in 9th grade English class we were interpreting poems. Me and my classmates would raise our hands and said what we thought Edgar Allen Poe or whoever meant by the colors of doors in their poem. We were all told we were wrong. Unfortunately the school system underestimates the power of an individuals personal interpretation of stuff.

      The Kurt Cobain reference was something I was thinking of, just yesterday. After listening to Goner, I switched over to Nirvana's Unplugged. When you hear Cobain's commentary, in between the songs, so much of it reminds of the way Tyler sounds in this interview.
      I mean, there are stark differences between Kurt Cobain and Tyler Joseph, their faith being a major one. I also think that Tyler has determined that there is still something fundamentally good about the world, as broken as it is, it is still worth fixing. I feel like Cobain lost sight of that. It could have been the drugs, his relationships, his discomfort with fame, but something caused him to lose sight. I think when Cobain went into the Trees and called out he heard nothing and that nothing crushed him.
      I don't think Joseph will end up like Cobain, not at all, but I think they had very similar thoughts. It just goes to show you that it's not the thoughts... it's what you do with those thoughts.

    I have a very unhealthy obsession with music, but probably even more unhealthy is my obsession with singers. In absolutely no way am I saying other members are less important. Never ever would that be true. But singers are captivating people. There's just something about them that draws me in. They're the masterminds behind the lyrics, they're the ones who carry the audience through their emotions while performing and they have things to say. If they didn't they wouldn't be singers in the first place. And Tyler is one of those captivating people that I can't learn enough about. I've seen Twenty One Pilots live once, and it was incredible. Seeing him perform the songs after only hearing them through my headphones is just amazing. And I'm happy to say I shall be seeing them again in April and I'm positive it'll be an entirely new experience because of this man. He's one of the most complex thinkers I've seen. (Okay long comment over).

    • @jasminesnoodle
      @jasminesnoodle 10 лет назад

      i totally get what you're saying, but sometimes the deepest lyrics aren't written by the singers. take fall out boy for example. patrick sings all of the emotional stuff but most of it is written by pete.

    • @squidy2343
      @squidy2343 10 лет назад +1

      Jasmine M True, but Patrick Stump has some great solo work though so I know he has it in him to write great songs as well. (I don't know Fall Out Boy all that well though to be honest). Now that I think about it there's also Queen, "You're My Best Friend" was written by their bassist for his wife but asked Freddie to sing it. I guess I shouldn't have collectively stated that they all specifically write the lyrics. It's just the singers I had in mind when writing that comment do. Like Billie Joe Armstrong, Tom DeLonge, Tyler obviously haha and some others.

    I'm so glad I found twenty one pilots I really think it was meant. For example when stressed out became 'famous' or whatever you call it I honestly don't like that word but some people liked the song so they wanted to listen to more of their music and I think it was meant for the people who stick around to found them because we need it. I had a really hard time figuring out stuff you know all the struggles teenagers go trough and I was listening to self titled for the first time and the words helped me so much I can't even explain, the second verse in isle of flightless birds was like I asked the question that had been running through my head and then it hit me. I don't really know what it was but I it was like I was stuck. I tried to open the door by myself but it didn't work. When I heard those songs it gave me what I needed to open the door and I started thinking a lot different than I had before and it inspired me.

    One of the main reasons fueled by Raman made them drop regional at best was because of the religious tones. And you can tell they are breathing down his neck in this interview, It looks like Tyler wanted to say the thing he was seeking in “trees” was God, and even when he was talking about his body being a vessel of whatever’s inside... like his soul, and I could see the frustration in his face of wanting to talk about that but having a big record label watching him like a hawk.

But to me, this video and the part 1 of this video are probably the most important and insightful videos I have ever seen about Tyler. It gives such depth into his mind, into his thinking. He is a bright guy, a smart guy. I have never in my life seen someone connect with others so effectively on such an emotional level. The fact that he is alone talking to a camera(or a person behind the camera) just makes it so authentic and real. A lot of the commentary gave more depth to the songs and I am glad I watched both of the videos. Stay alive, guys. I-/

    "Being sad makes life bearable." That statements is 110% true. Just think, if we weren't ever sad we would all be completely insane because of how happy we were. For example, you don't want to watch a movie where everyone is happy cause then it'll be boring, but if you have at least one sad character in that movie, it brings a weird exciting light to the movie. So if we were never sad, we all be completely crazy. Idk if that made any sense at all.

Each song means so much to him as well as the album as a whole and you can tell that in discussing each song it brings him back to a time where he needed to write that song to feel relief. this man is more genuine and wise then anyone in the music industry and probably anyone in the 21st century. i don't know where i would be right now without tøp. no one will ever now the complete severity or depth of Tyler's pain, but it's nice to know there's someone out their expressing how i feel in the slightest way

    i don't think Tyler has it all figured out... he's clearly frustrated with many of his thoughts and the workings of the world. i think more than anything he just wants to get across that it's okay to not know, as long as you keep going and trying to figure it out, and know that youre not alone.
    people see themselves very differently from how others see them, and Tyler is a perfect example of that. no matter how much success, money, fame he has.. he's still just trying to figure it all out.
    i'm so thankful for what he's done. it makes it easier knowing something so beautiful came from whatever it is that he's gone through, and being able to relate so strongly to it.

    seeing these comments and how people can relate so much make me happy and sad, happy because we all feel alone, when we're really not. but sad because we feel the way we do because certain situations in our lives. tyler talking about these things made me cry, it made me think about how much he went through emotionally. stay alive.

    I was drawing instead of doing something else a lot worse and was listening to the guns for hands part and it made me just stop and sit there with my head down because I feel so, alone. It made me cry and that's saying something.

    I feel like I know him a lot better. Most days I act melancholy and think a lot about why the world works, he just expresses it lyrically and ties it in a nice bow so it's easier to hear and relate to. He treats us like a friend, there a literally billions of us listening to Josh and Tyler who trying their best to give us a message of hope through music, seeing as its hard to give that message individually. I appreciate that they still care.

    Sometimes I just feel like I need a hug from Tyler and I imagine it being like holding one of the most important people that have made a positive impact. Everyday I wonder why I'm still alive, nobody cares if I live or died, but Tyler seems to care and that's enough for me to keep hanging on

    tyler really makes me feel like im not alone. he is the only person i have ever felt like i could relate to. he is the only person i feel like i can sit down and talk with about life and such. he is honestly the most important person to me. this album has really helped me because all my life ive always felt like i was so out there. i always felt like i was so different from everyone else and ive always felt like i was crazy and alone and worthless but you know what? once i found this band, once i listened to this music, once i listened to tyler talk like this, i finally, for once in my life, finally felt like i wasn't alone. i felt like i finally have someone who knows literally exactly what im going through and that's all ive ever wanted. if it wasn't for this guy right here, i don't know what i would do. i stay alive everyday and pull through any negative things in my life because of tyler. he's my reason. my purpose. my everything. i thank god everyday that i found this band. thank you for everything |-/

    I really want to know all the crazy stuff he does when he is alone, just to see how much i do or don't relate to him. I just love hearing him talk because he thinks way beyond the average person and I wish i had those capabilities. On a smaller scale, I do believe I think beyond but I could just listen to him talk about deep shit for hours. Also does anyone know if he has ADHD because I feel like he acts that way

    • @lxtn5162
      @lxtn5162 8 лет назад +11

      I agree, I think he has ADHD, first of all he wants attention, I could say because he have got a lot of AWESOME, INSPIRING,(EVERYTHING) messages to say to the world. ( he's worth paid an attention to) , and my teacher once said those twitches are also signs. I wish I know him.
      regardless to Grace's message:
      I really love Twenty one pilots. the messages are so lovely meaningful, so inspiring, encouraging, it contains every positive thing in the world. The music it's so harmonious, the best.. Stay Alive Everyone.

      He doesn't have ADHD. I've got ADHD and I know it kinda effects everyone slightly different but he capable of doing things that not in a million years I could do. The one thing that convinces me is that he carries on an explanation thoroughly without constant or overly long pauses. He's also got an incredibly good memory and sense of organization which is not usual for people with ADD or ADHD. If you take a look a Brendon Urie, oh that boy's got some ADHD.

    • @graceoldemail3298
      @graceoldemail3298 7 лет назад +8

      Katie Kearns yeah I got ADHD and also yeah Brendon has talked about it a lot and I love him, but I'm still not sure about Tyler but the long speeches without hesitation isn't necesarially true I have seen him stop and also if you are passionate about what you're talking about (well at least for me) I can talk about it without blanking usually. I think that's the same for Tyler because all the stuff he writes about means a lot to him

    I just love how genuine Tyler is like there's not many artists who discuss such personal and real and relatable topics with such passion. Like there r other artists who say that that do this too but he's different and stands out among all artists. He's so honest and so real and I just can't explain how much I love that

    Trees has always been my favorite song by them. Today, I went to the forest and at the time I didn't realize that I too was looking for something. Now, I'm watching this and it's like, "Yes, this is what I feel when I go out by myself!" To have someone put this into words and music helps so much with what I, and so many other people, struggle with.
